Airhead 0 #1 October 26, 2002 I'm changing my AFP training to a new-to-me DZ tomorrow. It's farther to dirve to than my 1st DZ- which was 90 miles one way. How far do you usually drive to jump?

Airhead 0 #5 October 26, 2002 Where do you live? It'd be nice to have somewhere closer, but I guess lots of us gotta go quite a ways to get to a DZ, huh? I think most of the DZs here in MIchigan are all "down-state" and I live "up north"!
darkvapor 0 #6 October 26, 2002 65 miles one way. Driving in an SUV eats up gas fast..
pilotdave 0 #7 October 26, 2002 2 hour drive or 45 minute flight. Under class B airspace here, so need to get pretty far out to find skydiving. All in all driving is quicker when you count the drive to the airport, planning, preflight, taxiing, and tieing down at the DZ, but its a hell of a lot funner. Snowbird 0 #15 October 26, 2002 5 minutes I can watch jumprun from my front yard. Doesn't matter though. It's closed now. To add insult to injury, I had to turn down a trip to Pitt because of other commitments. No, I'm not impressed. bps 0 #17 October 26, 2002 I'm only a 15 minute drive to one of my home DZs...but it's also my office job during the week. (I work full-time at this place) My other home DZ, the one I go to for fun on my days off, is 52 miles one-way. (a 50 minute drive) As we all would do, I've driven hours upon hours each weekend for a little altitude. Isn't it funny what we'll do for a jump? Scoby 0 #18 October 26, 2002 There are five dropzones that are just about an hour and a half from me (Perris, Elsinore, AAW, Taft, California City), but none that are any closer. It's kinda weak, but at least there's a selection.
