Just talked to Mark on the phone today to send him my rig for a reserve repack. He's done my last 4 or 5 repacks, and I haven't had any issues. Sounds like ya'll may have some timing issues getting ahold of him. I'm not sure of the nature of his other work. He's always been good to me...

Never used a gunner, but had a mindwarp for a while. Great helmet, and I eventually turned it into my first camera helmet. Now I jump an optik.

I have a Newton Cross sight. It's, I believe, they way they grow a crystal, to make it look like crosshairs. It's designed in a way that, when properly aligned with your camera, the crosshairs will always point to where your camera is shooting if your camera helmet moves around at all on your head. A dot on your goggles or the amber "lolly pop" sight can't do that. My opinion = if you want to shoot good video, spend the extra $$ to get it shipped out to you. You can also get an articulated ring sight bracket that enables you to swing your sight out of the way when you don't want it, and bring it back in place without loosing aligment.

Stiletto vs Crossfire2 vs. Katana
ShaggyFord replied to nepalaw's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Well, I guess I forgot to mention that it was a Crossfire 1. The Katana has just as soft, or softer openings, the toggle response is much better, and the flare is stronger. The only downfall, if you consider it a downfall, is the Katana has a much steeper, longer dive than the original Crossfire. -
Stiletto vs Crossfire2 vs. Katana
ShaggyFord replied to nepalaw's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I bought a Katana 107, loaded at 1.8 when I had about 500 jumps. No one has ever asked for my experience level when buying a canopy. Previous canopy was a Crossfire 109. Katana is sssooo much better. -
First paid tandem.....chop!!.......anyone else?

No line check.....hmmmm......stupid. Ya, I'm sure he won't do that again. -
Good thing the videographer wasn't hanging on the outside of an otter or kingair with all that going on.
-
And it's also a requirement, at least for Strong, to do a handles check in freefall too. My first paid tandem was a cutaway (its in another post). The cutaway went smooth, except the cutaway handle I needed two hands to strip it from the velcro.

If you haven't been able to figure out if you have a dominate eye, then it shouldn't matter how you mount it. I think most people mount the ring sight on the right side cause the camera is on the left and you might have something stick out into your camera's picture. I'm right handed, but I'm left eye dominant. Sucks when I shoot skeet, cause I need to put a piece of tape over my left eye on my shooting glasses. And I do mount my ring sight over my left eye. I use the articulated sight extender and use all the sight's post to get it over my left eye.

Our Strong rigs all have SET-400's and Master 425 reserves. Don't know if I gave the impression that the main was a 425. -

Agree with you there. That rig just sucks sometimes. But what can you do. I can't say much, cause that rig is all that I know. It still saves my life each jump. -
First paid tandem.....chop!!.......anyone else?
ShaggyFord replied to ShaggyFord's topic in Instructors
I did my first paid tandem a couple of months ago and everything went well untill deployment. It opened up into a lineover. Needless to say, I did what I was supposed to and everything went well. By the way, the Master 425 flies like crap (just my opinion). But, it still saved our lives. Anyway, I was told by a couple of tandem masters that they never heard of anyone chopping on their first paid tandem. I was just curious if anyone else has had this happen? Share your stories. -
Oh, I'm garbage Jackie, I'd just be there to make you look better.

I don't know........maybe I could con Jackie into a duet. Keith "blablabla" Wilbur

Howdy folks. I did a search, but the latest post on this I found was almost a year old. What's everyone's favorite photo printer? Looking for best photo quality. Don't care about print speed or if I need a computer or not. Thanks

BH Clamshell vs Cookie Black Box (PC101)
ShaggyFord replied to MFF29Alpha's topic in Photography and Video
Squeak, You have the cookie box for the PC101? No problems with it. What kind of lens to you use with it? -
I use just a stroboframe to mount my Rebel 2000 on the top of my Optic. Have no problems at all. It's not going anywhere.
