  1. Naked sounds interesting... I just wouldn't want to pull the wrong "emergency handle" if something went wrong ... hehehe It retracts in freefall. like a frightened tortoise "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  2. Quite a bold statement to make. Please state your experience with UPS and with it's competitors (That would be FedEx and former DHL/Airborne and possibly the US Postal Service). Since I work out of my home I get a lot of stuff shipped to me for work. IT IS VERY TYPICAL for UPS to have a package on their truck for me, NEVER EVEN COME TO MY HOUSE (I was home waiting for the package(s)), then they tell dispatch I wasn't home, (which they never even came to), they DO NOT leave a call tag on my door, oh yeah; and it seems to always happen when my regular UPS guy is not at work and some yahoo is filling in. It is obvious that when they don't want to (or can't?) actually do their job they just call dispatch and say so-and-so wasn't home. Yeah I agree; UPS SUCKS! And they are way overpriced imo! 3. I believe you misunderstood the website. It states that the CX100 works with the Hypeye D Pro but it DOES NOT recommend using the Hype D Mini. The Mini is a Hypeye without a button, it just has the indicator LED http://www.gethypoxic.com/support/useful-topics/50-hypeye-d-pro-a-hypeye-d-min-compatible-camcorders.html My Hypeye D Pro works great with my CX100! 4. Does it work on the iPhone? "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  5. +1 Thanks for starting my day with one hell of a laugh! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  6. I was 40 when I did my FJC. It was exactly 2 years ago today!! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  7. Yeah I jump a HC5 and with the SteadyShot off it doesnt shake at all. I bought a CX100 a couple of weeks ago for $335. I got it last week but I have not opened the box for 2 reasons. 1. I don't NEED to jump it right now, I am used to my HC5 and its working fine. 2. I don't want my wife to see it! It was hard enough to explain the great deal I recently got on a Rebel XSi!!! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  8. Not sure how well it works but it is not cheaper than a CX100. The cheapest I can find the Sanyo is $370 but the CX100 is on Amazon for $317. My suggestion is just get a CX100, but then again if you are feeling adventurous pick one up and let us know how it goes. whatever you decide, best of luck
  9. Actually if you wait more than 30 days between jumps you will have to redo some of what you already learned. That will depend on many factors; how long past 30 days, how far along you are in getting your A, and most of all, your particular dz and instructors. Here is a link to the section regarding currency in the SIM: http://www.uspa.org/SIM/Read/Section5/tabid/168/Default.aspx#970 If your DZ follows the SIM after 30 days in between jumps at the very least you will have to do a coach jump. Now that may work out well; maybe you had to do one anyways, or maybe that will be your check dive, it just depends. But if you wait too long, like a year, most DZs would make you take the FJC again. Again it all depends on your specific case. good luck "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  10. yeah Andy is a kick-ass freeflyer and one hell of a cool guy to boot. He actually has a new band that is not so heavy. It is called Arson Academy. They cite their influences as the Foo Fighters and Rise Against. You can check them out here: http://www.arsonacademy.com They are on Facebook as well. The lead singer, Andy, is not only an awesome freeflyer but he is also a Tandem Instructor at Elsinore. Granted he seems to do more FF coaching than Tandems but I seem him wearing a tandem rig every few weeks. Maybe if Lamb of God comes to So Cal Andy can do a tandem with one of them!!! 12. btw your balloon idea works great! I tried it yesterday and the switch worked the same with the balloon/rubberband on it! thanks for the tip
  13. UPDATE: I have been in contact with Nuno at Ultimate Switch and I do feel better about the company in general. For whatever reason I did not get the email indicating I would get the additional discount and due to email changes/problems they did not get my follow up emails. To be honest, I was very surprised I was blown off over $8, for me it was the principle of it. I am still sticking with my tongue switch for the time being but I am very eager to hear how this switch works out for those who have purchased it. and I highly doubt anyone will see one of their ads on their FB page ever again "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  14. Done! Current Score: City Council - 67% City Manager - 15% "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  15. rhys, The ironic thing is I was all set to purchase one of these switches a couple of weeks ago until I started getting the run-around regarding a 10% coupon which I was told I would get IF I registered for their website and it specifically stated I could use it on my first order. So I jump through the hoops and registered, I got the email regarding my new account but no coupon. I went ahead and registered again using a different email but the same result. I emailed the company directly and they claimed I was confused and the only special was off the switch itself. I finally took a screenshot and emailed it to them, they then admitted I was right and they would reply the next day with a solution. I have emailed them back 3 times since then but I have still have yet to get a