  1. You and this woman. Know her? .jim Just what are you trying to establish, here? Are you trying to show to us that you're an elitist who holds himself above others who don't appear as "intelligent" or "educated" as he is; who laments the freedom that others have to vote, even out of ignorance? Because that's what it sounds like. Obviously, the subtext of what you're saying is, "Man, isn't it shitty that we have to let dumb country people vote?" Besides, I didn't say anything about his name being Hussein; I didn't call him a muslim; I didn't even say anything about his skin color. I simply said he's weird-lookin'. Yet you likened that to all the bigoted stuff that the dumb hick woman was saying. Howzat? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  2. Really? Tell us everything you know about the entrapment defense. I'll let you go first. You have this tendency to insert a sort of smugness in your posts. Do you know that? Oh, my God, Jeff, you are nothing if not entertaining. Would you like to take a poll on the irony score on that one? You might as well poll to see who thinks I would really give a shit. 3. If you want to get going with sling-making and slinging, I recommend that you start here. This is the pattern for the sling I made, and it's a really great build-along. Just make sure you keep your turns nice and tight and even. You'll have to make adjustments to the number of them in the split part of the sling in order to accommodate a golf ball. On that part, I have ten turns, and that works perfectly (assuming you'll be using paracord of the same diameter I am). I'd like to get enough Spectra line to make one of these. Not sure if it'd be wide enough to make the strands of the split pouch hold the golf ball reliably, though. Maybe one day I'll find out. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  4. I notice your lack of relevant examples and data. That's nice. I'm not here to convince anyone. And I'm not interested enough to go digging up links and lines for you to read. You have your mind made up, and I have my mind made up, based on our respective experiences and the things we've seen, heard, and read. I'm OK with that. 6. Irrelevant, since Obama has not made such claims in his campaign. Like that's something that, if true, he'd be announcing on the national stage during the presidential campaign. Once again, just like his claims of being "pro-second-amendment," you have to look at what he's done and said in his past, not what he's saying now to be politically expedient. 7. Good job we don't have a candidate like that running. I'd have a hard time voting for anyone whose party in 2000 considered him a worse choice for president than G.W. Bush. I'd have a hard time voting for anyone who made rape victims pay for their own rape kits and forced them to bear the children of the rapist. Did you know that the cost of the kits used to collect platelets via plateletpheresis is passed on to the cancer patients who receive the blood products? What unmitigated gall!! Thinking that someone needs to actually pay for things! (P.S. I'm not familiar with and haven't read up on this Palin allegation. And if you don't like people being forced to bear children of rapists, maybe our society would do better to execute sex criminals, and empower women to be armed and prepared to take them out when they strike. And I don't mean for dinner and a movie.) Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

  9. I'm a white who would indeed have trouble voting for a black person who has made clear that serving black people's interests is a priority over serving people's interests (of all races). Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

  11. You know, the funny thing is, there are such parallels between this omnivor/vegetarian debate and the pro-gun/anti-gun debate. In both cases, we have a group who, since they don't like something, don't want the other group to be able to have that thing, and do what they can (whether futile or not) to try to stand in the way of it. On the other hand, those who want the thing (guns, meat) NEVER try to force the others to partake. No one is trying to outlaw not having a gun. No one is trying to outlaw not eating meat. 12. Oh, right, sorry, that can't possibly be used for eating meat. So you treat that the same as "don't break down red meat"? Hey, what about white meat, like pork, or cat? ???? Um, neither I nor anyone I know is unable to get meat swallowed. (Yeah, I know how that sounds. Deal with it.) How fortunate for your point that you forgot to mention our CANINE TEETH. And since when do you grind your food with your incisors? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  13. That's funny, because in the make-believe world of the anti-gunners, anyone who owns a gun and stands firm on his right to do so is also named "Bubba"! Wears overalls or suspenders, keeps a stalk of grass between his teeth, never got past 8th grade, mates with his cousins... Nope. No doctors, lawyers, engineers, er, proofreaders own guns! No college degrees allowed! It's one of the prohibited conditions there on the 4473! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  14. The dead do nothing but decompose. I have ancestry from Poland and Russia, to the best of my knowledge. I'll bet I would enjoy visiting both places at some point, but that doesn't mean I feel I really have ties to there. My ties are to Long Island, NY, and even that is nothing like I remember it being before I moved away. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

    Morons!

Well, honestly, "Nothing Like the Sun" is an album with a lot of really good songs on it.
  16. I've also read of some Angel Flight crashes recently. Those are really sad. Well, they're all sad -- the idea of victims and life-savers alike dying in crashes is tragic all the way around. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

I can't believe your sig has a quote from "Englishman In New York"! I was listening to that "new Sting album" back in what, 1988? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

  21. So I take it you've traveled extensively in both continents then, eh? Given that, what makes you come to such a conclusion? No, I have not. One need only look at the history of Europe to see that it has NEVER been a peaceful place. Always giving rise to psychotic despots, and social and military unrest. I don't think one has to have "traveled extensively" to see what Europe has been about for centuries. That's not to say that some people don't enjoy pleasant lives in Europe -- or Asia or North America or South America, for that matter. But the political reality is that the place has historically torn itself the fuck apart over and over and over again. But I guess since I haven't lived there or traveled extensively, my view of it isn't worth shit -- just like historians' views of medieval Europe aren't worth shit because they don't have time machines. 22. That don't confront me... long as I get the rent money by next Friday! Hey, I didn't know the announcer's name, but I recognize the voice as being the same guy who made the calls for the Stuart Airshow... I like him.!
  23. John Mohr does things with a stock Stearman biplane that would make other pilots run away like sissies! I've seen him fly twice, in person, at the Stuart Airshow in Florida. Just... makes my jaw drop every time. If you got, in your life, only one opportunity to see a master pilot fly his airplane, you should use that one shot to see John Mohr fly this Stearman.
