RevJim 0 #26 June 8, 2007 Too late, I'm maintaining now. Last fall I got a wake up call at 195.5 pounds. I told myself I'd never weigh 200, and that got me going. The next day I also has a Dr's appt for a general check up/physical. My Cholesterol was well over 200. He wanted to put me on that medication, levitra or something like that. I told him I could get it down diet controlled, and he gave me 4 months. At the 4 month mark, my return visit was a healthy 165# and a Cholesterol of just over 170. I'm happy where I am, and maintaining well. Not bad for a truck driver that gets next to no exercise (nature of the job ). How I did it was pretty simple. I gave up egg yolks (I eat either egg beaters or just egg whites whenever I feel like eggs), EVERYTHING deep fried (no french fries, damn!), and all processed sugars as far as I can tell (no sugared soda, no candy bars, ect.) That's it. 30+ pounds and 30 cholesterol points. It goes to show you how eating well (and in moderation) can make a huge difference. I still eat fast food, but now instead of 3 double cheeseburgers, an order of fries, and a coke, it's 2 double cheeseburgers and a diet coke. I know, it's not perfect, but it's much better than I was doing, and it's working! It's your life, live it! RevJim 0 #28 June 8, 2007 Thanks. And recently I decided to buy my own truck, and one of the first things I did was buy a micro for in here. Truck stop food, though it may be very tasty at times, is BAAAAAD for ya. I'm stocked up on soups, canned veggies and fruits, rice dishes, even single serve hamburger helper and easy mac. I'm going through about $40 or $50 worth of food literally every 1.5 to 2 weeks. That's damn cheap, considering a single meal in a truck stop will set you back $10 to $15. It's much easier to control the nutrients and calories I'm eating too. The money I spend every 2 weeks on food would get me, maybe, 3 days of food in truckstops. It's your life, live it! tigra 0 #29 June 8, 2007 I remember that challenge well- was that 3 years ago or just 2? Lesseeee-back when that started I was losing weight but gained it all back- at least 20 pounds since then. BUT, I've lost over 30 in the past 10 months, so I weight at least 10 pounds less than the original "Fat Bastard" challenge! I still want to lose about 20 more, but I'm content with only losing one or 2 pounds a month as long as I'm not gaining and I keep hitting the gym regularly. I think that's my best bet for keeping it off for good! I'm tired of this yoyo crap! I gave all my "fat clothes" away and the only new clothes I want to buy are "skinny clothes"! PRSKY71 0 #32 June 9, 2007 Well, I'm glad I had a few moments to sign on and see this thread!! I recently had a baby (three weeks ago) and desperately need to lose weight. I gained a horrible 60 or so pounds. I dared to weigh in about 5 minutes ago and YEAH!!!-- 30 pounds lighter than my last pregnancy weigh in!!! I really need to lose 30 solid pounds -- would love to lose 50 but I haven't been a size 4 for many years!! Anywho, 30 pounds would be great. The troublesome thing for me is that I had a cesarian delivery and cannot start the good workouts for another three or so weeks -- especially considering my incision has hurt like hell all along. Also, I am such a picky eater -- NO eggs, veggies (except for lettuce, cucumbers, and the occasional broccoli), or meat (only chicken breast and even that gets old really quick). I love carbs -- breads, pasta, sweets, etc. For me the only solution would be a well balanced routine of the few foods I eat along with good excercise. I will continue to check in for motivation and hope to post a good weight loss soon!!! Good luck to everyone!! Character cannot be made except by a steady, long continued process. -- Phillips Brooks

LisaM 0 #36 June 10, 2007 I am in. I need to lose about 20 lbs maybe 15 depending on things. I have lost about 6 so far. I MUST lose 15 more before I can jump my Vengeance. So when we go back jumping in July, it'll be me and my Sabre. ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder?
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #37 June 10, 2007 Sigh...I can't use pounds or dress size for this. I'm only about a size 0P, but my body is in a terribly unhealthy state. I haven't exercised, since after I did the Breast Cancer Walk last November. I have been eating very unhealthy, fattening meals this whole year, too. I've been so busy with my Masters classes (and being too tired to exercise) that I have let my health/physical exercise slide way too much. I don't like the way that my bum, thighs and middle have expanded and become less toned (at least to me.) I feel very unhealthy at the moment, even if it doesn't show on my body very much. My goal is to feel like I am taking better care of my body...to feel healthy, again. I am most likely going to Costa Rica (invited by a friend) in a few weeks. I want to feel comfortable running around in a bikini or summer clothes, again. Plus, my younger brother is getting married very soon, and my nieces will be turning one year old next month, so I want to look better/feel better for these two wonderful occasions. I am going to begin eating healthier and walking, whenever I can. I want to tone up, too. I love when my abs/middle, bum and legs look very toned, which can happen for me with regular hiking and/or maybe climbing. (I'm not a "working out at the gym" kind-of girl.) I can't wait to look and feel better. Better health, here I come!

I know that I have struggled with that in the past (freaking army helped me with some horrible habits to 'make weight' by a date ). I think this time in my life, I'm going to do everything I can to put me in the best position to be losing weight...really strict with the low-carb in the beginning to get things started off right; getting back on the 'Bottoms Up' workout program that really sculpted me when I was younger (), and then take whatever changes happen when they happen. That's the plan, anyhoo. Good luck on being able to jump your smaller canopy in the near future. And 6 pounds down is great! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #40 June 10, 2007 Thank you so much for welcoming me, Jaye. I often feel like i shouldn't post on these threads, but we all have our own body/health issues, which we can improve. I am just happy that I am going to do something about it, and that there are so many others out there supporting each other, too! Also, congrats on losing 3.5 lbs, Jaye. It's a very big accomplishment! If i were you, I'd for sure tell myself that it's definiely NOT water weight! Use that incentive to keep going. You can do it, girl! Skolls081102 0 #42 June 11, 2007 I'll hop in again on this. Although last time it seemed to jinx me- but anyway, I'm on the eat right most of the time (about 98% of the time) /Brazilian Jiu Jitsu weight loss system. I started training on April 17th. At the time I started I was 301 (yeah I know- I'm fat) anyway, as I stated 2 1/2 years ago when I joined this site- my goal is 250 (so I can go on my first tandem jump). Although if/when I ever hit 250, my goal will probably be 235. So starting weight was 301 (April 17) Current weight as of this morning: 271.2 That leaves 21.2 pounds to go (29.8 lost so far)until I can fullfill my dream. The sole intention, is learning to fly.Condition grounded, but determined to try. Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies.Tongue tied and twisted, just an Earth bound misfit. LisaM 0 #43 June 11, 2007 Yeah, I won't be jumping my Vengeance this go around. Not to mention lack of currency and a high performance parachute. No thanks! I definitely am going about it differently this go around. I am older and it's not as easy as skipping a meal. The slowness is normal for what I am doing, but I would love to drop it faster. I don't have the patience for low carb anymore. More power to ya! ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder?
