It's an ebony epiphone accoustic with off-white binding. It's so glossy and shiny and new.

Anyone with words of wisdom please let'er rip. All I know is don't get frustrated and quit.

practice, practice, and practice, if nothing else set aside at least 45 minutes of everyday to play. And have fun, after a little while find some one to set down and just play with. And no beer while playing, the drunker yuo get the better you sound to you, but no one else...

.... unless they have been drinking also.

Congratulations and welcome to the world of callused fingertips. I remember my frst guitar - a 35 dollar Walmart special. 5 instruments later, I'm convinced I'm hooked.

Tips are as as the other chap said: practice. Bar chords will suck as first, but get used to them and you'll love them.

Actually, I'd also suggest you find a song you like and learn how to play it. It always helps to maintain interest. Other songs will teach you new chords in a practical application. And don't try to play fast yet.

here's my tip: use finger-ease (or other similar product) to lube the strings before playing... your fingertips will thank you!

and like everyone said, practice practice. start with a couple of simple songs you like, the kind with just a few basic chords. slow at first, then work on it til you can play right along with them. then... stairway to heaven!

what do you play? what kind of music I mean?

I've been told to learn the basics and then develop my own style. Someone else said to learn classical and go from there.

what kind of guitar do you play?

I suggest obtaining a copy of "eMedia Guitar Method". It's a CD-ROM how-to.

remember if it dont hurt, you aint doing it right.....
at least for the first few months!

go to you lesson and find out how to hold the pick /your fingers and the guitar. and practice correctly until you find the best way for YOU to hold it. DONT CHEAT it will cost you HOURS/days /months of correcting later!

oh and as with skydivng...HAVE FUN!
