"A" is for Amazing

Congratulations!
I've enjoyed your commentary very much and have looked forward to it each time.
You should consider compiling the entire thing and submitting it to "Parachutist" as well as some wuffo magazines -- "Outside" comes to mind.
As for Pat Works . . .
Pat is a special kind of guy. If you didn't know it walking onto the drop zone, you'd probably think he was just a quiet, old guy and not even think he was a skydiver. He kind of stoops over from his age and shuffles a bit as he walks from place to place. However, -never- underestimate anyone in this sport.
See, it's like this, Pat Works was one of the ORIGINAL RW flyers in the U.S.. He actually wrote the book on the subject. Check it out HERE. He's an amazing guy. He has, since 1961, been at the front of just about every trend in the sport of skydiving and is considered to be a living legend and walking history of the sport. When you look around at the photos hanging in the Bombshelter, you'll notice that a lot of the really old historical ones come from Pat's collection.
And if you look REALLY closely on your way to the pay phones in the Bombshelter, you'll see a weird little plaque with a bunch of stuffed frogs glued to it . . . Pat helped to make that plaque way, way back when and it was the original 10-way speed trophy -- it now serves as a "spirit of competition" award and is passed along at each year's U.S. Nationals competition. It's called the Godfrog Award.
Now, you might be asking, "What's a Godfrog?" Well, I'll let Pat tell you in the book I mentioned a couple of paragraphs back. And when you think you're done there . . . and ready for some freefly . . . Pat will take you there as well. Check out THIS!
So, what Mark was doing was bridging the gap between the ages -- connecting Pat's past, to your future.
