Yes, I post crap. But this is really time worthy.

Absolutely love how they are free to do things you could -never- get away with in the US without some nutcase going apeshit.

Examples from the video;

A couple fucking.
A dead body at the bottom of a creek.
A snowman taking a shit.
A whorehouse.

Brilliant.

Ok, here's the thing, it looks like they're trying to show the widest range of human experience possible and with a little bit of humor. I'm nearly certain that if you examine the scale of this thing you'll recognize seeing any of those items listed would be analogous to standing on a hill top and looking over a city with a telescope.

Most of those things actually can be seen in the real world, well, maybe not a snowman taking a dump, but you'd really have to take quite a bit of time to actually see them and you'd probably have to take some extraordinary measures at that.

Nearly everything in the US is either "for kids" or "for adults." I think that's bullshit because what it means is you either end up with Teletubbies or Porn. Ok, maybe that isn't exactly correct, but you get the point, there's very little in the middle viewable by "humans" that shows the entire spectrum of reality.

I know were your coming from. Thats why I said to each there own. I have kids, I chose to "mostly" surround myself wife kid friendly things. Most would think that type of exhibit would be completely kid friendly. I dont think for one second that all things should be kid friendly.

Way cool. I'm guessing that the moving people are done with magnets under the floor. The cars look like "slot cars" but could be magnet operated too.

My dad was part of a local model train club for years. He was more into the "train" part of it (he was the club mechanical guy), but they had a couple guys (and a woman) who were into doing the scenery/background/buildings. They had some pretty cool stuff.

Damn, I thought more people would like this.

I'm impressed at the time it would take to create this.

The scope and size of that display is fucking amazing! :o

That is amazing. I've always gotten a kick out of models: planes, trains, cars, etc. I could spend all day looking at that one. Looks like I'm going to have to make it to Hamburg someday.:)

Me too.... Been to Germany once before, in '94, but was disappointed in not getting to see more than I did... Next time will really be a sight-seeing trip! :)

I agree. I wonder how long it would take to really see the whole display?

It's in "HO" scale. All computer controlled, so there is no "pattern" to repeat. The roadways have magnetic strips the vehicles follow & the computers again control them all. As they are battery powered, when the computer recognizes a vehicle not keeping up it directs it automatically to a recharging dock behind the scenes. The attraction opened after something like 9 months construction but is continuously added on to, so it's considerably larger than it was when it opened nearly 10 years ago. I believe it takes 15 minutes for the scene to go from daylight to night, & it is constantly on the change.

Something similar in New Jersey (http://www.northlandz.com/) & the original in Pennsylvania (http://www.roadsideamericainc.com/).
