Friends on a date?

Recommended Posts

I will be the first to admit I have female friends.
I wish to take this one step further beyond the age old question if guys and girls can be friends.

My question is; If a girl asks a guy friend to dinner and a play is that a date?

Once again I ask myself the question, why is a nice person like this asking romance advice from a skydiver forum? :D

Every woman is different. Some of us do and some of us don't. Some of us would think it was a date and some of us wouldn't. Depends on the girly. ;)

Nice and blunt... :D:D

Dinner and a play is a date. Dinner can be a date or its just hanging out. A Play is typically a date unless its something you both would do anyways.

Taking her to see Episode 3 probally would not be a good date flick unless shes a geek ;)

Not unless she gives a clear indication that she's interested in more than just a friendship. The most useful day of my life was when I realized that A. Girls can be cool friends just to hang out with and B. Not nearly as many women wanted to sleep with me as I thought did:$:)
Notice that i said most useful, not happiest
I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried

Is this the same girl that wants to get her hood pierced????:)

You can hang out with the opposite sex and not have it be a date. Of all the people I know - YOU should just ask her. I've never not known you to be blunt.:P

What guy wouldn't want to call it a date if there is possibility of seeing new jewelry.

Friendships with girls are complicated but fun, be honest with yourself and with them. If they are just a friend then keep the johnson in your pants, friend sex only lasts a while and someone always ends up getting hurt. It seems to me it's a lot easier to talk to girls about your secrets than to guys, because us guys will just make fun of each other and girls actualy listen without making you feel like a dumbass which makes girls killer friends.

Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!

If you make it a date, it's a date. Or your friend, or whomever was asked out. If you don't make it a date, then yer doomed to being just friends. Gotta break that barrier.

Course, if you make it a date, you/he/it might not be asked on a second date, but that's the dice.

Who cares what its called?

I went out with this one woman for nearly two years. When we brok up, we remained friends. But we each went our seperate ways.

Years passed, we both went in & out of relationships. She was actually married for about six years or so. Then she got divorced & moved back to Cambridge Mass, where she was from.

I went back there to visit friends & family from that area. One evening I went with her to a Cambridge bar to see a band with her. This is now something like 14 years since we broke up.

So we're having a few drinks, & the band is pretty good, & we're talking about this & that. And after a few Manhattans, she says to me : "do you wanna fuck?" and I said "YES!"

depends on who's asking;)...

You know how women will take a man and (seemingly)place him in the "friend zone" or the "potentially fuckable zone"?? (note to women...we men have only one zone for you ;))

Well I thought she had done that with me after we broke up. Because a few years after we had broken up she came to visit me but she didn't show any signs that she now thought of me as anyone outside the friend zone.

that happened a couple of times, so that evening in that Cambridge club was a bit of a surprise, but I still managed to give an immediate response to her question.

Nope. :P I have a lot of guy friends. I frequently ask them to have dinner, workout, go rollerblading, see a movie.... and very RARELY do I intend it to be a "date".

95% of them want to fuck you. Sorry, it's fact.

Well, be friends, absolutely, but most men who are good friends with women would like to have sex with them. Doesn't mean that's why thier friends with you, although if they're single it's likely, just means that it's how men work.

Same here. Sometimes i just wanna go somewhere alone, so i ask a friend to come along. I took a guy friend to watch Valerina's belly dance show in Chicago and it sure the heck wasn't a date.

Well, I'm just thinking, if sex is involved, it's a date....

Cant one have sex and it still not be a date ;) Just 2 adults enjoying !! Or maybe a woman can have a man friend but still have sex with him? I've known a couple of girls like that.

Its a stage play, something He would not normally do.

Then there's definitely going to be sex involved, or at least the hope thereof.

It's the only explanation :P

Damn, I can so relate to this. I have a ton of guy friends, most are very attractive, but I am not interested in going "THERE".... But damn people like to talk and "invent" stories, what is so wrong with a girl having male friends? I just relate to guys better.

Thank you... there is hope for guys and I think it's vain for a girl to assume that just because he's a guy means that he wants to have sex with her. I think guys sometimes would put girls into the "just friends" categories too. There have been many guys that I'm sure that I've been "just one of the guys" with.... you wouldn't want to screw "one of the guys". (not that I've propositioned them and got a "real" answer... but just from my perceptions)

Agreed. For those of you who can hear Tom Lynkis on the radio, will already know that men are waiting for the opportunity to get in bed with those women who are their "friends". Being a woman's "friend" is slap in the face..."You're such a good friend"...ugh! The difference between a someone you want as a friend and someone you're involved with is that a friend is someone you are not attracted to.
