Maybe it will make more sense with an explanation. What we have is simply that if a person wants to waive his rights, it must be that very person waiving his (or her) own rights. That isn't unreasonable, is it? Since a person below the age of majority cannot sign a binding contract, he cannot waive his own rights, because the waiver is a contract. So, why should it be this way? Because it protects many different people from many different things. Consider, if parents are allowed to sign a waiver for a child, what happens if one parent signs, while the other refuses? Or, if some other adult shows up at the dropzone and signs the waiver for a minor, how would you know that that particular adult has the legal authority to sign that waiver in the first place? The waiver could not be binding if the person signing doesn't have the right to sign for the person whose rights are being waived. Much easier and less conflict ridden to simply say that one can only waive one's own rights. And then, as a side effect, we cannot let a person who cannot sign the waiver for himself jump. I agree with every word of what you just said. But that isn't the way it happens. Not only in skydiving, but other things that require you to sign some sort of waiver. Parents sign the same document for their children that they would sign for themselves if they were taking part in the activity or what ever it may be. Yet the document means nothing if the parent signs it for his/her child. So back to my point. Why does the process of having a parent sign a waiver for their child, for anything make any sense at all? Why are we wasting the paper, if the document means nothing? Well those people need to get their shit together and stop holding up the line that is causing even more of my time to be wasted on nothing. here is a hint how to get in and out fast, AND get your order right..Park your car, use your legs, walk inside....You will be out MUCH faster! In some cases maybe ... And when the drive thru line is super long, I do go inside. However, sometimes the same slow ass people are inside studying the menu like it's a organic chemistry textbook, while you are standing right behind them. That especially cracks me up at "In and Out" , where the menue is what 6 items? Hahahaha ... I thought of a solution. Dual lane drive thru at all places that have drive thru's. However, one lane is only used for people who only want a fucking cup of coffee. Same idea inside, one register only used for people like me. I bet it'll be lively. i would say yes, bring it in case you land off. i wouldnt ever use it under canopy though. Hands free voice activated cell phone wouldn't be any different than using a portable amateur radio transceiver, as it was mentioned above. OMG, What ever happened to "Be here now". Maybe it's just me... Well making a cell phone call under canopy is kind of stupid in my opinion, but I can see why amateur radio operators are into doing altitude hop n pops to work long range stations. not the order takers fault, that would be a mgmt issue. and actually yes, you would be surprised how many people do just that. I agree, that is not the order takers fault, but it does piss me off. I was in a Starbucks drive thru a week ago and the guy literally wasted at least two minutes of my time with all the stupid bullshit they were having him say. If you grab a coffee at Starbucks everyday for a year and have to deal with that shit, they have wasted over 12 hours of my life on something that did not benefit myself or their business. I don't think I have ever ordered anything in any drive thru, due to suggestions that were being made. I usually know exactly what I want. Because some large/busy DZ's do not give a shit if you ever get your A or not. Why should they? No one should expect that anyone is ever going to hunt them down and tell you to do this and this and this. Take the initiative, figure out what you need signed off on, and make sure someone is watching from the ground who has the credentials to sign off on it. A lot of it that you don't get signed off on during your AFF jumps, can be witnessed from the ground. There are only a few items on the card that require a coached jump between graduation of AFF and obtaining your A license. If you're saying that the dz staff is just not willing to help you after you've asked, take your money elsewhere.
