  1. The main was in a cupboard so escaped the smoke :) Thanks
  2. My thoughts exactly, it's not as if i'll be jumping while my knee is screwed up!
  3. My next door neighbours (i live in a semi detached house) house just got completely destroyed in a fire today. While rushing to get out of my house that was filling with smoke that was coming through the floor boards I had to make a decision about what to grab (bearing in mind i was on crutches as i've fractured my knee cap). After deciding that my dog probably was more important than my rig and new laptop i left them behind. There was no fire damage to my house as the walls contained it very well, but the house filled to the brim with smoke (luckily not the horribe black stuff). Would/could the smoke have damaged the cypres? I'd taken the main out as it's not going to be used for a while so the container was open. I'm just wondering if the smoke could have damaged the sensors in the cypres? Obviously i'll be emailing airtec, but was just wondering in the mean time! Thanks
  4. If i wasn't off to Perris in 28 days I'd be tempted to get a cheap flight over with the Impact tracking suit I bought through your website! Luckily they have a balloon we can jump at Perris though
  5. Hey, I'm going to Perris in April so I've just bought a hard suitcase for my rig as apose to a soft holdall. It has a combination lock, and nowhere to put a padlock (ie TSA approved). Should I just leave it unlocked? I don't want it to be forced open, and I take it they won't put a call out for a passenger to find out the code? Thanks :)
  6. As stated by stitch you should be fine as long as your Doctor will sign the BPA medical declaration which is available from their website. Good luck!
  7. Ditto. Alcohol affects different people in different ways. Some people may be 'fine' after a drink but still within the legal limit (35mg of alcohol in 100mg of blood in the uk i think), however some people may be legal but certainly not ok to drive. If you drink get a fucking taxi or a lift from a sober friend, its not worth it.
  8. I do not disagree with you. Remember, I put rule number one out there in the beginning and at the end of my post. Cops anxious to meet quotas often haul INNOCENT people to jail by sitting up on bars late night, and arresting drivers without probable cause. I've tried these kind of cases. The CRIME is driving while INTOXICATED. "Drinking and driving" is NOT the test. Sorry wasn't directing that at you!
  9. If you drink and drive then your a fucking twat. Quite simple. Enough people get killed by drunk pricks who think that they're ok to drive. I reckon all drink drivers should get a life ban from driving and jail time. No excuses.
  10. Haha. Seriously, I dont want my beer shaken up before I open it. Anyway, you can't fit proper man sized British cans in there, just the kiddy sized yank ones.
  11. Being from the UK, i can't comment on SoCal, however: I agree, the word 'boogie' sounds stupid I mean come on, a 'whuffo' (Another stupid sounding word) would hear the word boogie and think we are all gay. On a serious note, a few people I've spoken too who have done FJC's / AFF with my uni club have all said the biggest thing that puts them off the sport is the attitude they see. Too many people love themselves and think that they are something special just because they jump out of planes. They need to get over themselves. I know what they mean too, I haven't been to that many DZ's, but for each one I can recall a few people who fucking love themselves and have a big attitude problem. I know you get attitude and people who love themselves in all areas of life, it just seems that there are a lot more in this sport?
  12. Thanks to the guys who've replied with some info for me. I think i'm going to have a go with the impact, mainly because a fairly well priced 2nd hand one has come up. I did like the phoenix fly suit when i tried it (but again don't really know much about these things and had nothing to compare it with), but at over £300 ($500ish?) i think its worth trying the impact, and then selling it if it's no good. I did also look at the matter tracer, but there seems to be a lot of negative info on here. I don't think id be allowed to jump one of them in the UK either, as it does look a lot more like a wingsuit (500 jump / 250 in 18 months requirement).
  13. Hi Im looking at getting a tracking suit. These 2 are pretty much the same price and have caught my eye. I tried the phoenix fly pants / jacket at the weekend and really liked it, but obviously have nothing to compare it too! Does anyone have experience with them both who may be ble to share some info with me? Any other suggestions apart from these two? There doesnt seem to be much on here about the impact. Thanks James
  14. Which helmet have you got? Have you got a www link for one? Thanks
  15. Did a couple in Perris at Easter, $75 a jump!
  16. Hi, Im having difficulty getting hold of the person I was going to ask to act as an escrow for me. I've agreed a sale with someone on the classified section of dz.com, but urgently need to arrange an escrow. Does anyone have any contact details (email would be ideal) for one of the riggers at Perris? Thanks James H
  17. Im guessing that the murder rate in proportion to population numbers in the US in a lot bigger than in the UK. We dont need guns. Its fucking stupid, if you give everyone the right to have a gun, more people will get killed. Its quite simple. I cant see us english (well most of us) ever agreeing on this matter with you guys. You've all been brought up with guns everywhere and dont know any different. At least the whole topic gives us a bit of transatlantic banter

Oh and while im on the topic, what is it with yanks and pick ups? We had quite a laugh, trying to spot a pick up that actually had something in the back! I dont think half of your cars would even fit on our roads!

You yanks should stop complaining. It costs me around $130 to fill up my '97 bmw 318i. You could always try getting a car with a reasonably sized engine? I mean the hire car we got in Perris was a 3.5v6. It was slower than my 318. What do you do with all the power? Not to mention the annoying automatics, no where had a manual to hire us. Lazy americans lol.
  20. Assuming that exit altitude is between 12-15k, the instructor isnt really giving the student much chance to get stable is he? Unless they where injured etc?
  21. I paid online, but made a mistake. I emailed them and got a reply within 24hrs. My card arrived within 2 weeks (to the UK). I thought that was pretty good. The BPA are very quick but at over £150, a bit pricey
  22. Why not, would make a good distraction from the assignment i should be doing james @ skydiveuwe . com
  23. http://www.skydiveperris.com/school.html Click on the AFF tab and you can watch videos of all the levels.
  24. Are you thinking of the Pam Am Flight 103 1988 Lockerbie bombing? This was linked to Libyan militants. The Air India attack carried out by Sikh militants was over the pacific, south of Ireland...
