  1. Damn, I have my monthly HOG meeting tonight, hope to make it home in time for the late one. I hear ya NWFlyer, I feel an ePassporte deposit is in my future... "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  2. Actually, that would have been centrifugal g's, (or 'force') centripetal g's or force draws objects together as a result of gravitational pull between the objects. What you experienced was centrifugal pull that causes objects to be drawn away from the center of the spin... I know this is a small thing but I have seen the word centripetal used incorrectly in several posts describing what should have been centrifugal Anyway, glad all of you made it down ok, and I would certainly be concerned about flying with him again. 3. Ok, there has to be a story here...GIVE IT UP "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley

  5. Oh, I do have a logbook and I do record each jump in it. I do know how to add a jump to it, but I did not notice the missing two jumps until the end of the day and I downloaded the jumps into the JumpTrack software. There is no way to insert a jump into the AltiTrack, but I did find out how to insert the jumps in JumpTrack. I did not start using the AltiTrack until jump 11 and I did not set the jump numbers before I started using it, so on the AltiTrack I had jump 1 recorded which was actually jump 11. I did find out how to insert the first 10 jumps into JumpTrack as well. I have all of them in my JumpTrack logbook and have set the starting jump number in my AltiTrack so now the two are in sync. The first tracking jump I did with a group, at the debreif, someone said, "I think were were in the track for at least 50 seconds." I was able to replay the jump on the AltiTrack and show everyone that it recorded my freefall as 69 seconds. Take away about 7 or 8 seconds of tracking away from the group and we figured we tracked for just over 60. Thought that was pretty cool to have that type of information as well. I have one cutaway, and the jump profile shown for that shows a cool peak where I chopped. Kind of cool gee whiz stuff... "I'm not lost. 6. You do have to know how to open the door. You should know how to buckle the seat belt. You 'might' need to know how to put gas in. You do have to know how to plug it in to the electicity outlet. You should know how to type. You should know where the on/off switch is. But then again, you do seem to be the most negative poster I have been reading here. "I'm not lost. 7. Great. Thanks for that, I will change that setting the next HnP I do. I wonder what value there is for not simply using that setting all of the time. I had one jump where I had to do a cutaway and I was able to see the increase in speed between the times I chopped and deployed the reserve. Maybe if I was using that setting, it might have logged it as a seperate jump. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  8. Ya know, I DO walk to the DZ and home again. It is 15 miles, uphill...both directions. I do like being able to chart my jumps in the Jump Track software though. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  9. I have 29 jumps on my AltiTrack and I love it, but it only recorded 27 of the jumps. I did two hop n pops as part of my AFF training. The first was from 5000 and the second was from 3500. Neither was recorded on my AltiTrack. Anyone else ever had that happen? Was there something I should have set on the AltiTrack to tell it I was going to do a hop n pop so it would have recorded it? 10. This is mine... "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  11. DST is stupid to begin with. Why even bother any more? We never adjust our time here and things seem to be just fine. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  12. Good point, maybe I should have said intensively stronger smell. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  13. Anyone have any idea? I mean, after eating it, I take a piss half an hour later and it stinks. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  14. ROFLOL "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  15. Or one wears a ProTec and one a Mindwarp and they headbutt. That would probably give you at least an idea of which one transfers the force to the wearer the least. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  16. I'm not sure what you mean about modes, I have a Solo and I set it to three altitudes. The alarm goes off at these altitudes regardless of if I am in freefall or under canopy. Edited to add that it is very thin and I have it mounted in a ProTec. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  17. Check out the video "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  18. Good idea! Should have thought of that myself. Jump tickets it is... "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  19. Ya know, I asked him what he wanted and he showed me the bottles he already had that he doesn't even drink. He said, "Pick your poison, I don't even drink the stuff." I know a bottle is the tradition, but do you know of anything else he might actually like? "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  20. At this stage of my skydiving carrer, I bring a case out each time. Everytime I turn around, I owe a case... "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  21. Wouldn't you expect that to be found and fixed on a normal equipment check? I know that when I get to that area of the rig, I am looking for a nice smiley face from the pin and I always feel it to make sure it is nice and smooth with nothing that would prevent it from sliding from the loop. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  22. Yes it was. First word I said on the ground was 'cool'. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  23. I did not try to stop the turn with the brake. Probably should have. When I saw the distortion on the leading edge of the canopy and the speed of the spinning, I figured this was a good time to get under something else. I was down to around 2500 when I chopped so I probably could have tried it a little more, but I remebered my training and 2500 was the decision altitude so I decided. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  24. Yeah, that's the one. This time it spun up really fast. I could not see any real problems with the lines, I did see some distortion on the leading edge. The thing was spinning really bad and I decided I needed to be under something a little more stable. I did one more jump on a different rig just to 'get back in the saddle' but then the wind and rain closed in. My rig should be arriving today so the next jump I do will be on my stuff. Can't wait. See you in a couple of weeks. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  25. Well, I started spinning once the main opened. I was in a flat spin. I made sure both brakes were un stowed and looked up to see if I could see anything wrong, broken lines, line over or something that would be making the thing turn. I did not see any broken lines or a line over. I did see the leading edge of the second cell on the right was not in line with the rest. The leading edge was not straight. This cell was further back from the rest. I did not see any knots, but after talking it over with instructors and others, there was probably a tension knot that was causing the turns. Like I said, after 6 or 7 spins I had decided this was not going to be a landable canopy. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
