  1. I can say for certain that none of you know what your talking about when it comes to Clarksville or waverly. As to the OP. We are currently having some problems with the airport. We should be back shortly. The reason nobody could tell you what was going on was that there was a lot of confusion when it came to Waverly. Call back in a few days.
  2. I'm with ya on the 'clean' but would be careful with the lube. Throw a little graphite on them. They dont harm the material like a petrol based lube would
  3. Those must have been some scary insertions. HALO insertion with round canopy at night into the jungle somewhere. Those men have some big balls...
  4. The best variation was made by Adventure SPorts Loft and had a grommet in the bottom that allowed you to pull the ball out the bottom for inspection. That would be the best option. I wonder why that isnt the standard?
  5. Really? Thats your so called inspection? Your not actually able to visually inspect anything inside nor can you put your hands on the equipment without taking it apart. Like I said. Sometimes you just have to trust your equipment. The X-ray is a good idea though.
  6. No you cant. That is one of the arguments I have heard for not having them. Sometimes you just have to trust that your gear was made properly.
  7. When the opening statement contains that big of an error, you know the rest of the article is going to be pretty flawed. America was founded by people looking for ways to make their fortunes. A few people like the Pilgrims came along as well, but for the most part religion played almost no part whatsoever. What did? Tobacco, Pine Tar, Rum, Slaves, Sugar, Fur, Gold . . . Exactly. Why did the settlers need the Native Americans help? Because they were to busy trying to make money and not preparing for the winter months...
  8. Of course you wouldnt. You might actually be talked into making a skydive...
  9. Your right...SR wouldnt have gotten that buisness if it wasnt for SR. But either would that DZ. I think you fail to see the fact that SR brings buisness to DZs that didnt advertise well enough. If SR brings a DZ buisness from some where 3 hours away then so be it. The local DZ didnt do a good enough job of advertising plain and simple. Aside from the past shady buisness practices SR is a good idea. Its a national advertising company for skydiving. Its good for the sport. Its good for local DZs that do not have a big budget to advertise with. Yeah. SR takes a cut but what do you expect? SR advertise for free? They are the ones trying to spread the word. They are the ones footing the bill for national advertiesment. They are the ones bringing the DZs that except their GC more buisness than they would have had anyways. Other people agree with me as other national skydive call centers have sprung up.
  10. Exactly. leave it to the lawyers. There has already been way to much outside interference in all of this. I just wish everybody would just get a long...
  11. Why was it cancelled? Was it for any of the same reasons we couldnt jump? Like a actual DZ not being certified? I KNOW that couldnt be it because...oh yeah thats right every time a military airborne operation is conducted a pathfinder qualified individual will certify it. So. Insurance maybe? I dont think so. Your S-3 air guy who is a long tabber is already hating life so much from sitting in an office all day most likely seen the articles in the paper and cancelled it himself without even really thinking about it. And the part 13 and 16? Well its the government. So i'm sure you can figure out how well its going. The reason a buisness would move down the road to an airport that we cant jump at well........let me see.......this is a hard one......oh duh, TO MAKE MONEY, its a buisness. Would you let your buisness stop becuase you cant jump anymore or would you be a good buisness minded manager and try and keep making money for the company? As for the AST/Skyride thing. They are two different buisnesses Billy. Just like the rest of the people on here who dont like the fact that they dont get all the money from SR GC, we dont either. Like I said, they are our competitor. When we do our own advertising we get more money out of it...however. I have seen a lot of people bitch about this. They want DZOs to stop taking those GC so they can make more money per tandem. Well guess what guys. The reason those customers used skyride is because they seen SR advertising, not the actuall DZs advertising. So you wouldnt of even had that buisness come in if it wasnt for SR investing a lot of money into there advertising. Here is a perfect example of how skyride brought us buisness one time at outlaw: An 18 year old female lived right across the street from the terminal. Even though every weekend we had a turbine aircraft flying she didnt even know that we existed. She happened to run across a SR website and she signed up. She then walked across the street the next weekend and did her FJC and her first AFF jump. Without SR she could have moved before she realized we were there (which happened not to long after she completed her AFF) Or maybe she would have noticed canopys in the air and she would have walked over. Who knows. The point is SR brings buisness to DZs that they normally wouldnt get. Even if we are owned by the same persons they are STILL a competitor. Get this through your thick skulls people!
  12. This just goes to show how all of you are misinformed about everything and are just billy vances lackeys. The military is DOD. DOD is a federal entity. Outlaw field is a federal funded airport. See where i'm going with this?... Ok i figured you wouldnt because you are all just brain dead and cant think on your own. The HALO jumpers as well as the DEMO team will not be affected. There are many reasons for us not jumping at Outlaw. Many of those reasons could and maybe will someday affect ALL OF YOU! And no 1-800-skyride is not burning DZs. Jeff Napier and that crowd of idiots who think skyride and AST are the same (even though they are actually our competitor) are the ones who started the fire in TN because they got their feelings hurt because we provide a better service than they do. In the words of my good friend Tandem Cowboy "See you in hell bitches!" Cuz thats where I will see all of you eventually...
