  1. Not true in all cases, I have an Icon that is Big Tittied Russian Ladies. And it is BOC edit: regardless I try not to pull any of the flaps underneath the bag! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  2. That's because the Spectre is probably one of the greatest modern parachute designs.
  3. I think a razor blade would be a more sensible decision, seriously. and MUCH cheaper....try it out and let me know... "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  4. Wow, why is this so hard to believe? Did you keep jumping a Navigator after AFF until you got your 'A'? If so, sorry must have been real boring. I used Nav 260s to 230s during AFF. After AFF I started using our rental rigs which is recommended at my DZ. Those happen to be either Sabre2's or Spectres. I weigh 165 and have down sized to a 170 and just bought a 159. Again doesn't seem too fast to me. 'The Sabre2 sucks', is just my opinion... some agree with me and some don't. There must be some validity to it or this thread wouldn't have had more than 3 replies. It's just my opion... and only matters to me??? I HAVE BOUGHT A SAFIRE2 AND I'M EXTREMELY HAPPY!!! btw, I jumped a navigator till jump 44, I even took a canopy course at jump 27 with a nav 240. What is your point? fyi, I weigh 155lbs without gear....r u gonna tell me I am TOO safe? You should hang out with the 8eight Guy....2 peas in a pod..... how old r u? 19? 20? good luck on your journey just so u know Stud Boy, at your weight and sea level it is suggested you have a minimum of 260 jumps before jumping a 160 canopy, but of course you have mad skillz; u are the last mofo I would take shoelace advice from, much less canopy advice....I guess u think Toyotas are unreliable cars? c u in the incidents forum! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  5. dude u titled this thread the Sabre2 sucks! Don't get all butt-munched and worked up. At 49 jumps you dont know crap about ANY canopy, especially if you didn't pack em. I am on the opposite end of the spectrum as you, I jump a Saber1...Sabre1 170. I have put over 250 jumps on it, NEVER A HARD OPENING, yet it is a canopy WELL KNOWN for hard openings....[email] FYI, the only HARD opening I had was on a rental rig with a Safire 189, it was so hard my right side tingled for 2 days. 3 other jumper complained about that same rig over the next week. Are Safire's crap? Take a step back and think about the fact u don't know much about canopies.....nor do I. btw, u may be happy right now but god help u if you ever need customer service...might as well try and fly to the moon. 6. That is Jack Johnson, the song is Upside Down. Its one of my daughter's favorites. That is her in the video, along with Felix. I enjoy jumping with her but its very scary in it's own way. "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."

  8. After getting a riduculous quote from a local repair shop here in Elsinore, regarding a dead LCD on my HC5 ($380; $280 of that labor) I found these guys: http://www.alamocamera.com/ I have since had the camera repaired for $165 including parts, labor, and return shipping. They also did a complete cleaning as part of the repair. I know another jumper from Elsinore just sent in a Sony to the same company for repair. Good luck.... "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  9. no offense but u come off pretty cocky. It takes at least 29 jumps to KNOW any canopy; IF one is an experienced skydiver. I don't consider myself "experienced" at this point, what about yourself? Good luck on your journey! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  10. Yep, don't jump it. I think you knew the answer before your original post and you are just looking for someone to tell you to do it. Keep in mind I have put over 250 jumps in the last year on my canopy and my w/l is 1:1, and I never, ever wished I was on a smaller canopy, especially when things went wrong, and they will, sooner or later. What's your hurry?? Let me guess, you can get a good deal on it?? Good luck whatever you decide "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  11. this is a link to a jump I did outside video on earlier this month at Skydive Elisnore's Chicks Rock '09 Boogie. I dont have wings yet so I did the best I could to stay with the raft, regardless it was a pretty kick ass jump! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8wgmNFc3zM God Bless the Skyvan!!!!!!!! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  12. I don't think the OP is trying to say a pin check may cause a premature opening, but that if a pin check REVEALS a problem that could lead to a premature opening if the pin check is done while the door is open and the skydiver getting the pin check is near the door. Isn't the reason we do pin checks to be sure that are rigs are ready to jump? Let's say someones main flap is lifted and the pin, which was not seated by the packer properly and then made more loose by the jumper leaning against the aircraft comes out and the wind from the door catches it? Or even worse; someone does a gear check on a student doing his first hop and pop and his reserve fires due to...well you name it....everything is great till it's not. It is not about dumbing down the sport, it is about eliminating unnecessary risk imo. but to each his own! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  13. I completely agree with you! I have come across an individual at our DZ that has exhibited what I would call "door rage" I understand it is hot at the front of the otter but when you are the first group out, doing video for the first team out, sitting on the floor, next to the door, and trying to get your camera helmet on and final gear checks completed; you DO NOT want the door wide open at 10K. The door is normally fully opened at 1K then closed all but a foot or so around 8K. I have no problem leaving it open a foot or two, but there have been actual confrontations over the door not being open enough for a certain jumper. I am not the only one that has had this "door rage" experience with this guy, but hopefully that will end soon; at least till next summer. personally if you cannot handle the heat or if you suffer from claustrophobia (yeah that was his excuse after we landed and he had just made an ass of himself in front of 22 other jumpers); find a different job or at least a different dz, just my 2 cents. TO the OP: and while I don't know you too well, (lol ok not at all, I see u at the DZ but that's about it) I know alot of people at the dz, and NO WAY are you the grumpiest!! I am not kidding!! GREAT POST!! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  14. SKYVAN SKYVAN!!!!! MELSINORE ROCKS.... Hey Mel! Amit was not going to come to Chicks Rock till I told him about the Skyvan on Saturday...HE IS THERE.. personally I would love to see Jaws there I dont care how hot it is....u got that taken care of btw thanks for that hug the other day...I really needed it!
