AggieDave 6 #1 October 6, 2006 We all know people that smoke. We all know people that drink. We know people that do both; however, do you know anyone that smokes tobacco but doesn't drink at all? Thinking to everyone I've ever seen at a bar or anywhere else where you could smoke and adult beverages were served I can't remember seeing anyone that was smoking not drinking.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #3 October 6, 2006 Quote ex-alcoholics. they change their addiction from alcohol to cigarettes and caffeine AH! Yes, forgot about those guys. Now, we have one group, any others that choose to not drink, not due to an addiction problem they're fighting?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." littleskycrab 0 #8 October 6, 2006 Me. I quit drinking 1-29-89 and have only drank a handful (ok, TWO handfuls) of times since then. I just don't like the taste of most alcohol anymore. In order for me to drink two things must be aligned.... 1) can't taste the alcohol 2) must be in the mood to drink (very rare) I also can't deal with hangovers - it's just not worth feeling that damn bad.Next time a sunrise steals your breath or a meadow of flowers leaves you speechless, remain that way. Say nothing and listen as heaven whispers, "Do you like it? I did it just for you."

irisheyes 0 #11 October 6, 2006 I know plenty of people who don't drink for religious reasons (mostly Irish Catholics) but smoke up a storm.

irisheyes 0 #13 October 6, 2006 Might be a generational thing. Almost none of my relatives or friends in my parents generation or above drink, but they all smoke like crazy (my parents excluded)... That being said, the same does not hold true for my Irish-American friends of any generation or any my Irish friends around my age, we definately make up for it in alcohol consumption. cocheese 0 #15 October 7, 2006 Yes it's weird. Alcohol is so bad. It really is the root of all evil. Weed doesn't scare me. Drunks do.
kirrz 0 #16 October 7, 2006 QuoteYes it's weird. Alcohol is so bad. It really is the root of all evil. Weed doesn't scare me. Drunks do. Second that. I don't really drink, alcohol scares me. I really like the taste of beer though so I just sip it and stop as soon as I feel lightheaded. I lived in the dorms for 3 years and really saw every ugly side of alcohol consumption in excess. When you're drunk, you lose your reasoning abilities and can't really control your behaviour so people can easily put you in situations you don't want to be in. With weed, that's not true at all.
