  1. If it was capitalism the government wouldn't be involved and spending the money on these failures. Capitalism requires the government to get out and let the free market speak for itself. If it is not profitable and people don't buy it then it will fail. That is capitalism whereas we have the government combating capitalism in this case by trying to keep these failures alive. This is not a failure in capitalism but in socialism and government.
  2. The United states of america is not a democracy!! Its a republic and if you don't like the constitution then you can leave. The founders made it a republic because they understood that democracy results in socialism and oppression! Here is a simple illustration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=PGMQZEIXBMs I will spare you all the quotes from the founders. the Federalist papers are a good place to start to understand such concepts. Once again we are not a democracy!
  3. The 1% buying toys which have to be built and designed by us and then they wreck them so we have to design and build more of them which means we have jobs...... why is that a bad thing again?

  5. Yea, never even heard of that kind of cord.
  6. Okay! Will do! I wasn't sure how big of a deal this was so I will be sure to have a rigger do it. No reason to take the risk. Thanks!
  7. Here is the manual from Aerodyne on how to install the soft links: http://www.flyaerodyne.com/download/SoftLinkManual.pdf My first question is the sowing that is done to secure the ring: Does that have to be done by a master rigger or can it be done by me? It doesn't appear as though you are tying the ring to the riser but instead making a large knot in the middle of the ring to help retain its position, is this actually the case? If I can do it what size thread and needle do I need? If a rigger has to do it do they typically have what is needed for this or do I need to get some for the rigger? Normally I would just go to my DZ and ask my rigger but they are closed for december and january so I am planning to go to Skydive Dallas next week and don't know any riggers there and I don't want to be unprepared and not get to jump it due to this little issue. Thanks!
  8. Caring for others is not behaving like a door mat! Was Christ a door mat for dying for the sins of the world all the while knowing the world would reject him? It is totally and completely the other persons fault for not appreciating the care provided. I lived the same thing. I brought flowers, brought her meals when she had late practices at college, payed for her college, I did the laundry, etc. I was the one who wanted to go on dates and sit and talk at the lake during the sunset like we used too. It ended with her cheating and telling me she wanted a divorce so she could go to parties and be with whomever she wanted too and even her lawyer was frustrated with her and the clear lies she told to try and get money from me and such. And this is not even the tip of the iceberg as to the lies and abuse and what she ultimately did to me so I totally understand, however, one cannot be at fault for caring and providing for the other spouse the way the are supposed to because the spouse is a lying cheat. No one can be blamed for the actions of others. People make their own decisions no matter what anyone else does. People who only care for those who care for them don't care at all. Even the most evil of people care for those who care for them. This is not to say that you allow people to take advantage of you but true love of others is to put them above yourself and that is why Christ is the ultimate example of love. He was put to death by the very people he cared for. If one only cares to get something in return it is not caring but selfishness. That is what I have learned.....
  9. I will admit it is a hand grenade as this is DZ.com but I am still here.
  10. That may still turn out to be the case, just not in the way you think. Mark Profit is always the motive just not in the way most think. It is profitable to for businesses to contribute large sums to non-profit organizations because it advertises that the business cares about people. It is also profitable to have people trust in your product and hiding issues does not help people to trust your product when they find out. Its called freedom and capitalism and it really does work and make the world a better place. (and for those that don't know we do not live in a free capitalist society, thats why my dog has better healthcare than I do!)

