Johnny Gates Memorial at Skydive City
briangilbertson replied to tkhayes's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hi TK, I'm sorry to hear about the loss at Z-hills but also glad to see that he died doing what he loved. Is there a picture of Johnny for those of us who didn't know his name if we saw him, but would recognize his face? Brian -
beginner jumper going to mexico, is it safe?
briangilbertson replied to Grape's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I would get that hop 'n pop out of the way at home. I tried to finish my A-license in Eloy and it was a pain in the ass & pocket book. Jumping in the cold isn't too bad, I would get your license that way. Are you jumping BOC or ripcord? If you stay domestic rather than hitting Mexico you should try Z-hills in Florida....they were awesome out there. =) Brian -

I wouldn't miss it for the world..... Please tell your groom that our 4-way with Janelle and Dixie was just a skydiving formation. -

I'm hoping to do 10+ jumps per day for a day or two. I'm sure the scenery will be a lot more beautiful than Eloy. =) -

I'm on my way to another trip that my accountant would probably advise against. If anyone would be interested in sharing any expenses please contact me. I also want to take a few days to try surfing if anyone wants to join in the fun, or at least some good laughs. Brian -
at least you didn't poison anyone with water

Ever cut away a perfectly good canopy.....
briangilbertson replied to TMPattersonJr's topic in The Bonfire
I think these guys are talking about cut-a-ways without a 3rd chute....just 'cause you have to get them re-packed to keep them current with the 120-days. It's seems a little risky, I'd talk to your instructor. PD will sometimes let you demo a reserve that you can pack as a main, that way you know how a reserve ride would feel despite the fact you're still throwing it out.....it'd be worth a try! -
for $1,400 she must have another blow in her...need more friends?

I'm sure if you talk to Omar there he'd be able to answer all your questions...He was part of the Great Stuff video with all the garbage jumps.

I've noticed a big change from previous years to the present. The current staff is excellent and totally professional....this dropzone has friendly owners, Flew-ID, and a great bunch of faithful regulars. Their AFF instruction is great and they also bring in Scott Miller for his canopy course. It's worth a visit.
