Are tattoos really addictive?

Recommended Posts

I got my first tat on Friday, and I have to say, I have no clue why people say they are addictive. After sitting in agony for an hour letting someone permanently mark-up a various parts of your body doesn't seem too addictive to me. :S I have no inclination at this time to get another, but then again it's only been a few days. It's still sensitive and scabbing so it looks gross... Why?? :o Are they really that addicting?

I have 5 (although it looks like 4) and am planning 1 more. My original thought - get 1 tattoo. So, I'd say they are addictive.

Hey...what did you get? :)

When I walked out of the shop with my first tat, I already had my second one in mind. B|

I still only have one, but the second will be there.....eventually! :D (I got this one almost 3 years ago :P)

YES - they're very addicting - however I might just stay with the 2 that I have. Give it time - that was my initial thought after my first one. Actually it kinda tickled when I got my second one - does that mean i like pain???? hell no - it's just some rush i get that i enjoy:)

I've had 4 now...

addictive.. no
curious, unique & creative... yes
do I want another.. yes
will I get another... probably..

body art can be wonderful... it should be symbolic & special what you put on your body...

added: This photo is of my 4 y/o eagle (my body removed;)).. the eagle represents me.. there is a feather also that the eagle dropped in flight (not pictured).. the feather represents my daughter.. if/when I have another child.. I'll get another feather..

it's a fad.

A fad that has been around since caveman times..

These replies always make me laugh. I have over 25 tattoo's amd more for next week, but I never feel the urge to comment on why people DON'T have any....:P

Attached is one of my latest...the arm is "work in progress..."

Thats really nice coloring on that- how long did that take?
I have....well, I really dont know how many tattoos I have anymore- a bunch kind of blend together- and what used to be 5 seperate tattoos on my right arm, is now turning into a full sleeve (I guess I'll just count it as one).
As far as tattoos being addictive? For me, yes they are- I always seem to get the "itch" for a new one. It may take a month, or a year, but I always find myself craving to go get inked. My last one was done about 2 months ago- and almost immediatley I wanted to get some more. Money reasons have kept me out of the shop, but I'll be getting one soon (fall bonuses are on the way!!!!!)

Took about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. I am like you havin the whole arm turned into a sleeve. Just had the "gaps" filled with big cherry blossoms, which need colouring, and then smoky effect for all the rest of the gaps.

Plan on having some Maori leg work done whilst back in NZ but havent made my mind up whether to go for traditional tattooing or machine....

I am a ladybug lover, so I had the artist draw a ladybug under canopy. ;) I'll post pics when I get home. I'm in Phoenix at the moment, but flying home in just a few hours.

I just don't see sitting through that much pain again... Especially the canopy! Oh, it's also on my lower back...
