  1. I know the feeling. Trying to get my A also and the weather won't cooperate nor will work. I have to work Sunday night, but I am still goin' to go up to the DZ and just hang. Something I haven't been able to do as of late due to snow and work (its about two hours away).
  2. As someone who took an appertinceship in body piercing and someone who did not read the whole thread, I have one thing to add. Everyone heals different. There are guidelines, most governed by common sense, but everyone heals different. Don't over use the neosporin though. I see a lot of people do this and they don't realize you are not giving the wound room to breathe. You're killing off natrual things to fight off healing of the wound..etc. Don't use listerene on a tongue piercing or any oral piercing also.
  3. Hate to say it, my first reaction was "RUN", but I knew that was a really shit thing to do and a really shit idea to begin with. I just did not want to face that lady.. However, I knew it was my fault, knew I had insurance and knew my responsiblity to change information and make sure everyone was okay. I agree, it could of been worse. I could of hit someone, in the middle of nowhere. I was lucky, done it near where I work, was able to get a ride home. I could of also hit someone, hurt someone, hurt myself, etc. It's still one of those things that no matter how I think of it, I still feel bad about it.
  4. I'm sorry, but I apperciate the moderators of this website (I help moderate a fairly large PS2 gaming web-board), but what you do on the internet does not give you any special privledges in real life. Just my two cents.
  5. First, I have never wrecked or had a speeding ticket... Was pulling out of the parking lot at work the other night, my window started to frost over , went on down abit (its a long drive to the parking lot), noticed it was getting worse and was about to get to a curve so I thought I'd pull over where the semi's do and defrost my window. I looked out my window, didn't see anyone, went to pull in, BAM, hit another car that was comin' up the drive, hit them in the side.. A piece of junk car at that. Tried to drive it home, but the front bumper / fender was pushed inside the tire. Doesn't look to be to bad of damage..-shrugs-. My first wreck. Just hopin' insurance doesn't give me a problem. I've got full coverage, I admit it was my fault, but I forgot to get a police report. No one was hurt. We exchanged information and what not. It never occures to me to get a police report, after all, I was a nervous wreck (no pun intended!). {Hope's that the car is totalled. Hates the expensive payments} Finally talked to the insurance and it's all settled. Said get an estimate and the check would be mailed. Told the other guy the same thing. It helps that the manager of the insurance company is one of my dad's friends. I was really scared that see'ing as I didn't get a police report it'd cause a problem, but they said they didn't need one. It still sucks though. I can't drive my baby! The front bumper / fender is pushed up in the wheel, so I can't drive it. Can't get a rent a car, because I'm not 21. Argh! I hope it warms up abit, go skydiving or bungee jumping and get rid of some of this stress.. Never wrecked before and I have to say it sucked. I felt so bad about hitting that lady. I mean, I didn't do it on purpose, but she had three kid's in the back and that scared the living hell out of me. Infact, I don't think I have ever been more scared. I also don't think I've ever felt more guilty about anything I've done. Even though I've talked ot them, they aren't mad and understand. It also pisses me off, that I was in the process of pulling over to AVOID a wreck and what do I do? I wreck . I had the best of intentions and the worse of worse execution. Anyone else got any more interesting wreck stories? {and yes, I know this post isn't exactly cohernt. I done this lastnight, have yet to sleep, due to a migraine from hitting my head against the window.}
  6. I wish I was a regular. I started during winter, got a couple jumps in and now I haven't been able to jump for a month due to weather. What a real bad time to start. Just hope that it clears up and when it does, I will go ahead, do a couple levels all at once. Worry about gear later on. I need to worry finishing AFF now.
  7. I'll be there, provided I don't have to work and the weather does indeed hold out. I'll at least be there one day this weekend, most likely Sunday. Need to do an AFF level. :D
  8. I'm new and I found the post informative and true. Yeah, I annoy everyone I talk to about my jumping - but he has a point on accepting skydiving as something you do and not what you "are". And there are some valid points. I know, I hated doin' my PLF's over and over...I hated being infront of people and trying to get my arch down - but guess what? I learned from it. You don't have to like the lesson, to learn from it. I found the post direct, informative and all truthful.
  9. Ditto there. Some of the Skydive Greene County accuracy nuts will be there over the winter months. Stop by, say hi, they don't bite too hard! You jump at Greene County? I just started taking my AFF there... (I know its OFF-TOPIC) Both Phreezone and I jump there. Small world! ' Really? Wow. We'll all have to hook up sometime. I just started and am doin' the tandem progression - was goin' down there this weekend, but due to cold weather and the holidays they closed the DZ down. Will have to wait for the new year.. Maybe we can all hook up and you guy's can give me some tips. :D

  11. Which one? I've got a CTX - with all "new " parts, as in a few years old. Would be runnin' Linux - if it was plugged up! I've got an IBM "Aptivia" - runnin' 2K. I've got a G3 iMac runnin OS X.
  12. I always average at least two call in's a year, it's a given. I have been known to walk in, walk back out for the week. Never had three. I wouldn't of called in today, but I know one of them drops off next week, which brings me back down to two! Plus, if I "need" to call in next year, I'll have all my personal days, vacation and floating holidays I can take instead of an actual sick day. We get our sick days , which equal one week. One floating holiday - to be taken any day , you want. 12 personal hours , to be taken whenever you want. Plus whatever vacation you have - which next year, will be three weeks.
  13. Alright - I called in today due to snow, ice and rain (I live on the backroads - there is no way I am driving 40 mintues of hell just to work ). So, here's the question! Where you work - how many sick days are you allowed, before you're fired? How far do you have to drive? And how many have you used already? Me, this will be my third. Where I work, a sick day counts from the day you use it to, to one year exactly. So, this day will drop off on Dec 14th of 04'. The two previous ones, will drop off mid-Nov of 04' and one drops off next week, because I called in last year around this time when I got my new TV. We're allowed five call ins, then you sign something saying you won't call in again for a whole year. After that, if you call in you're fired. I've never had three before - shrugs-, so I feel a bit uncomfortable, but oh well. Oh and our sick days can equal one week. See'ing as I called in today,I have the option to take all week off now and it only count as one sick day used.
  14. Feel the pain. Was goin' to jump Saturday, but got conned into working Saturday and Sunday...and the weather is going to be crap. Next weekend, I hope to jump, provided the weather isn't crap, yet again!
  15. Am I a skydiver? I started out on a tandem within in one week I started AFF . Why? I have always had an urge to skydive and once I done it, I realized how much I loved it. The freedom and the responsiblity at the same time. You're free to fly through the air but you are responsible for your own life. Do I have to complete AFF to be considered a "skydiver"? Or do I need to simply intend to make more jumps and continue to grow in the sport? Honestly, I don't care. I consider myself a skydiver and I intend to keep jumping and learning. Just like if someone played football, I'd consider them a football player. And at my DZ , I've been treated like part of the group. People I haven't met, see me gear up and then ask me if I'm doin' AFF and what level I'm on. They congradulate me and offer me tips. They treat me as if I'm a skydiver. The only people I don't consider skydivers are one's who will never jump and those who do a tandem once and walk away without the slightest interest. If you do a tandem and you're in love with the sport and have to do it more and more, than you, my friend are a skydiver and welcome to the obsession...err...sport!
