Girls Who Kill Snakes Are...

Recommended Posts

So...I'm at my cousin's farm for the 4th and she starts screaming. I come to see what's wrong and there is a snake. I offered to relocate the snake (my first choice), but she insisted that I kill it. So, I got a shovel and killed it.

I'm a girl that can either relocate a snake or kill it depending on your preference and depending on the type of snake.

To answer the original question: not being afraid of snakes or other creepy crawlies is an attractive trait, so I voted "hot."

But it's better to relocate them. They keep rodents away almost as effectively as a couple of good cats.

I would have laughed at my cousin, picked up the snake, and relocated it.

I would have laughed at my cousin, picked up the snake and chased her with it. (Being careful not to scare the snake.) >:(

Not that I have ever done that kind of a mean awful thing to anyone like my sister as a child or anything. Or with spiders too. :| Or praying mantis'.

I've relocated two snakes from my friend's backyard to my parents back yard... one was a garder snake... the other was a rat snake... both of which are harmless... and in fact the rat snake can be very useful.

When I showed up at my parents with the rat snake... the little guy had just managed to push his way into the container I had transported him in as I was pulling into my parents driveway...

I walked through the garage to show my dad... and the first comment he made was "He's a nice looking Rat Snake. Go show your mother. :)
of course I did and my mother was like "That's a nice looking snake... where were you thinking about releasing the little guy?" :D

Well, since I wasn't there to witness it.... but I still have the feeling that's exactly what you would do... chase them around with the snake (or spider.. or praying mantis)... I know I would... :D

It drives me nuts when people want me to kill some critter just because they are afraid of it. Their fear is not the critter's problem. I move the snake or bug or just walk away from it. Killing things just doesn't sit right with me, unless there's a damn good reason for it. You know, like a good steak dinner or something :)

You should have slapped your cousin for being an idiot and relocated the snake.

Your retarded cousins irrational fear is no reason to kill
an innocent animal.

Now you should slap your cousin, and then slap yourself as well >:(

I don't personally care for snakes in my home as pets.

But recently, there was a small snake sunbathing across my driveway and I just stepped over him and let him be. I figured he wasn't hurting me, why should I hurt him?

When I told my ex, he went crazy and told me to NEVER step over another snake. Once again...he seemed harmless enough and I didn't see the need in disturbing him from his nap.

I might not pick one up voluntarily, but I don't see the purpose in pointless killing, unless it was trying to bite me.

So am I a tough girl....or a chicken?

I would only kill a poisonous snake, and only if it was in a location that was seen as dangerous for a poisonous snake to be.

Spiders on the other hand - I kill with prejudice. I hate spiders. Hate.

I'm not overly fond of spiders either, but a large wolf spider jumped on me and got into my hair at work on Sunday. I calmly flicked him out of my hair and onto the floor. Then helped someone else escort him out the door.

Hell, we have a pet black widow in a plastic box sitting on the manifest counter that my son helps feed! ;)

leave the damn thing alone unless you know what it is. you would be suprised by how many people get bitten by venomous snakes while trying to kill them, where if they had just let them be the snake would have gone on its way :S
of course, i would have caught it regardless, i used to raise eyelash vipers, rattlers, copperheads and some Asiatic vipers :P
edit to add for Shaiziel - plants are poisonous, snakes are venomous :)

I voted hot. Not for the killing the poor thing >:(, but for the fact that you're not afraid of the creature ;). Personally I don't kill anything unless it's an unwelcome guest in my home.

I'm a big fan of spiders & frogs (for killing bugs), and snakes & cats (for killing rodents). A local stray cat has proven her worth as a mouser by killing 2 in my apartment and several around my building. She's been rewarded accordingly :)
