Wrecked my car (2002 Celica GT)

Recommended Posts

First, I have never wrecked or had a speeding ticket...

Was pulling out of the parking lot at work the other night, my window started to frost over , went on down abit (its a long drive to the parking lot), noticed it was getting worse and was about to get to a curve so I thought I'd pull over where the semi's do and defrost my window. I looked out my window, didn't see anyone, went to pull in, BAM, hit another car that was comin' up the drive, hit them in the side.. A piece of junk car at that.

Tried to drive it home, but the front bumper / fender was pushed inside the tire. Doesn't look to be to bad of damage..-shrugs-. My first wreck.

Just hopin' insurance doesn't give me a problem. I've got full coverage, I admit it was my fault, but I forgot to get a police report. No one was hurt. We exchanged information and what not. It never occures to me to get a police report, after all, I was a nervous wreck (no pun intended!).

{Hope's that the car is totalled. Hates the expensive payments}

Finally talked to the insurance and it's all settled. Said get an estimate and the check would be mailed. Told the other guy the same thing. It helps that the manager of the insurance company is one of my dad's friends.

I was really scared that see'ing as I didn't get a police report it'd cause a problem, but they said they didn't need one. It still sucks though. I can't drive my baby! The front bumper / fender is pushed up in the wheel, so I can't drive it. Can't get a rent a car, because I'm not 21. Argh! I hope it warms up abit, go skydiving or bungee jumping and get rid of some of this stress..

Never wrecked before and I have to say it sucked. I felt so bad about hitting that lady. I mean, I didn't do it on purpose, but she had three kid's in the back and that scared the living hell out of me. Infact, I don't think I have ever been more scared. I also don't think I've ever felt more guilty about anything I've done. Even though I've talked ot them, they aren't mad and understand. It also pisses me off, that I was in the process of pulling over to AVOID a wreck and what do I do? I wreck . I had the best of intentions and the worse of worse execution.

Anyone else got any more interesting wreck stories?

{and yes, I know this post isn't exactly cohernt. I done this lastnight, have yet to sleep, due to a migraine from hitting my head against the window.}

OK, interesting wreck story:

My friend enters turn 1 twelve inches wide in his RX-7 on a rainy day. Entering wide means exiting wide. Abutting the turn exit is the dragstrip. He goes one tire-width onto the wet rubber-coated dragstrip and is very shortly not in the turn anymore, instead traveling straight toward a concrete wall.

Which he hits dead on at 90 mph.

He gets out of the car and develops a bruise on each collarbone from the top seat belts (2 of 5). Car's exo-frame has to be cut off at the firewall and replaced (along with body panels up front, of course) and then he's back in business.

No headache from what I heard.

I had 2 accidents within an hour of each other, the second one actually as I was pulling out of the police station after filing a report. The car was a 1999(this was in 1999) Mitsu Eclipse GS-T. I had owned it for less than a month old at the time.

Don't worry be happy your a stand up person you were responsiable enough to have insurance, and wasn't driving while impaired.

The next time you'll do a lot better. Driver under 21 years old the insurance company will take real good care of you.:S

Hate to say it, my first reaction was "RUN", but I knew that was a really shit thing to do and a really shit idea to begin with. I just did not want to face that lady.. However, I knew it was my fault, knew I had insurance and knew my responsiblity to change information and make sure everyone was okay.

I agree, it could of been worse. I could of hit someone, in the middle of nowhere. I was lucky, done it near where I work, was able to get a ride home. I could of also hit someone, hurt someone, hurt myself, etc. It's still one of those things that no matter how I think of it, I still feel bad about it.

On the road.......I'm on the way to work, in a not-so-special '93 Dodge Dakota 4X4 (in '95 or so)(yes it had a 318, and yes it was "messaged".) I wasn't especially late, and wasn't really going THAT fast.......as I approach the light following a POS baby-blue Mercury Topaz, the light turned yellow and the lady driving it STOOD on the brakes.........I did the same when I saw brakelights and it must have stood the Dakota on its nose. (judging from the damage.......)

As it ended up, I still punted the Topaz through the light and ALMOST completely accross the intersection. (I was stopped well short of it though.) ;) (the Topaz had no trunk......and I had a pretty mangled grille, AC condenser, bumper, and hood.)

Either fortunately or unfortunately.......I'm still not sure which........a county deputy was sitting in the left turn lane (yes, in a marked car) and saw it all happen right before his eyes. He flipped on the lights and barely stood up out of his car to ask if I was OK. As I shook my head and somehow eeked out the words "I'm fine" he said "if you can drive it, park it over there."

I parked the truck and walked back to check on the Topaz.......while the deputy was TRYING to communicate with the driver that we really needed to get the car out of the intersection. She spoke very little English, but seemed to understand at least some.....and was obviously more than a bit freaked out by the situation. (obviously) As it turned out, the deputy got her out of the POS and he and I pushed the car in behind my truck.

When the smoke cleared and her wrecker left.......the deputy finally had the time to talk to me. He began with an apology?! Then said "you know I don't have much choice, right?.......I have to cite you for following to closely." (as he shook his head)

I signed the ticket.......he thanked me for my help......and I drove on to work. (it didn't get the radiator or any other vital organs.)