    Oh the irony

How about not subject me and everyone else to your thoughts and standards? How about not making us have to pay for everyone else and their mistakes through regulation? Maybe we should regulate the internet so other people don't have to read certain posts and weed through false information etc. Apply the same thought process to skydiving that you are using and you have just outlawed our own sport. Its my life and if I want to destroy it I should be able to do so whether its destroyed by huge debt incurred through the EMSA costs or my death it is my life not yours.
  12. I think you make a key point with that statement. This is then no different than to sue a doctor because you are unhealthy and had a heart attack and died because the doctor couldn't save you after the heart attack. Even if the doctor did something wrong the heart attack caused the death not the doctor. Lawsuits like these result in the removal of preventive care/equipment. In other words, if AAD's aren't required (technically they are only required by the USPA) then your less likely to get sued if you don't have AAD's on student gear and they are informed of that fact therefore they are solely responsible, in the eyes of the lawyers and government, for their life. (I am not suggesting this is a good idea but this is why the healthcare industry is so messed up. My dog gets better care for far cheaper than I can because these kinds of lawsuits and government requirements don't exist.)
  13. I’m just wondering when the US will be a free country again. If the DZ makes no guarantees and you accept the risks, what else is there? Its your own life and you are to, therefore take it upon yourself to determine what you do. No one can force you to pay money and jump out of a plane. If you are ignorant to the risk and reputation of the dropzone then its your fault for not taking the initiative to educate yourself.
  14. or just apply a clear coat of paint over it.
  15. I just got the Neoxs audible altimeter and have a couple of questions that are not addressed in the instructions. First, what is the point of a countdown timer? Second, after 30 seconds the unit goes to standby mode, does that mean you have to do something to turn it on before you jump or is it always ready to jump?

  17. Anyone ever consider this: The government is pushing hard for "green" technology like mag lev trains and such but people won't use them when they could use airplanes, so here is a nice way to "nudge" (as Cass Sunstein would say) the people to make the "right decision" by getting people so sickened by the TSA they would rather take a train that doesn't exist and needs funding for that nobody wants right now. Ever heard of Cass' book called nudge? Its full of stuff like this. " We have received hundreds of e-mails and phone calls from travelers vowing to stop flying,” said Geoff Freeman, an executive vice president of the U.S. Travel Association
  18. Well lets see, since the government is always so trustworthy and honest........no.......wait....... they have already had issues month and months ago with making fun of people and thier size. From article: I asked him if he was looking forward to conducting the full-on pat-downs. "Nobody's going to do it," he said, "once they find out that we're going to do." In other words, people, when faced with a choice, will inevitably choose the Dick-Measuring Device over molestation? "That's what we're hoping for. We're trying to get everyone into the machine." He called over a colleague. "Tell him what you call the back-scatter," he said. "The Dick-Measuring Device," I said. "That's the truth," the other officer responded. When the TSA calls it a Dick measuring device......when adam savage can get two long razor blades through it.......really?
  19. I have a new idea.....How about we follow the constitution and stop giving up our freedoms in order to feel safer and more comfortable when in reality we are no safer than before and in fact have given ourselves over to the tyranny of the government. People didn't fight and died so we could be free only to give it up. Benjamin Franklin - Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. Benjamin Franklin - When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic. Benjamin Franklin - Outside Independence Hall when the Constitutional Convention of 1787 ended, Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it." Have we kept it?
  20. I am sure someone is offended, maybe the mexicans becuase its not a mexican flag or the canadian or europeans because its like we are saying we are better than them, so we should probably just stop the whole thing............
  21. I think government shouldn't be in the business of "marriage" at all, but from a historical and legal standpoint they have to be involved in the civil aspects of it if for no other reason than tax and survivor benefits. Gay marriage from a legal stand point is revenue neutral from a "normal" straight marriage. Plural marriage could open up a can of worms when you consider a group of people getting together to take advantage of tax and inheritance loopholes. I'm certain there are other legal aspects I haven't considered in the last 30 seconds since I've started typing this. Oh, so now you think it's okay to discriminate against bisexuals? Who says someone should not marry someone of each sex? It is only fair, and to deny people their rights because of some outdated prejudices is just wrong. And what about inter-species marriage? There have been many cases of old ladies leaving everything to their poodles and what have you; if that is legal, what is the problem with making it official? The whole argument that the nuclear family is based on a man and a woman by virtue of the process of procreation has been made moot by the miracles of modern medicine. If another species can carry a IVF baby to term, should it not be provided with the legal rights that come with parenthood? Marriage is a wonderful thing. Anyone should be able to marry anything, I say! BSBD, Winsor I don't see how anyone you quoted was saying its okay to discriminate. That accusation is complete unfounded.
  22. Mormon fundamentalists believe that fallacy, too. So the constitution is some sort of fallacy?
  23. Matt. 19 where Jesus is speaking. There were many things that changed with the new testament as compared with the old.
