  1. Hi Kanye. How's Kim? You pay your money, you sign your release forms, you take your chances. I wondered when someone would comment about that
  2. Twardo, is The Liberty Team jumping in & will you be taking part in the 100 way ? In other words, will you & perhaps the Capt. Mom be at EAA this year. We are planning to make it down...would be good to see you, her & any part of Liberty Team again
  3. 10,000+ tandem packs, at least that many in student & sport rigs... a canopy w/ 70 jumps, my suggestion: run lines, set brakes, clear the cells, clover leaf the slider, clear grommets, pull up tail, gently set on floor, THROW A PIECE OF CARPET OVER IT !!! After a few minutes, when fabric deflates, gently roll into smallest cocoon you can while maintaining control, not upsetting lines. Should be more manageable to put into bag neatly. * use of knees & feet are beneficial * Maintain control of lines while running stows. (use a lobster claw type -light grip, don't milk) Keep stows even. * Closing loop thing...easier is NOT better, for jumper ! *Remember: whether they want to open or not... WHAT YOU PUT INTO A PACK< COMES OUT OF THE PACK....just saying ** edited to add: over 20,000 packs in 8 years, only 1 mal resulting in cutaway. It was my 1st weekend packing tandems. Had no clue what a step through was. My packing mentor & skydiving instructor, now husband, kept me up till 3 am. "teaching" me as many mals he could think of...he was the TI who had to chop it away
  4. Oh no ! This is so sad to hear ! Both my husband & I send our respects to a great guy & one of Brad's mentors ~
  5. I NEED a cup down before I am fully awake & functionable... during winter months I enjoy it with a touch of 'sugar free' flavored creamers (hazelnut, caramel macchiato). One morning I absent mindedly grabbed the parmesan cheese, not realizing it till I took my 1st sip I no longer keep them on the same shelf in the fridge * I also have filled the reservoir twice...more than once
  6. Damn. Worst story I'd heard was the pumpkin jump near Chicago that ended with the pumpkin punching a hole in someone's mobile home. At my DZ in IN, I heard a story of someone putting out an old military drop-test dummy, (~200#), which had a malfunction and went into a neighbors yard. They waited to see if anyone came out to check; No one did; So two guys scurried over and retrieved it. They reported it left a depression in the yard. I think I recall a mfgr in FL having a similar incident with a drop test dummy that impacted just outside the kitchen of one guys house, while his wife was standing at the kitchen counter.
  7. Nope...wasn't us. Our weights can't fall off! Sam is top-notch though...saw him safely land a messed up main at AirVenture a couple years ago...most would have chopped it but he put her down right where he was supposed to! Yep, I totally agree...Sam is top notch....skydiver & friend...he's just an all around great guy ! Watching him coming in parallel to the ground with that big grin on his face, can't help but laugh with him Love, love, love & miss that guy, wife Terri, brother Don (RIP)..all those peeps there, from Omro Daze (to include the L.P.T) !
  8. Not sure, though he bought it... Farmer was reimbursed for cost of cow & repairs to barn roof !
  9. Twardo, did Sam ever tell you about a demo jump years ago... he was flying a flag, the weight fell off, through a barn roof, killing a cow. ? Never thought to ask if that was on a Liberty Parachute Team / AirVenture Jump
  10. Thanks...everything is great shape with low miles & paid for. Finally reached that point in life where dependable and debt-less are more important than Bling. We travel so much that I'm driving a rental 2 or 3 times a month...new is nice, but there's just something about a broke in bucket seat that fits like an old pair of jeans! Yep, I totally understand & agree with: "finally reached that point in life where dependable and debt-less are more important than Bling " *Though I have to say, your broke in pair of jeans look good & fit you well... L'il Momma's too It took us nearly 3 years to get this place finished to "this will do", doing 90% of all work ourselves, paying as we went. We don't owe a dime on it, nor to anyone. Now its time to get some things we put on the back burner.... though our theory: if we can't pay for it at the time we want it, wait till we can or don't need it that bad !
  11. Very nice choices in 'wheels', Twardo.... You & L'il Momma done good DZ truck: my fav, but of course like BIGUN, I'm biased... ole blue: good to see someone take such good care of, & hang on to those aging, yet trustworthy & loyal... ragtop twice: Oh my... Moms buggy: my female idol !!!
