  1. I know this thread is a little outdated but I figured I could give a little input into this area. I own the following canopies so I can help you out with my opinion on them. I have a Vengeance 120 and 135, Velocity 103 and 96, and a Katana 120. I weigh 200lbs for an exit weight so that might give you an idea of wing loading and performance on each of the canopies. Out of all these canopies the Katana 120 and Velocity 103 are my absolute favorite. The Katana is one of the funnest canopies I have ever owned. The Vengeance is a good canopy but in comparision to the Katana does not hold a candle. I can get a much better landings on the Katana then on the Vengeance and I can even come close to swoops with the Katana vs. The Velocity but the Velocity still takes the cake. The openings on the Katana vs. the Vengeance are about the same and a little bit smoother on the Vengeance although I only have about 60 jumps on the Katana vs 350-400 on the Vengeance so I'm still trying little things here and their to get the Katana to pack up right. All in all I have to say the Katana has an amazing feel to it. I can't put my finger on it but compared to all my other canopies it is my absolute favorite and the one I now find myself jumping the most. But hey, try them all out and you be the judge. Many friends who have my similar canopies also agree that their is something about the Katana the is just pure greatness. I haven't been so excited about a canopy since my first Sabre 10 years ago! FF2

I just received my FF2 from 2K Composites and I have to say this is the best camera helmet I have ever had! I have a couple other camera helmets and nothing else even compares to it. No snag points and all smooth lines. I have a Sony PC120 and it's as if it was designed just for this camera. The fit is absolutely perfect. They installed the Cam-eye for me at the factory and did a great job. I also have the cutaway option and it was easy as pie to get it to fit me perfect. The whole set up took me about an hour to dial it in with the camera and the cutaway work that has to be installed. But all in all it was very easy. The helmet is so comfortable you don't even know it's on your head. My PC120 is a bit heavier then many of the other vid-cams out their but with this helmet I can't even tell. It's balanced incredible and very well made. I just had the chance to fly it for the first time and it is awesome. I can't say it enough but I would like to thank the folks at 2K Composites for keeping me up to date on the delivery and progress of the helmet before I got it. They are super prompt and very kind over their. I would highly recommend this helmet to anyone who wants the highest quality out their and the easiest camera helmet to use. You wont be sorry.

