  2. that would suck if you had a slider up linover with non-releasable toggles. not to say that the dudes who lost their hookknives maybe could have looked a little better, but what if they jumped the thing at night? just because someone else found a knife doesnt mean the person who lost it didnt look for it. what if they had pigs sniffing their tail after they jumped? i wouldnt jump to conclusions and say they are listening the least, because you have no idea who they are, otherwise you would have called them up and said, "hey bro, you lost your hookknife." right?
  3. never overlook the gnarly wingsuit flights that take place without much notice. Jeb seems to have a nice financial backing to be able to document all the shit he does. Yea, he is a sick jumper, but there are alot of other sick jumpers too.

xj is dangerous and only lives to get radical. jump with him at your own risk. i jump with him all the time, but i am radical as well. im kidding guys, hes cool.
  10. QuoteYou're right, I am probably a closet homosexual. I think my sexual relationship with my wife is medication enough to revert those feelings and a BASE jump once in a while keeps the testosterone up. Although with no jumping lately I can feel my wrists are starting to loosen up. i will worry when I start using words like 'fabulous' and 'smashing' or start discussing with my wife which tone of green is best for the bedroom curtains... Right on man...
  11. sick day UPH, we killed it.
  12. you obviously have an obsession with those movies, and finding out who else in this forum can sit through gone with the wind besides you. thats cool though, i really dont have the knowledge of those films to talk in depth. the waiting game on the wind makes the next jump that much sweeter.
  13. im so glad that you know those movies so well you can quote lines.
  14. first of all, you spelled his name wrong. second, it wasnt that funny.

    Thanks Jimmy Halliday

I think jimmy's point is pretty valid, actually.
  17. Actually I have to go work a 16 hour shift right now. It seems like you are the one constantly sitting at your computer scanning the BASE board for people you dont like.
  18. "I do think that we're headed toward greater commercialization, greater publcity, and greater exposure. I personally don't think this is a good thing, but I also don't think there is anything I can do to stop the rushing tide of our history. Can I push the direction a little, though? Can you? Can any of us, or all of us together? Or are we simply going to be swept away on a tide of sponsorship and television appearances? " What is so wrong with that? If this ever happened to the extent that you describe, wouldnt that mean that the acceptance of the sport has grown? And isnt that what we seem to want? I know I would be stoked on that for sure. You make it out to be a very bad thing. You may have even taught the next "Tony Hawk" of BASE, but you dont know it yet...
  19. you are a bad ass kite surfer. i heard you totally killed it at jaws the other day and stole one of lairds waves by swooping in on your nano.
  20. A more open stance is more efficient because you are covering more surface area with your body. even though you have gaps between your legs and between your arms and side, by presenting yourself more to the air you can develop a better flight.
  21. Slambo is my nickname, and im sure others on this forum use theirs as well. There are so many personalities and schools of thought in this sport. People will argue about how underground to keep the sport, or how much we should promote it in the mainstream. Look at sports like freestyle moto x and skateboarding. Riders in these sports were considered some of the outcasts of mainstream sports and even society. Over the years, though positive promotion and media, these are two of the most popular sports, with some of the most payouts. Now Im not saying BASE will ever come to that, but it sure would be cool to see it accepted more. These things take time. Personally, i think it would be rad to oneday be at the x games, staring at a giant crane waiting for BASE jumpers to begin falling off it. Its an awesome sport, no need to hide it completely, it just has to be introduced wisely. Last year we did a ski base event that turned out great. Despite the fact that someone alerted the forest rangers in advance to our plans (at a legal site), we were able to discuss with them what we were doing, and where we were jumping. We hiked with the rangers and showed them where we were going to be, and they were stoked on it. They came out and watched us the next day. We got a positively written article in Powder Magazine about the event. Just saying we can introduce BASE jumping pretty easily if we do it right. Kristian
  22. Is there any reaction to that from the general skiing world? What kind of reaction would you deem necessary from skiers? First of all, choosing the wrong pair of skis usually has nothing to do with it. Its not like a big 200 lb dude buying a fox 200 instead of a 310 for his first BASE jump and bouncing off the concrete. A skinnier ski, well he may sink a little more and get better face shots. Avalanche deaths happen to both experienced and non experienced backcountry skiers. Most skiers dont even know what an avalanche beacon is, they are just tourist weekend warriors. You cant compare the BASE community and the ski world at all. I did think your quote of "its so easy dogfood can do it" was hilarious though. Kind of like the Geico commercials, except more original.
  23. Yes, the A was on youtube. However, it is only shot from the top. How would anyone other than us jumpers know where that was? Yea, im sure a couple people could recognize it, but for the most part id say no. The aussies loved that clip, steve irwins manager was pumped to see it... just like i am pumped to see other jumpers' video footage. I am sure we will meet this spring in NY, ill be there for a few weeks at some point...