  12. GD64~ No, spring can't come soon enough !!! Unfortunately we have long, long winters here in Northern WI....spring anywhere May to June-ish My 1st "baby" ('90 Sportster) has been with me since I got her Xmas Eve '96. It seems every year about now I really get the bug, so I go out to give her a cackle or 2, just to hold her & I over till its time to roll her out of the garage. She's going in for some cosmetic surgery (new paint) & some minor surgery (gaskets, rings). I could never retire, nor get rid of her. Besides being a gift & my 1st HD, my dad also died the night I got her. I plan to give it to my grandson when he's able & ready...he just turned 13. This one pictured will be my hubby's..his 1st HD, but no doubt I'll get on her one way or another. The dealership is keeping his safe & warm till we can ride it home. I prefer solo, or along side, but will be nice to ride with him from time to time. I just updated to a '08 1200, with only 1800 miles.
  13. newest addition to our growing HD family...
  14. Bad Andy and Punk. Hey, I know these guys...friends of ours, too Tell them both hello...no doubt you will see them before we will, since we moved up & over the other side of the state ! Also, an honorable mention to the "Tomahawk Tornado" ~BSBD~
  15. Some good friends renamed: "Johnny Longspot", "JazzHands", "Cutaway Joe" & "Too Low"...all good guys
  16. Great photo Twardo...you look good up there... You both do, but then again you both would look good anywhere Tell 'Capt. Mom', I said hello... Hope she can join you at AirVenture this year
  17. Lincoln? RE: "Lincoln?" Sorry [theplummeter], but don't know what you are asking ?
  18. Hubby is pro & multi rated skydiver with 4000 jumps give or take. Before, & during 1st year or 2 he became involved in skydiving, he was an A&P w/ IA as Line Crew Chief & Night Supervisor for a major airline. * translated: Airframe & Powerplant MX with Inspection Authorization-Lead Mechanic His background came in handy many times on DZs we've been affiliated with. There has been a time or 2, he's either been 'discreetly' asked by a Pilot to come take a looksie & has taken off his rig for a few minutes. There have also been times he's discreetly taken a pilot &/or the DZO aside. There have been a couple times he (we) decided it best not to jump........................ He has now gone back into his position in Aviation Mx & Inspections, full time at a FBO exclusively with private & corporate jets: King & Queen Airs, Citations & Socota TBM-700s (e.g. to include Senators, Nascar racers & personnel, Larry The Cable Guy) . Just can't beat the benefits, hours, wage, no weather holds, drama free environment . Skydiving is now mostly part time TI, AFFI, staying current with ratings, fun jumps & occasional demo jumps. He now only utilizes his aviation ratings, off dz

  20. That black 1952 Singer is a model 201-2. From the '30s to late late 50's it was the top of the line domestic Singer. The one everyone wanted, but not everyone could afford. Often called "the machinist's machine" because of the very high build quality, and the use of ball bearings where lesser machines used plain bearings. This was at a time when every household had to have a sewing machine, and it was used at least every week. They aren't hard to find now, because they made a lot of them. Most work just like new once they are cleaned up a little. This one runs beautifully ! My husband bought it for $175, from a co worker whose grandmother was going into the nursing home Evidently he didn't know its worth, but it worked out well for us.
  21. I learned to sew on my Mom's identical machine, though hers was a table top model. She made all of our (me & my 5 sisters) school clothes back in the day & continued using it frequently till she died in 2003. It was over 50 years old & still worked beautifully ! I wish I had hers, but after she died, it seemed to have vanished
  22. Oh my, very nice !!! Some people just don't get it. We have gotten some pretty odd looks & laughs from some non skydivers when they saw the machine I bought for my HUSBAND...initially for rigging...till they saw what he can do with it. He reciprocated by buying me a 1952 beauty, last month. I still have my Brother stand by, for fancy jobs... buy I really love these ol' work horse Singers
  23. Awww, don't tease us! Let's see the full car! Looks like a sexy beast! Here ya go. OH MY
  24. Dang Dude, very nice...love, love, love this car & so jealous Chevelle SS, without seeing tale lights, guessing '64 - '66 ? Back in the day I had a quite a few classics, then they were just considered used cars ! A couple of my favorites: 65' Impala SS, '65 Chevy II- Nova, '70 LeMans....but always wanted this
