I know that state side airports are cool with parachutes, but I am coming from Sicily, IT. I am not sure how they are going to take me bring a rig on the plane. I will be there 14Feb to 28Feb. I am going there for a military PPT(parachute proficiency training) during the week. I will be jumping at the civilian DZ on the weekends. Who is in that area? I just got my FAA Senior rigger cert, but I have been a military rigger for 15 years. So times are based on putting together Javelin’s and MT2-XX’s. 2-4H for the assembly/inspection, installation of the AAD takes less than 5min and packing... will run 60 to 100 bucks. When I do standard repacks I let the canopy air out for a day before it gets packed up, 30 bucks if there is nothing wrong with it. As far as tipping goes, I never expect tips but if someone drops off a 6pack that is always nice. Cypres 2 all the way, will never use anything else. John - D.S 1313 "I'll jump it, Np. I just completed my senior riggers cert on Friday last week with Dave DeWolf. It was a great course, lots of fun and great instruction. I am glad I finally got it done, 14 years as a military rigger it is nice to have the civilian cert as well. Thanks to all the instructors that helped out during the course. Received my contourHD 1080p camera today, I am very excited to see how it performs. First impressions, very light weight which is good. In the box was the goggle mount, sticky helmet mount and a USB cable. I do not trust the sticky mount for skydiving, easy fix I am going to reinforce the mount with with two small bolts through the mount, easy day. No lens cap? It did not come with a lens cap for storage, which sucks. Ok let’s fire it up, put the battery in, switch is in HD mode cool power on. Hit record and let it run for a min. Connected it to my laptop, no insta play back kinda sucks. Np I can deal with that. Plug it in and my laptop picks it up np. Play the video with VLC, great picture quality and sound is good. Over all I am happy with it, just need to mount on my Bonehead Mamba and take it for a jump and see how it dose in freefall. So far the only cons are no insta play back and no lens cap. For static line I used them once. Now I just go off the D-KAV, and wind direction and speed from the DZ. Don’t think I have ever heard or seen anyone using them for freefall. John - D.S 1313 "I'll jump it, Np. It's all good"

I like the less wind when spotting especially from a C130 moving 130kts in winter, it is cold. As far as communications go, I have not had a problem. Once I start spotting the commands are 2min, 1min and 30secs. All these are just hand signals. If I see a problem that I need to say something the mamba face shield opens up easily enough. At stand by I stand up and face the jumpers open my face shield and give the go command. Even with an open face helmet in a C130 it is hard to project your voice to some right next to you. So all jumpers should be able to pay attention to the JM and understand both verbal and visual commands. John - D.S 1313 "I'll jump it, Np. It's all good"

The search function is a great tool and should be used by all... but since I am here I will give my imput. I use a full face bonehead mamba in the winter and when I am doing static line JMing, helps for spotting. I like open face for the summer time because there is something about the wind in your face that is just nice. Just the way I like it, you should try both and see what works best for you.