    Katana

I have about 50 jumps on my Katana 120 with the wing loading at about 1.9. I have read many reviews from people saying the Katana is a ground hungry canopy and they list that as a con under the dropzone.com review section. Perhaps if these folks would have read PD's review on this canopy they would understand this is not a con but how the canopy actually is. This is the closest thing to a Velocity that they make. I have a Velocity 103 and I have to say my 120 Katana is pretty damn close in the performance department. Although my Velocity still takes the cake there are things about the Katana I love. I have not had a bad opening yet. To me what I notice with the Katana even more then good packing are 3 things for a great openings, 1. Body position, 2. Body position, 3. Body Postion. Steer this canopy with your body and the openings are dead on and beautiful. Yes it's ground hungry but what do you expect from a canopy that swoops as well as this one. The riser pressure is the best I've even flown and ANY canopy. It never buffets no matter how long you hold those puppies down. I think PD put quite a bit of work into this one. I am absolutely amazed at the performance especially from a non cross-braced canopy. I would compare it to an airlocked canopy but I had 2 difference Vengeance canopies and was not happy with either one of them in the performance department and think that a Stilleto performs better then the Vengeance any day of the week. Anyhow, before you get a Katana do a little research so that you know what to expect before you buy it. Ground Hungry-Yes, Openings tricky-Only if you make them that way. All in all one of the best canopies to come around in years if you know what your getting into. Blue Skies and Safe Dives!
  4. I have a PC-120 and I am wondering if someone could tell me the weight and dimension difference between the 120 and the 330. Is the 330 lighter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  5. Let your rigger take your whole rig apart on your next reserve repack. It will be the easiest time to just take the container and wash it. This is what I have done in the past and it always comes out great. Even if you don't have any grass stains having your rig washed every so often you will be amazed how nice it will look. 6. Get the Sabre 2. I don't know what people are talking about with the openings but I have had all fantastic openings with the Sabre 2. I can't say the same about the original Sabre but the Sabre 2 is a whole new animal. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  7. Could someone tell me in there opinion what is the best and most importantly the safest camera helmet available? I have never flown camera and I need a camera helmet for a Sony PC-120. I just want to shoot video and I do mostly freeflying. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  8. I have alway's had Sunpath products for around 10 years. I currently have 2 Odyssey's and a Mirage G4.1. I have to say the only reason I didn't get a Mirage for all these years was price. But they now have smokin deals on there rigs so I decided to finally take the plunge. I got my custom G4.1 about 3 months ago and I absolutely love it. I am not doggin on Sunpath but I think my Mirage is the far superior (at least in comfort) rig. It feels like I have a pillow on my back. If your issue is comfort then the Mirage is the way to go. If you are sticking with Sunpath then I would definetely go with the Odyssey, not only for the laterals and comfort but it is a much easier rig to resell. I had good ol Javelins for years and once I got the Odyssey I never wanted to look back. But anyhow food for thought about the Mirage, it's an awesome alternative if you willing to try something new. If not the Mirage and you are going to stick with Sunpath then just purely for economics I would spend the extra bucks on an Odyssey simply just for resale if for nothing else. Good luck with whatever you do. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  9. I have owned Sunpath for the last 10 years and had the same issue of wait time. I still have 2 Odyssey's which I absolutely love but I ordered a Mirage G4.1 and couldn't be happier. It is one of the most comfortable rigs I have ever owned. My only issue is the D-Bag. What's up with that weird thing. Once I got used to that it was the best container I believe I have ever owned.
  10. I'm sorry for asking, I really didn't mean to get anyone into an argument. I really don't have time to search through postings I just figured maybe someone would have an update since the old postings I would think don't have anything. I am no expert at these forums so my apoligies. Thanks There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  11. I know that this question has been asked and I know that many of you might say there are numerous posting regarding the new PD canopy but did any one get a chance to see what this new canopy was at the wffc. Its obvious from the pictures that it's a 9 cell but it almost looks similar to a Vengeance and that it might have airlock's? Does anyone know anything more about it. I know PD is close to releasing all the info about it but maybe if we keep speculating and starting rumors they might just have to release it a little sooner There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  12. Does anyone know what happened to the jumper in Rantoul? I had heard a rumor that there was a fatality. If this indeed is true, my sympathies to the family. I am truely sorry for your loss. 13. Does anyone know now anything about the new PD canopy other then the fact it's a 9 cell. I talked to PD on Monday at Rantoul and they were going to do a demo using the PD Swoop team and the new canopies on Tuesday. Unfortunately we had to leave that day and didn't get to see them. Does anyone know anything more about them? Please let me know. Thanks There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  14. Never ever give up. This is one of the golden rules in skydiving. Use this in all aspects of skydiving and you are bound to have a great future in the sport. I have nearly 3000 jumps and I still learn something every single jump! I can remember the beginning very clear myself. I had the lump in my throat on every jump. For me my biggest conquest was that I wanted to loose that fear so I could truely enjoy the sport. After a while it finally came together and although I still respect it greatly, it just keeps on getting better. Hang in there, knitting causes arthritis. I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman where the Self Help section was. She said if she told me it would defeat the purpose. Mirage G4

I have just received my Mirage G4 a couple of weeks ago. I have owned Sunpath products my whole Skydiving career of about 10 years. I was hesitant to switch but a nearly 6 month wait for a new Odyssey had me frustrated. I had alway's wanted a Mirage but just could not justify spending that kind of money. Well now that Mirage has all sorts of deals it was time to take the plung. First off, I wish I would have spent the money years ago with Mirage. The rig is so incredibly comfortable that you don't even feel like you have it on. I can't believe how this rig fits!!! Also, it seems to me that going over the features on the rig if you are a freeflyer this is with no question the absolute best rig on the market. And as far as looks go it is the most streamline, beautiful container I have ever owned. Well they say it is never too late and I would strongly recommend to anyone to just go try one and I guarantee you'll be sold. I still love and own 2 Odyssey's and never want to rip on Sunpath but as far as comfort goes I have to say the Mirage is the surefire winner. I'm actually thankful that Sunpath has that kind of a wait otherwise I would of had 3 Odysseys and never known how great the Mirage truely is. Anyhow, I strongly recommend this container.

  18. Does anybody know what the new PD canopy coming out is? ie Crossbrace Airlock? New twist on an old design? It is driving me nuts! If anyone knows anything about the new canopy please post it up!!!! There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.

    Cypres

A great piece of equipment for those unexpected times. The only thing to watch for is this. Any low pullers, freeflyers without audibles or any other reason for not paying attention to how close you are to mother earth watch your altitude when pulling your main. Two unintentional canopies out could be just as bad as having that life saving cypress on. Other then that it is one of the greatest things to have in skydiving today.
