  1. What a load of bullshit. I was disciplined many ways as a kid. Grounding, timeouts, not getting something, and when I did something really bad I got my ass whipped. My parents are far from child abusers or violent people in any way. When I got the belt I knew I better not fucking do that again. That's discipline, not battery. Congratulations, your star children got lucky and didn't need that sort of discipline. When I was a kid I liked to push the envelope and that's how I learned what not to do. Raise your kids how you want and let other parents do the same. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  2. In hopes that this is a thread about irresponsible parents and not some sort of gun control... I was driving to a softball game yesterday at 6pm. Came up to a red light on a normally busy intersection. There was a little boy, no more than 5 or 6 years old, sitting in the middle of the intersection trying to tie his shoe. No parents anywhere around. Luckily a family in a van jumped out and attempted to slow traffic while one guy grabbed the kid. Turns out he lives 2 houses away from the intersection. His parents and family friends were outside in lawn chairs talking and laughing and had no idea. He said he walks to the park down the street all the time, on his own, nobody giving two shits about him. That kid won't be alive much longer. "Are you coming to the party? 3. What a vague article. I'm sure there is more to the story, one way or another. Obviously legal voter suppression is wrong, but if you've watched the Maddow show for more than about 30 seconds, you realize she leaves out a lot of information to push an agenda. Hopefully we will find out more detail instead of just assuming "they dont want college kids to vote!" "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" 4. I think a top-mounted camera on a TI is pointless. ATLEAST a handicam is designed to feature the passenger...who can't be seen in a top mounted camera. That said, I haven't heard of skyhook-deployed reserves with problems because of a gopro. Have there been? I run handicam so normally I wouldn't have an issue with it. But with a handicap passenger (especially your first one ever) that's just adding too much complication. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" 5. really? in 800 900 plus jumps you have never cut anyone off? you are either really, good. really lucky or only jump at a single 182 dz Mostly option 3! And maybe a little option 2, but most of my swoops are on solo passes or I pull higher and sit in brakes and wait on everyone else. When I go to bigger dz's, I either refrain from swooping or make smaller turns when there is space. I have no desire (or enough currency) to really practice big turns in crowded areas. 6. You guys do know that the Mayans never predicted an end to the world right? Today is like their new years eve! In January I went on a cruise to Progreso and got the run down from the Mayan tour guides. They said they are loving the fame and money tho! On a less serious note, I was watching one of those Apocalypse 2012 shows on Nat Geo and apparently there's some dude who believes that we live in a computer program, and it will shut off at 11:11am CST unless he jumps off this 500ft cliff. During his fall a portal will open and if he falls through it the world will be saved. Cheers to him! "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" 7. Sad but true. Especially in a movie theater. Kids have been using the exit to sneak into movies since I was a little one. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  8. Is there anybody with editing software that can analyze that video super slow? I wonder if the skyhook could pull on the bridle and activate deployment while the pc catches enough air to be trailing in the same direction but not actually overpowering the main. I think there are far more videos of skyhooks working as a mard compared to acting like a regular rsl. Thanks for bringing up the possibility of this happening though, I wasn't aware. My skyhook was a free option, I'm not sure if I would have paid the $250 for it (I bought a new rig from Karnage Krew before Gary went down the shitter). Of the skyhook cutaways I've seen in person, I'm glad I have it just in case but I didn't change my hard deck any. I think that's the thing to take away here. Sure, having a skyhook means you can generally count on quicker reserve deployments, but it shouldn't be banked on. Like any other piece of safety equipment. "Are you coming to the party? 9. Right it comes off when the reserve pc is creating more drag than the malfunctioning main. Which is a pretty rare case but apparently it happens. The vast majority of the time it only disconnects when the reserve is activated without a main canopy out. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  10. When would the skyhook disconnect and act as a normal rsl? The red safety tie thread prevents it from slipping off unless the reserve pc is activated. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  11. Never heard of any bird strikes but I have seen hawks who like to fly around trailing pilot chutes. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  12. You are correct I forgot there was also a modification to the RSL lanyard. Either way, it was my understanding that, among many other variables, the skyhook partially contributed to the fatality which resulted in UPT making the modifications mentioned. Chris I am a fan of the skyhook and own one myself. I'm not hinting that they are unsafe, only that it was my understanding there has been a fatality in which the skyhook was partially to blame. 13. I love how you end every post with some low-blow remark about how everyone is an idiot but you. Care to contribute to the discussion? "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  14. I know why the mod was added and I didn't interpret anything. You asked for an example of a skyhook-related fatality and I listed one. I also wanted to point out how many things had to happen at once for this to happen, and how it is being prevented with the staging loop. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  15. There was the NC tandem double fatality a few years ago. A Cypres fire during the main canopy snivel that caused the reserve bag to fall out and backload the red skyhook lanyard. A cutaway soon followed and the reserve never came out of the bag. In response UPT modified the packing process to include the staging loop to prevent this seemingly rare type of accident. That's the only one I can think of. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  16. Not sure if you guys saw this yet or not. Westboro plans on picketing the Connecticut vigil. Like those families haven't had enough to deal with already. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/16/westboro-baptist-church-picket-connecticut-school-shooting_n_2312186.html "Are you coming to the party? Racism

My bad. I meant disadvantage. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  18. I agree with what you say here. Any he very possibly could have been raised the wrong way. But I have seen some kids I went to school with, part of a very good family with good parents, go completely apeshit when they get out on their own and their parents have no more say. Racism

The truly inspirational black people are the ones who realize they have an unfair advantage, even today, and choose to accept it and overcome it. Like RGIII. Not the ones who use it as an excuse to get what they want. From the interviews I've seen he's an extremely intelligent guy too. Good for him for becoming so successful! Is it just me or does it seem like the people who usually complain about racism are actually keeping it alive. For example Rob Parker. RGIII has made it a point to not bring up his race but he is repetitively asked about it. If you don't want racism, quit acknowledging his race. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  21. Outside of a few people of the Rhuwandian persuasion, I would thing killing twenty something people at one time with a machete is not too likely. In a school full of 5-10 year olds? Seems like you could go into a room and have your way with the lot before a call is even made to police. Unless the teacher was armed... "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  22. You're kidding right? Maybe the banks around you, but around here the security "guards" are either 80 years old or 300lbs overweight. And there's one of them. And he's usually opening the door for you when you walk in. Take him down and you're home free! If you're prepared to rob a bank and get away with it, you're prepared to deal with one guard who isn't even ready for you. What if several other people in that building were also armed, wouldn't you think twice about going in there? "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  23. That's why I laugh every time I go into my bank and see the "no concealed carry guns allowed" sign on the door. If I'm gonna rob a place, guess where I'm going...thats right, a bank where no one will stop me. You know what I wouldn't rob? A gun show, or a shooting range, or any building I know people are carrying guns and can stop me. "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  24. Out of curiosity, if by some stretch of the imagination guns were outlawed, say yesterday or last week or last year, do you think this still would have happened? Would this obviously fucked up individual thought to himself "well shit, now guns are illegal. there goes my plans at a mass murder. I can't use a gun to murder 26 people and then kill myself because guns are illegal"? "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!" Flying Hellfish #828 Dudist #52
  25. It must not be true because surely the defense would be using it to prove some point. Or maybe that's some of the evidence that hasn't been released yet. Who knows? In general, all 5,413 pages of this thread are full of people claiming to know something that they don't. I gotta get my share! "Are you coming to the party? Oh I'm coming, but I won't be there!"
