I’ve been meaning to draw up a little graphic, but since other than a work PC I only have a phone now I’ll try and describe it. Imagine a compass with the four points Far left is West, Far right is East. North represents true centrists. South representing Extremists. That’s kind of how I view political and religious viewpoints. By the time someone becomes an extremist or terrorist they very rarely represent a left or right viewpoint. Islamic terrorists have been found with porn, drugs and prostitution. They. Sure don’t represent highly devout and peaceful muslims. I’m sure the same is true for ‘right wing’ terrorists, they don’t really represent conservatives. The whole spectrum is a continuum. My objective is to try and be North facing :)

From across the world it does feel like there is a tectonic shirt happening in USA now, although the general feeling is that the US is heading into a period of civil unrest, especially in November

These protests are sure highlighting systemic problems in policing Police in recent nights have been less confrontational with demonstrators, which has mostly eliminated clashes between officers and protesters. Thanks. Ive always thought the birth of 24 hour news channels was a mistake. The only way to properly fill the hours is with lots of Opinion and that is NOT news!

A month or two ago I was talking to someone whose spent considerable time holidaying in the US. He has just come back from a year travelling there. This is his observation about a core problem in the USA and it makes sense. When he first travelled to the USA late nineties, in the small town news was ONLY local. Maybe a big national issue would get some coverage and essentially no international news. Fast forward 20 years and now people have access to the internet and therefore information. However as a school teacher he says ‘most’ Americans are not taught or have not gained the skills for critical thinking and how to research properly. As a result they soak up CNN or Fox being poorly equipped to properly analyse the information. Aside from his views, the US doesn’t appear to have a strong public sector based news provider. In Australia we have ABC news, UK have the BBC. Not being for profit and being accountable to a higher standard means generally more balanced and objective reporting.

Interesting read, but as I say even in the fake news North GA doesn’t appear. But reading that article was interesting, at risk of starting a conspiracy theory I wonder if Russia could be behind the rumours

Most organisational change is not possible without changing the leadership team. Cut the head off the snake. Seeing tank and file members disciplined and or resigning may make people feel good, but with systemic problems it doesn’t resolve them. From international news it does seem like a few mayors have sacked and replaced police leaders

I’m curious how you ‘know’ they were Antifa? I’ve done a google search and there are no results I can find that link Antifa to North Georgia? Or are you simply labelling protestors, because that is what Trump has said? If so, how would you feel if someone labelled you as a KKK member based on you being a radical right wing Christian?