reply, but what do you know...the webpage has been "fixed" and the coupon is gone. The discount was only about $8.00 and I would have ordered the switch without a problem had I not read that I could get another 10% off. But instead of honoring their offer they would rather ignore me. I already run my mouth at the DZ about what a shady company they are but I did not bother posting here but I am glad they tried to advertise here. I am VERY glad I did not order it because this company is clearly less than ethical BTW, I attached the screen shot I got off their webpage. I went with a Conceptus switch and it is working out very well! I have plenty of room in my clamshell (I have an FF3) to fit any blow switch but I picked Conceptus since I have heard good things about their company. "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  16. ...that their customer service sucks and they don't honor offers posted on their website....... $80=very cheap? "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  17. I've got a few dropzones reasonably close to me, so that's not a problem "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  18. Around the time I was doing AFF there was a guy who was also working towards his A. He was having ALOT of troubles with spinning. He went to the tunnel to fix it but still did at least 15 jumps to get through AFF. Even during coach jumps he would start spinning before deployment. I have seen the video, it looks pretty scary. I think it took him around 45 jumps to get his A. He never went low, always pulled when he should, occasionally while on his back spinning like a top, but he kept at it. At least one instructor, who tried to help him work through his problems, gave up in desperation and refused to jump with him. But he did not give up and eventually made it. Now he is a VERY solid belly jump and an excellent canopy pilot as well. He is on a up and coming 4-way team, and has about 450 jumps now. We got our coach ratings together and he impressed me greatly with his ability to teach. Personally, I know our DZ is a better place with this guy jumping there....
  19. wtf r u rambling about? what is a mac? a new canopy? "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  20. How long it will take is going to vary from rigger to rigger. I have heard of same-day reserve packs but they are not common at my dz. Usually I plan on my rigger having my rig for a few days when I get my repack done just so I don't rush him. My guess would be around $20 for a rig inspection, $70 for the repack and $25 for the AAD install, maybe less for the AAD since the repack is being done at the same time If you are going to want a quick repack I would consider tipping if not I only tip my rigger if I have a cutaway and he/she repacked the reserve that saved me. I do not jump an AAD myself but I would spend the extra and get a Cypress. Argus may be a good product but if I decided to jump an AAD it would be a Cypress. Good luck "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  21. Here is more info on the 2 balloon companies that fly out of Perris. Above the Rest Hot Air Ballooning 951 334-1689 (Contact is Dawn) Dan's Balloon Skydive Jumps 951 265-0552 Shoot me a message when it gets closer to the date and I will most likely jump with you guys and bring a few others. Cya... "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  22. soybeans....that's all....no meat, no cat food....just soybeans "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  23. $150 is rape....pretty sure Dan will take up 4 or 5 people, but the other company (bigger basket) needs 8 or more. If you need a couple more jumpers to make a load I may jump plus I know a few others that may want to jump, just depends when. I would not pay more than $75, personally, I think $75 is alot but I understand why they have to charge that to make it worthwhile for them. let me know when you have a date, the jumps are always early in the morning (as far as I know) I will get the other number when I am down there on Friday "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  24. there are at least 2 balloon companies that operate out of Perris. They both cost $75 a jumper but I am pretty sure they have different minimums regarding the amount of jumpers needed. Here is a link to one of them: http://balloonskydive.com (If you do use the one above tell Dan that Steve from Elsinore sent you!! ) I know the phone number for the other one is on the bulletin board at Elsinore I will be down there Friday and I can get it if you want. (I have biz cards for both somewhere but cannot find crap since I moved last month!) I THINK the company I listed above will take a smaller group. Also Skydive San Diego WAS doing helicopter jumps one (the last?) weekend (sunday?) a month. I would call them since their website has no info regarding that. Not sure if it is still going on but they were last year. Cya.. "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  25. I have only used up to Nero 8 (which does work on Windows 7 btw) but according to Nero the latest version of Nero Vision does the following: Nero Vision is the video editing and authoring program that lets you capture your videos from external devices and record them to a variety of popular optical formats including Blu-ray Disc, DVD-Video, AVCHD, VCD, and SVCD. You can create amazing slide shows and cut and edit your own movies with spectacular effects so it should be able to do it but I have never messed with the footage from a Go Pro good luck...