  13. Thats what I was thinking as well. I recently had a chance to talk to Bill Booth about this at Skyfest. He said that is one of the reasons he switched over to magnetic rier covers.
  14. Hmmmm...Business issue or TI issue? This particular vid, it's obvious. Believe it or not, there are TIs who would not do that. Granted, very few, but there are some. Regardless...the second video was filmed at the farm...I know your all about saftey so why dont you bitch about the instructor or the DZ that employed that TI? You wont because its the farm and nothing bad happens there right? Your such a whiny little bitch popsjumper
  15. Brett nobody has ever said it any better! I look forward to hanging out with such a rational mind again this weekend. Lets do some drinking!
  16. The real cool thing is a Vigil tells the user a lot about the previous jump before you even send it in. And, when you send it in, they send you back a complete graph of speed, time, and altitude. You will be able to discover why it fired. Let us know what you find. That is a cool feature. I cant wait to see why it fired. As for his name and what DZ it happened at...His name is Justin and he was visiting and made this jump at a DZ in NW GA
  17. True but there is no rosy smell for a S@#tty situation like that
  18. He was close to 4500 when it happened as we broke off at 5000. Yes he did turn it on at the DZ and no I dont believe it was his first jump of the day, I think he waited to get on the same load as his GF and dad that were doing tandems. It was also fairly new I think. He normaly jumps accuracy canopies for the Air Force academy and I think he had only put a few jumps on this new rig.
  19. If that is what indeed did occur then yes, that is unacceptable. I would also like to point out at this time that Skyride and ASC are not the same thing. I know people try to get this point across all the time but nobody seems to care.
  20. Last Tuesday I had a 4 way zoo dive at one of my favorite DZs and while in a track I looked over at one of the guys I jumped with have a Vigil fire while he was also in a track. Needles to say he was shaken and bruised. Reserve fire while in a track...not cool. Buy a Cypress
  21. I think that situation sucks. I'm also not going to believe anything posted on a random website either. How many complaints do you think are actually valid versus complaints that are made up or over exagerated? Example: I listened to the manager of a DZ get berated by the father of a tandem student because his daughter was sitting on the ground waiting to jump while others were jumping and he wanted to know why his daughter paid money but was not jumping. He stated that he was making a formal complaint. The truth to that "complaint" is that there was a weather hold because of clouds and we had put up a few hop and pop loads to satisfy the fun jumpers that were chomping at the bit to jump. He saw this and figured he had gotten ripped off. You cant always beleive what the internet says and that goes both ways too. If you dont trust some random Skyride site then why would you always beleive a site that opposes the Skyride site?
  22. How the hell do you find this sh@$t dude. Do you spend every waking hour searching the internet? If you jumped as much as you posted you really just might be a skydiver instead of a former skydiver.
  23. This is a MIRPS SLCP pilot chute. The spring is not incorporated in the PC as these reserves stay packed for 1 year and loose compression within two pack cycles usually. All you have to do is replace the spring and continue packing instead replacing the whole PC.
  24. Oh snap! Come on Napier get the attorney general on the phone right now, I'm sure they are violating something!
  25. My guess is: I just work and jump here. I have nothing to do with Skyride business practices. BUT I'm more than willing to take the money they earn from those practices. Lance, some of you guys over there are good people...some are not. As far as the Skyride jumpers are concerned, you guys aren't blind. You guys aren't totally in the dark about what's going on. All some of us are saying is, how can you justify participating and supporting Skyride by working for them? Your answer seems to be: Other people/companies do it so it's OK if I work for people/companies that do it. I just don't understand that mentality. On top of that, don't you see that Skyride is doing major damage to the skydiving industry? Do you think that those who get ripped off are telling their friends what a wonderful industry skydiving is? Do you think those who read and see the negative exposure we are getting from the print and broadcast media are thinking that this is only one business out of hundreds? Something to think about. One other thing. let's both refrain from posting dumbass, snide comments back and forth. If we can't have a discussion without resorting to that shit, save it, stow it and let it pass. I will even if you won't. Thank you. Just so you know....I would love to see ASC as an independent DZ. You guys could have all the fun you wanted and not be contributors to the Skyride business practices. I would even come over and jump with you guys periodically. (OK, so that might not be so deirable on your part but I would offer, at least.) What we hate is hypocricy. Others get on here and try to tear us apart for working for an "evil" company yet they are willing to go give their hard earned money to companys that have an international track record of abuses. I cant speak for others but that is my mentality.
