  1. Time and a half after 5pm Mon to Fri and double time all weekend and bank holidays!
  2. I call TROLL!!!! 300 jumps, 1 year in the sport and looking to downsize 2 sizes in order to break into the sub 100 canopy size. One small problem is that you still seem to be under a 2.0 wingloading, best go down another size just to be sure! A good canopy to train on would be the one you are on now! Please enlighten us as to what you are doing already on that canopy towards learning to swoop. I get the impression from your post that you have done nothing yet but INTEND to do 200 hop and pops soon. Is that prior to downsizing or after? An excellent place to train would be Empuria because that is the home of Brian Vacher of The Safe Flight School and current PD Factory Team Pilot. Hopefully while you are training there you will be sensible and seek some coaching from Brian before you hurt yourself.
  3. So heres a question for all you continual cock checkers... What happens when after you've done your normal packjob, with all its normal cock checks, however many and in whatever way you like to do them. You are then on the flightline about to board or at altitude about to exit and you ask for a pin check. During the check the guy says "there's no colour in the window", what do you do? Do you not board or not exit the plane? My god, please think of the children. So you've packed, you've done about 10 cock checks during that pack, you know you've checked the cock, the cock is OK, but somehow right at the critical moment there's no colour in the window. My god, can someone please explain what to do now, it doesn't bear thinking about. I can't imagine a more horrifying situaton. Please help!
  4. US history lessons?...... Surely you can wrap that one up in 5 mins over a coffee......
  5. The RDS I use has exactly the same sized slider as the original "fixed" one. So NOT keeping the grommet placement the same. I use a Lookma RDS on a Velo.
  6. Awesome! Would love to know more, how was this achieved? What canopy size was used and at what wingloading? How long could you remain stood on the Wingsuit? Absolutely Awesome!
  7. Personally I would not attach anything to my rig that would not fail if needed to. No matter how small the possibility is, it is possible that a line could catch it and wrap itself around that attachment, locking your canopy to your rig. Without a fail point that bartack will not give. A better solution is to use Velcro on the back pad part of the rig so any snags will just peel the velcro. (This has to be designed properly so that the velcro peels correctly, very easy though, PM me for the design). I have used an RDS for many years now on different canopies and different sizes (Sabre 2's, Katanas and Velos). I use a German Design from www.Lookma.de. I have also used a removeable slider now for over 900 jumps. Some people say its only around 5 seconds quicker than normal stowing but that's wrong IMO. I went back to a magnetic keeper recently and the normal slider had to be 1. collapsed 2. pulled down over the riser loops and toggles, 3. Rolled up and 4. Stowed behind your head using the magnet. I found this took significantly longer than just pulling a handle and stuffing it down your shirt. At least a good 20 seconds more. Using a removeable slider means the visibility is MASSIVELY increased along with a decreased nuisance factor. That is why I always jump with a removeable slider. All jumps, including freefall, not just hop and pops. I only use full RDS when competing. That to me is a good workable situation giving me the benefits as and when needed according to what jumping you are doing. In 900 jumps I have not experienced any opening problems (but I am anal about equipment maintenance), however be warned that on the flip side it is valid that even after 900 RDS jumps one can still rig it up wrong and have a mal!
  8. Did you throw away the zip ties that came with it?
  9. Will you also show us the winning design? I love this competition, over 3 months of sheer suspense!!
  10. Are your steering/brake toggles like the uUPT Trulok ones? They appear to be the same, i.e. They have a pin at the bottom of the toggle. With uUPT Trulok toggles you should pin the excess brake line when you pin the bottom of the toggle. I would suggest you do the same with your toggles. If you do not know what I'm talking about check out page 53 of the Vector 3 owners manual which you can download from their website:-http://www.unitedparachutetechnologies.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=71&Itemid=66 p.s. I know your container is an Infinity and not a Vector. However this procedure for setting your brakes and stowing the excess brake line is a very good method. You'd be surprised how many Vector owners with Trulok toggles don't know that either!
  11. 2nd design (with predominant colours switched around) The logos on the Yellow should be Royal Blue (Print out and scan not too good!)
