  1. No they are not different. They make the new Altitrack which is an altimeter and flight computer combined into one. You must be thinking of something else. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  2. Can anyone with one of these units tell me how to get the backlight on? I know in the manual it says to press the top right button. I'm having no luck with that and wondering if there is something else that needs to be set before this function operates. I've read and re-read the manual over and over and it just isn't telling me what to do. Anyone who speaks Larsen and Brusgaard please translate how to get this to operate for me. Thanks There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  3. TRV 70 box on what helmet? Bonehead xxxxxxx? There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  4. I'm also very interested in using one of these devices with the Archos AV500. However, I have heard that the hard drives often fail above 10,000 ft? I wonder if they have fixed this issue with this more current AV500/700 model? There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  5. So do you have any idea of were to mount the actual recording unit? i.e. fanny pack (God I hate those two words), or any other type of pouch? There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  6. Were are you mounting your recording device? I am attaching a link with a picture of the system I'm talking about and perhaps someone could give me some examples. I really like the idea of this system for the idea of having almost zero weight added to the helmet. My neck has suffered enough after thousands of jumps and I really want something lightweight. I'm not filming tandems or aff so all I need is a fun system and I thought this might be an answer. Anyone else using this type of system? 8. I was really looking for the portable device not the full blown already inflated gear. I can't remember what it's called but it's the size of a cd case but thicker and uses C02 to inflate. Oh well, I was told Square 1 has them so Monday morning I will give them a buzz if nobody else knows were to get them. 9. Does anyone know were I might find flotation gear for an upcoming boogie over the water. It's a required piece of equipment which I just found out about and am now scrambling to find something quickly. 10. Got it. Thanks again for your help. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  11. Thanks very much. Is it really on the screen and I can't see it? Or am I just the victim of one of many skydiving pranks I've been blinded by over the years. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  12. So would you mind clarifying it since you can see it? I must be blind. Is the line supposed to mean unlimited? There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  13. I'm on a Mac and that does nothing. Heeeeeeeeeeeeelp! There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  14. Actual answer would be great. I probably could find it in my FAR/AIM's but am just to lazy. Typical skydiver I know but just this once would be great. Thanks. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  15. My friend is taking his test for a B license and had borrowed my 2006 SIM. However he cannot find an answer to one of the questions asked and I just don't remember and I am a little embarrassed I don't know the answer as a skydiver and a pilot. So if anyone knows this please respond. The question is, what is the furthest distance a skydiver can be dropped from the dropzone? It is a multiple choice questions with the answers ranging from certain distances to unlimited mileage with seats and seatbelts. Please help. Thanks. 16. I've had them both and there seems to be no real winner between either one. I know packers prefer the G3 because of the regular D-Bag but now you can get the regular dbag in a G4 so no more excuses. I have noticed it depends on the individual container. The first Mirage I jumped about 6 or 7 years ago was the most comfortable Mirage I had ever used. Everyone at the DZ loved it and everyone wanted to buy it but the owner said no way. When a duplicate rig was ordered with the exact specs it didn't even come close to the comfort of the original rig that it copied. Even after hundreds of jumps and being broke in, using the same size main and reserve, no dice. So I really think it's the individual rig and both are very similar in comfort in my humble opinion. I think it would boil down to $$$ and personal preference. Either one is a winner. I think also certain rigs are more comfortable because they were built on a Tuesday or a Wednesday. Make sure you check the day your rig was completed. If they say they'll have it finished on a Friday, tell them to wait until the following week and finish it up mid-week
  17. That's one of the funniest things I've seen on any of the forums in a long time. Great job with the Photoshop. You have to love that software! There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  18. That's to funny! I think the problem is all of the skydiving community knows about these scam artists but it's up to us to let the general public know about them as well. I am actually going to build a website regarding their corrupt activities. I know I can get at the top of the search engines better then they can so lets see what happens. Website will be done in a couple of weeks and if anyone has any "real" information or stories please send them to me as I want to put up actual facts because somehow they are brave enough to take people to court for things they are not justified in suing for and I want everything on this site to be factual. I will post another message once I'm done with the site. I'm thinking of a forum also for new people to be able to read about them and their practices so they don't make any mistakes that others have with purchasing from this company. 19. Anyone know when this is coming out? My in-laws asked me what I wanted for Christmas and this was on the list. They live in another state and tried to be discreet about were to find this but ran out of luck. I thought originally they said late fall so I assumed it would be here before Christmas and I would be jumping with it on New Years Eve. Now I'm hearing that it's not coming out until early 2006. I guess the gift certificate for my gear shop will do I just wish I knew exactly when it was going to be released. 21. I posted a few months back on the topic of PD's new smaller packing reserves. Does anyone have any updates on these new reserves? I figured before I dropped PD a line I might get some info from anyone who might know something about them, info like a possible release date or if they are even coming out at all. Thanks in advance for your replies. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  22. Its hard for something to "sound" stupid. It may "seem" stupid but "sounding" stupid is not quite what your looking for. But I "see" what your saying about the metaphors. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
  23. "BS meter just went through the roof....that is just as bed as the Icarus ad saying that that the Safire 2 openings are "as soft as falling into pillows" or whatever." The difference is that it's actually true. Did you notice the rigs I have? I'm not promoting anything or anyone. It's my "opninion" from items actually owned and used which last time I checked was allowed to be posted on these forums.. It's a personal observation I have had and I don't understand the "BS meter" that you speak of. How do you know my feelings are BS? Why would you say that? 24. I have a couple G4's and a Jav and love them both. Jumped a Voodoo about 2 months ago and really liked it as well. Very tough call. I would go with whatever you think works best for you. For me I have gone back and forth between Sunpath and Mirage over the last 10 years and it always just depends on what's available at the time. My recent new rig is an Odyssey with what I believe to be the most comfortable backpad and legpads I have ever had. It feels like a down comforter on my back. But my G4's are great as well except for packers always complaining about the split d-bag which is now available as a regular bag if asked for before you order. You can't go wrong with either. I think looks wise Mirage is the king of the hill hands down. It has the best build quality and appearance as far as I'm concerned but everyone has their own opinion. 25. Here's something to chew on. I have a Velocity a Vengeance and a Katana. All are loaded about the same give or take and without a question my Velocity handles the winds better then all. The Vengeance is a great canopy but on a day that has turbulance chances are you have some nice ground winds as well. Just imagine who always make it onto the year end video when they don't get the canopy with airlocks collapsed fast enough once on the ground. It's quite a show and not always enjoyable. I believe the Velocity does well only because it's such a stiff wing. I think my Katana does very good also considering no cross braces and the Vengeance is great but nothing better then any other canopy I have flown in the conditions you are asking about. Just my humble opinion and from the experiences I have had. There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those that know how to count, and those who don't.