Rear-ending a car at a stop light is usually BAD.......in this case I think I actually got lucky that the cop saw it happen!

(you asked.......)

On the track.......I'll just say that I KNOW what those blueish-purple stiripes on your shoulders feel like.

one of my friends did just that. one of my other friends gets his car stuck on a curb in a parking lot (long story), so he gets some friends to help em push it off. so my not very nice friend offers to ride in the car to steer and brake it if necessary. well, the pushers weren't working very well, so he guns the engine in reverse, comes skidding off the curb and hits some ladys car. the funniest part is that he turns off the car, gets out, and takes off running into our car and shouts "GO!". and then later he never helps pay for anything for the damage. :o needless to say, those two weren't real good friends from then on.

Coming up on a year ago...

Driving around a curve in the road where some black ice had formed my car skidded. I made the mistake of tapping the brakes which sent it spinning across the other lane of traffic (9am rush hour on a VERY busy highway). One full 360 and into the next when my car went up the embankment (BACKWARDS) and then drops down into a drainage area (mashing the trunk in) and flips to the roof while sliding back down the hill and finally stopping...crossways blocking both lanes of Rt1.

Amazing that through all of this no other car was involved and thankfully for me a Septa bus was behind me and blocked traffic from going past before my car came back into the road.

All but the front end of my car was smashed in so the air bag never even went off. The car stopped on the roof so they couldn't get the doors open. Finally got the back passenger door open and pulled me out through there. Oh yeah, It also had a FULL tank of gas and never spilled a drop!

I got a nasty concussion (blacked out a few times due to multiple impacts), lost my memory for a couple of weeks (yep, that really happens!), a few cuts and scrapes and some odd bruises but the seatbelt obviously saved my life. (They work well to prevent head/window contact too LivingInClip.;) ) Still gives me the creeps to drive past there each day though.

Yep, the things I'll do to get out of a few days of work!

Check out the pics...it was a Ford Escort. (And it didn't start out a hatchback!)

Oh, my BRAND NEW car...got rear-ended just a few months later! B|>:(

damn that sucks...I am sorry to hear that. Look at it this way...its just a car, a piece of metal. You can and will get another one. You cant be replaced, so oh well...this might be a sign to you that you should buy the GT-S...;)

I dont have any interesting stories about crashing a car. Nothing to interesting except running cars into the snowbank and getting stuck while doing some rally schools. Slipping and sliding through the snow doing like 80MPH+ Its fun and scary allat the same time. I once went by a cop doing 75 in a snow storm. It was about 1am, no one but plows where on the road. I slid onto the highway and up to 70 or around there and up over the hill and there he was behind the plows. The blues came on then he shut them off. I love the snow, its such a blast to drive in.

Not really a great story, but I'll tell it anyway.....

So back in November I'm coming home from a friend's house at about 1 am or so. It was raining and I was on this really windy road. I got about not even 1/2 mile from his house and I went around this curve going a little too fast and hit a puddle of water, hydroplaned and lost control of the car. Stupid me slams on my brakes and goes into the other lane (the road is a 2-lane) and then the car does a 180 degree turn to the right and hits this brick mailbox straight on. The mailbox was right in front of a wooden fence and the resident's "prize tree" from florida. So of course I destroyed the mailbox, killed the tree and hit the fence so hard that my front tires weren't even touching the ground anymore. So when I hit I am not even freaking out. I am just like oh crap. Oh crap. I get out of the car to see the damage but I couldn't see the front end cuz it was caught in the fence. So I try to call my friends from my cell phone because one of them was driving in the car in front of me but she didn't see what happened and kept driving. Of course, my phone died. And no one is on that road at all. So for a second I panic and don't know what to do. But then I remember my friend's house is like right there, so I ran to his house and banged on his door and started screaming and crying. He let me use his phone to call my mom and my mom called the police and I ended up getting 2 tickets. How sucky is that? I got one for Driving too fast for conditions (which I accept with no problem) and one from Failure to Maintain Lane! How stupid is that! No duh I failed to maintain the lane. Stupid people.....whatever.....
I'm so funny I crack my head open!

all right! Wreck stories.
my 2001 Dodge Ram quad cab 4x4
1. Im making the daily commute home when this guy comes from the far right lane into the far left lane (me) and puts me in the concrete wall. I rips the entire spindle, brake, hub, wheel & tire. off the front axle (even the cop is amazed) and some minor body damage. Cost: $15,000. Worse: I froze on the steering wheel and busted up my shoulder. Eventually had to have surger and get a capsule repair. cost $21,000.

2. again making the commute home when traffic does that hurry up and you better stop stuff. I look in the rear view and see this crown victory going at full tilt. puts his engine where the driver was supposed to be. My truck: new bumper and tail light, and a couple of misc dents/scratches fixed.

IMHO. buy big, cuz if I'd been in my little car. I wouldnt have been so lucky.

Sucks doesn't it!
My 2002 firebird, 2 weeks old, got rearended in front of the dealership where I bought it.
The guy was drunk, had an open container, no license, no insurance, stole his girlfriends car, and didn't speak english.
(yeah, lets give all the illegal aliens drivers license's.....whats that sign say????)
He also tried to drive away. The only reason why he couldn't drive away was he was stuck under the back end of my car.
