grannyinthesky 0 #1 February 2, 2008 Ok, I know I'm new to skydiving, but it has now been 4 weeks since I jumped and I'm getting a little grumpy and out of sorts. What the h*ll is a person supposed to do to keep her head out of the sky until the weather clears and she can jump again? What's your best distraction?"safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

Jewels 0 #7 February 2, 2008 I have nothing. I go through this between tunnel flights. A whole week seems like an eternity. I can't *imagine* what you're going through. I spend a lot of time on dz.com and talking with all of my friends who are, on the whole, skydivers or at least tunnel junkies like me. That's no distraction whatsoever--more like a counterfeit way of feeding the obsession. Yeah, but what an obsession!!! Edited to add: Apparently, I also hallucinate. I could swear I just saw a commercial for the Ford Focus in which two guys are on the road and have to choose between driving to Eloy and Las Angeles, and in an incredibly stupid move, choose Las Angeles. H*ll, I've got enough snow in my yard to learn to cross country ski, but that sounds like too much work. By the way, do you really think anyplace in Weiser sells porn? I'd probably get run out of town for even asking!! I guess I could probably get a fair amount by just opening attachments here on DZ.com"safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! With the snow we've got here right now, just getting from my door to the car can be a challenge. It's definitely not bike weather. It sounds like a cool idea though. grannyinthesky 0 #14 February 2, 2008 Quote I pop my main and repack it and being as I just got a wingsuit to play with (thanks Dave P) I've been playing with that too. Soon I may even get to jump it 1 jump since 1/3/08 I have gone to the DZ a couple of times and worked on learning to pack. I think I provided a lot of entertainment for my instructor with that activity, especially when he had me pack a fairly new canopy. That thing simply refused to coorerate with me. Hope you get some jumps soon, especially since you've got that wingsuit to play with."safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! There are a bunch of us from Utah there over the Valentine's Day weekend... Oh, this sounds like such a good idea. There's a part of me really wishing I hadn't prepaid for my first 16 jumps here in Idaho (ISP rather than just the 7 level AFF). I'm wondering if I could go to Eloy and come back and use the 11 jumps i still have to go to get in the rest of what I need to get my A. I'd be stunned if your DZO wouldn't allow you to apply those funds to jumps (and it should be enough to finish your "A." We've got two people finishing their AFF at Eloy over the Valentines Day weekend. Come play.Drop me a PM if you have questions. There are at least 10 of us driving down as well, if you'd rather save some cash and spend about 9 hours with some strange people in a car.
