hottamaly 1 #1 May 28, 2008 Who thinks that future air shows should be canceled while this fuel issue is going on. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't us tax payers pay for the fuel used in showing off our aircraft? Just a thought, don't flame too bad. Peace. A rather insignificant amount when compared to total fuel used by the military. And even the airshow flights are good training.SmugMug
wrightskyguy 1 #6 May 28, 2008 People shouldn't be allowed to skydive either. What a frivolous waste of fuel. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver

The military participation in shows is in many cases, but not all.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! squirrel 0 #10 May 29, 2008 you cant even begin to imagine how much fuel the military burns. a buddy of mine used to be crew on the C-130...he did dozens of emergency landing practices...which included...dumping fuel. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him? Whiskeyboi 0 #12 May 29, 2008 To those who organize the airs hows... I've got a way to cancel the air shows yet still look good in the eyes of the spectators. Chicago will loan you Mayor Daley. He'll show up with some bulldozers late on a Sunday night, dig some X's into the runways...Voila! Planes can't take off - no air show.

buff 0 #15 May 29, 2008 Last weekend had the DC-3 at Tinker AFB show in OKC and the mil gave her 600 gals of fuel and 13 gal of oil, payment in kind. Kinda funny that they had to drive a bowser over from Rogers because FSD don't run on JP-X. Drop in the bucket compared to that C-17 that flew racetracks over the show box for an hour or so.It's called the Hillbilly Hop N Pop dude. If you're gonna be stupid, you better be tough.
