  1. No but as long as the weather is good(I kid) you should be able to get in a bunch of Otter and maybe Skyvan loads. If theres enough people(and interest) they will fly the jet... Someday Never Comes
  2. 0:13:1 10 Freeflys and 3 very fun tracking dives. Hit my 200th jump on Sunday, hence the beer. Was my last weekend at Perris for at least a few months. Damn, I'm gonna miss that place, it was a hell of a year. Wisconsin and the Cesna DZ's are in my future...Those of you in Wissota and Superior...I'll be seeing ya soon. PM me your fav brands of beer. 3. 0:12:0 11 sitflys(finally grasping the concept of docking) and 1 8 way speed star attempt(Built a 7 way) with 4 FF and 4 RW jumpers. The free flyers exited backflipping the RW guys took long dives. Had 2 cameras on the jump so it was a pretty cool visual Someday Never Comes
  4. Was on a light otter load doing a 2 way and a tandem student asked us if it was our first jump too... Someday Never Comes
  5. 7:0:0 Good stuff. Oh and Roger Waters played an amazing show so I can let not jumping slide by. Someday Never Comes
  6. Eh...I think its a bit more complicated than that. When you meet someone for the first time you probably trust they aren't going to pull a gun and shoot you. But as someone else said you certainly wouldn't trust them with personal information. So I think its down to degrees. Then again I could be splitting hairs for some of the folks here. My money is on that you had something pretty specific in mind when you posted this and I'm taking it in a direction you didn't intend. Life happens eh? Someday Never Comes
  7. Wait...are you a Marine/Sailor in 29?? If so...I think we might be neighbors. To the OP. Elsinore and Perris are both an hour and change away from LAX. If I can get out to either(probably Perris) and your there I'd be willing to hang. Someday Never Comes
  8. I once had a friend who had one hell of a hard life. Were talking some really bad stuff happened to him, and it seemed to happen time and time again. When we first met I would have never known, except we ended up becoming great friends. Whenever life handed him a shitty hand he would just throw a big stupid chipped tooth grin right back at the bad stuff. He made it work, and is probably the best example of perserverance I've ever encountered. Someday Never Comes
  9. Hey everyone. I just wanted to know if anyone on here jumps at Skydive Superior. I'll be up in the area this weekend and wanted to check out the DZ...anyone willing to show me around? Someday Never Comes

If you say throw me a beer and your buddy does and you drop it, you must drink it on the spot and continue wearing your beer soaked shirt for the remainder of the day. Someday Never Comes
  12. My Mom is a music nut so I got her some stuff she will hopefully like and hasn't heard of. Someday Never Comes
  13. Don't you mean Redneck card. I hear tell folks from Arkansas open their beers with their teeth. you mean tooth right? That pretty much applies to Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Louisiana. Minnesota/Wisconsin anyone?? Yeah we got some beer drinkers up 'der ya know?? And no shit you gotta use your teeth. How the fuck else are you gonna 2 fist?? Someday Never Comes
  14. Quote What you do in life has a lot to do with the CONFIDENCE level you have at different activities or pursuits. That's natural, and most humans will generally choose a "comfortable" path. That said, just remember this...people often make decisions in life for 2 reasons. 1,) Desire for gain. 2.) Fear of loss. The natural human instinct is to "protect what you have" which is the focus of those making decisions based on Fear Of Loss. ] Very poignant advice and spot on. I can only speak for myself but I still deal with issues related to fear and jumping. (The rest is directed at the OP) Lately my personal challenge has been the fear of losing my rig in freefall. Several times over the last 10-20 jumps I have popped out of a nice sitfly(Which is JUST starting to form) to "check" if my rig is still on. These are solo jumps btw.. I know it sounds strange but sometimes I can't feel it and I get overwhelmed by fear. Do I check my gear?? Yes, 3 times prior to a jump. Do I get it checked?? You bet your sweet ass I do. Still sometimes the fear is there. I hope that by sharing my personal experience I'm not further pushing you away from this awesome sport. I am merely trying to show you that you are not alone and that fear can manifest itself in MANY ways. How or whether you overcome it is really all that matters to you and your personal decisions on how you live YOUR life. Someday Never Comes
  15. I'm with you there...a DZ is only as good as its more experienced jumpers allow the lower experienced jumpers to be. I've had the benefit of being on a great many(obviously relatively speaking!! ) skydives with VERY talented flyers and I KNOW this has improved and sped my progression much better than just trying to learn on my own or by jumping with others of similar ablility/jump numbers. In order to be the best you have to learn from the best. THEN you can try and beat the best. Someday Never Comes