  12. Here is my design:- Now for the sales pitch... I've used the 4 KK colours as required (Red, Yellow, Royal Blue and Black) I've used the uUPT logos but obviously you can use the KK logos if you wish. The colouring for the logos works best if it's Red on Black or Yellow on Blue. (Perhaps a Yellow Smiley on the left ring instead or a KK logo/website on the sidewalls?) And I've kept the cutaway handle as Red. p.s. Please don't penalise me cos I spell the word colour properly!
  13. My girlfriend has a tiny head (20") and she's selling her old full face Bonehead Mamba! Check out the Classifieds!! Sorry couldn't resist an opportunity for a sale!
  14. The Gedi is different to the standard Gath. It has ear covers which can be removed. Thanks, I've now seen one up close and believe I can, as you suggested, modify the ear covers to take an audible. Thanks again.
  15. I've ordered a new Gath Gedi (primarily as a Tunnel helmet) but was wondering if the removeable earpockets will house an audible securely. Does anyone use a Gedi for jumping with an Audible?
  16. I've been on Dropzone for years (previously on a different username) and I've never had an Avatar! So here is my first attempt at an Avatar. It's my Cat blowing a raspberry, innit!
  17. And who on earth flys a blue tarten coloured reserve?
  18. Lookma, every time! I have had 5 of them, on 5 different canopies. Sabre2-150 and 135. Katana 120 and 107, and now on a Velo 96 and about to get another one for a Velo 90. In every case the openings are MUCH better. The lookma RDS also comes with a D-bag pocket to protect your canopy which works beautifully. I even rigged my Velo 96 with Lookma RDS to a vastly oversized (200) static line rig and I static lined it from 3500 feet. That's how much faith I have in my Lookma RDs and my Velo!
  19. Crashtested Doood!!! Chill out! I think I met you on the flightline at Weston and we spoke about your rig. You seemed a very nice guy! This thread is getting ridiculous!! Trust me I am very like you!! And this goes way beyond!! I'm not the biggest fan of PDF and PM me if you want some more advice. But for what its worth.. here goes...Have you jumped the rig yet? Have you paid for it yet? If both answers are NO can you just send it back? If it was me I would feel very sour wearing thier rig after what they have done to you!! Is there any way you can just give it back without too much loss?
  20. Perhaps Dan is correct, however you only need to press one button to turn the VISO on. I usually press and hold the middle button till I hear a beep then release. I do not have to wait any longer. here is what the manual says:- To turn the power ON, press and hold any key until the VISO beeps, then release the button. Anything else is just Voodu Magic!
  21. Guys, Just recently I've noticed when doing checks on the flightline that more and more new jumpers are using Electronic Altis. (like a VISO). It seems to me that it's very low jumps numbers as well. The 2 guys/girls I checked recently were either straight off AFF or less than 25 jumps. I've also just answered a VISO question in the Gear forum for a guy with 30 jumps. My concern is A. We are all notoriously bad at reading manuals so we don't know the ins and outs of our equipment. And 2. My VISO has the protector screen cut out because its difficult to see in freefall, especially during Freeflying. However I use it primarily as a Swooping aid (I also have an analogue alti on my leg strap) But I feel my years spent on an analogue alti have also put me in good stead and thus I have developed a good altitude awareness. So is a VISO/Electronic Alti a good idea for newbies?
  22. Either of 2 things are happening:- 1. A VISO switches itself off after being on for 14 hours. ie. 14 hours from the last time it was jumped or a button was pressed. (like your Cypres) So what normally happens is you spend all day jumping somewhere hot during those long summer days and you finish up around 7pm. Then the next morning you are back on the first lift at 9am (exactly 14 hours later) and just as you board the plane it switches off. As it was already on when you picked it up you therefore never touched the buttons. Or 2. Some VISO's, and I've had 2 of them are prone to immediately switching themselves off 2 seconds after you've just switched them on. Usually just as you think it's on and you look away. Hence you don't notice it again till you are on the plane. If this is the case then it's a software issue and you'll have to send it back to L&B who will gladly replace it. They are VERY VERY good!