  15. A guy who is from Georgia went to the NZ school, he then came to Skydive Elsinore about 6 months ago with around 185 jumps as an intern. He has been doing tandem videos for a bit now and he did his 700th jump yesterday and just got hired full time at the DZ, so it worked out well for him imo but ymmv. "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  16. since you plan on doing a bunch I would keep it simple the first one. but considering you started your lay off before I ever did my first jump, I dont feel like I have much else to offer in way of advice!! either way, have fun and be safe!!! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  17. be sure to have more than one person measure, unless that one person is very experienced at measuring folks for a rig, jumpsuit, etc.. good luck "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  18. 18.....4 years later she became my wife...we have been married 20 years now...unless you count the pending divorce! (her idea) it only took the 1 tandem to start the ball rolling, I did one with my daughter as a gift a year and a half ago...I came back 2 months later with my tax refund, got my A...bought a used rig....then I helped my daughter get her A, then a RW suit...etc....long story short; my wife has had enough!!!
  19. Are you using a pull-up cord or a packing tool to pack your rig? I ask that because I normally use a pull up cord, ones that I get for free from the pro shop. Most of the time they are black with white lettering, the same white lettering that flakes off all over my rig when I remove it from the pin/closing loop! Recently they got a bunch in that had no lettering, just all black, the store manager was annoyed but I was thrilled and grabbed a few. I have a packing tool but I find it much easier to keep a pull up cord in my harness so I dont lose it. just what I thought of when I read ur post... "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  20. My first 10 jumps I almost rode the plane down each and everytime. I was so scared I wanted to cry. I only jumped in the beginning cuz I had talked so much about "learning to skydive" to my family and friends I could not face the idea of telling everyone I backed out. (a couple of months prior I had done my first tandem, and I was hooked before we opened the main) Plus I had already spend a grip of cash on an Alti-track, helmet, gloves, etc.. all before my FJC. Looking back it was not to wise but since it helped me keep going I am glad I did. It will get better, then it will get worse, then better, etc.....at least for me the only time I get scared is when I deploy, (its super-scary if I packed it!!) good luck and just keep jumping! "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  21. ur too lazy to fill out ur profile and u want help? start with filling out ur profile, for what its worth..... do u actually skydive? just wondering cuz according to your profile u have never jumped? but after ingesting all the facts I will give u a $1.05 if u pay for shipping...... "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  22. It was plenty!!! Its pretty cool with so many new A licenses there lots of DZ beer lately... Im there pretty much every weekend either working or jumping, so I am sure we will get to jump together soon! cya.... "Tell ya the truth, I don't think this is a brains kind of operation."
  23. Congrats on your A! And thanks for the beer!! If your jumping this weekend hit me up, and we can do some jumps. I can setup a 2 or 3 way with someone a bit more experienced and I will shoot video of you guys and hook u up with a DVD or just a download if thats all you need. We did a jump with Mark on Saturday after he recently got his A, he did his 28th & 29th jumps with 2 other guys and I did video. I think maybe the dive flow was a bit complicated for such a new jumper but Mark did much better than I would have at that point. Plus not having a jumpsuit with booties make RW a bit harder imo! here is the link to the video from Saturday with Mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnhEnrEipHY I remember how lost I felt after getting my A and wasted alot of money on solos so I make a point to encourage new jumpers to do RW, and EVERYONE loves to have their jumps filmed!! Also be sure to take advantage of Excel, FREE COACHING by some awesome belly flyers next one is scheduled for Sept 6! cya, Steve
  24. A few guys at my DZ have them and seem to like them. As for what you should do; I suggest you hold off on the camera till you have the recommended experience. (200 jumps) I can sympathize with your situation. I am dying to bolt a still camera on my camera helmet but it is suggested you do 100 video only jumps before adding a still into the mix, and I only have about 50 video jumps at this point so I am waiting on the still camera.