  16. I think women are people just the same as men and that(typically) the gender gap is what creates the most amount of confusion. Not something they do specifically but just the way that things are interpreted between the sexes. Its inevitable. We tend to see the world differently through different eyes and that is the biggest factor in shaping a person and how they will be/act. The key thing is to remember that you have no control over anyone but yourself. That is and always will be the bottom line. Once you have mastered yourself and know what it is you are all about, everything else will/should(just covering my ass!! ) fall into place. All that said...yeah there will be shitty people that will come into our lives. How you let them affect you, or whether you choose to let it affect you(or even be around them) is again...all up to the individual. Someday Never Comes
  17. Lots of us here skydive and while that is a fairly obvious statement how we got to that point seems to vary quite greatly. Some started jumping rounds 25+ years ago using the S/L method...some still learn through that method and have less than a year in the sport. Others went through AFF and had access to turbine aircraft and great weather year round. Still others have great windtunnel access and freefall skill but have a relatively low number of jumps due to living in an area with bad weather or just not being skydivers at all. And I'm sure there are other methods I don't realize are out there, or haven't considered. This purpose of this thread is for everyone to share how they learned to skydive and what worked for them. Also I'd like to hear opinions on what method or combination of methods would create the ultimate skydiver(natural talent not considered) I guess I'll go first. I did a tandem skydive near my hometown while on leave from the military. I really liked it, but didn't know how to get into the sport until I found out about the dz that I jump right now. I went through AFF and failed level 3 (90 degree turns) it was then that I discovered wind tunnels and I began to supplement my training with that tool in my pocket. I now have the ability to do basic freefly and RW skydives in what is a very low number of jumps. If I could do it all over again and try and create the ultimate skydiver I would recommend that they spend 10 minutes in a wind tunnel the day prior to ground school and an AFF course. I would have them spend an additional 5 minutes of time in the tunnel every other AFF level to work out various kinks that seem to be SO much more problematic to work out in the air!! Once AFF and an A license were achieved it would be a matter of jumping with others who were skilled enough and patient enough to take the new jumper under their wing and help 'save' that person jumps by correcting early mistakes and building good habits from the get go. What say you DZ.commers??? Someday Never Comes
  18. Does a contract marriage for extra pay in the military count?? Someday Never Comes
  19. Sour grapes??? Let me guess. You were married and no longer are... Someday Never Comes
  20. You know what they say about guys with a big nose, hands, or feet right?? They should be clowns! Someday Never Comes
  21. I agree. If your girl isn't the type to want expensive things, you'll probably pay a tax emotionally or in some other form. Someday Never Comes
  22. I'll take that as a compliment. SNAP!! That...just...happened More on topic. Being in the military(almost out!!) has given me an almost limitless tolerance for weird mushy, mystery meat type substances. They say hunger is the best spice... Someday Never Comes
  23. Were you there on Superbowl Sunday?? I didn't even realize thats what day it was, but ended up in the Bombshelter because the winds were ridiculous!! I remember walking out to the Otter and a huge gust of wind came out of nowhere and just stayed there. They shut us down for the day when it hung around. My personal limits are about 16-19MPH, only because I jump at Perris and have spent a LOT of time grounded as a student. Someday Never Comes
  24. Theres quite a few which I'm sure is a good thing. My first AFF which went smooth as silk panties. I(much) later found out that my instructors were the chief instructors at the DZ. Probably had something to do with it! My very first solo jump...longest skydive of my life!! The only thing I did was an(unintentional) front flip on exit, and then a 360 to check everything out. After that I just kept touching my PC handle...
  25. 0:3:1 case for my first 6 way. Not too bad of a weekend but I didn't get out on Saturday so...could have been better. Not complaining though! Someday Never Comes
