shoulder straps under canopy

should my shoulder straps be off my shoulders under canopy?
When I am under canopy my shoulder straps seem to be about 2+ inches off of my shoulders is this right?

I was just wondering cause my rig was custom built for me and some of my friends that jump the same container Mirage g4 say that there shoulder straps are barely off there shoulders when under canopy

There's a whole lot variables in there...body type, how tight/how you place the legstraps, etc etc etc.

Mine (custom Vector) does the same thing.

Are you talking about them being off your shoulder vertically(above them), or horizontally(off to the sides)?

Three or four fingers' (vertical) spacing is normal.
Any less than that and you would not be able to stand up straight or arch.

Those friends have probably not actually looked at nor paid close attention their shoulder straps. 2" I would say is perfectly normal, if not even on the lower side of normal. Any less than 2" and your rig is going to be super uncomfortable when not under canopy

Totally normal. Mine are about 4 fingers.

Be the canopy pilot you want that other guy to be.

also how you sit in the harness. If you tend to 'stand up straight' even under canopy, the harness is tighter. If you sit back, lift your knees high like sitting in a swing, then the harness has a lot of slack in it.

What's more important is how it fits when standing and skydiving in freefall. The harness should be snug and not restricting.
