lawrocket 3 #2 July 25, 2004 He just didn't have his heart into it, I guess. Nice of him to tell the Dolphins this close to camp. A BIG hole to fill for the coaching staff.... My wife is hotter than your wife.
tunaplanet 0 #3 July 25, 2004 I believe Travis Minor is still onm the squad. Quite a downgrade there. They also picked up someone from the Bills. Sammy somebody. Forget his name. Forty-two
cvfd1399 0 #4 July 25, 2004 I think he was all hype anyways. You don't become a legend by being good for a few years and then quit. His attitude stinks.
tunaplanet 0 #5 July 25, 2004 Who said he was a legend? His stats were far from being, "all hype." Hell of a RB. My guess he'll be playing again at some point or another. Forty-two

Somewhere, I think Robert Smith and Barry Sanders are smiling... I haven't been in their shoes, and my guess is Williams (whose heart I always questioned) has a good reason. Slappie 9 #9 July 26, 2004 This doesn't surprise me one bit. He's lost it since he became a pro. Got caught smokin dope chillin with his homies. He was so awesome at UT. To bad to see such promising skillz go to waste on someone with no heart. CanuckInUSA 0 #10 July 26, 2004 Dang ... it just goes to show that most runningbacks don't have very long careers. And when does actually stay in football a long time, we need to take notice. Dagny 0 #12 July 26, 2004 There are theories over here that Ricky chose to quit rather than pay a fine for being caught smoking weed. Personally, I'm not all that surprised by his quitting. He's a strange one. When he played for the Saints he had emotional problems and avoided socializing and training with the team when it wasn't absolutely required. I'll miss watching him drive by in that orange metallic H2. He was the only player I recognized around the training camp. And I'm a bit sorry to see him go, he made dolphins football exciting. Whatever his rationale for leaving, he quit before he reached his full potential. (my opinion). Shame.Take me, I am the drug; take me, I am hallucinogenic. -Salvador Dali
tunaplanet 0 #13 July 26, 2004 Ummm, this is a football thread. Shouldn't you be in one of the cooking and cleaning threads Forty-two
usedtajump 1 #14 July 26, 2004 Good for him, quit on his own terms with some measure of dignity as opposed to Emmit Smith who's a pathetic shell of an athlete who can't accept the reality of a career that's over. On the other hand, it would have been nice if he'd had the common courtesy to give the Dolphins a little more time to find a suitable replacement. The older I get the less I care who I piss off. chopchop 0 #15 July 26, 2004 He gave the Dolphins the edge they needed.. well.. that is.. if they had a quarterback.. instead of a quarterbackup.. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
tunaplanet 0 #16 July 26, 2004 A logical reaction looks like the Fins trading Ogunleye for a RB. The Bears seem the most logical possibility with Anthony Thomas now that they have Thomas Jones as their starter. Forty-two
Kramer 0 #17 July 26, 2004 Ricky's one messed up dude. I hope he doesn't kill himself or anything on his little "life journey". Never liked him as a player, so I have no words of kindness. The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
mailin 0 #18 July 27, 2004 QuoteThe Pro Bowl runner cited a number of reasons, mostly dealing with a needed change in lifestyle and a lack of desire. He also admitted to taking a drug-masking agent designed to hide his marijuana use. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt on the marijuana use. I'm glad to see he's leaving if he really is playing doped up. JenArianna Frances
