  1. Yes that is my question. Is the risk of a misfire greater than the risk of not using a cypress? I do not have an opinion because I do'nt know.
  2. Does anyone know what the risks are in using a cypress that is late on the 8 year service? Is it like using an out of date reserve? Is it better to not even turn the cypress on if your going to jump, or is having a cypress that is a few weeks late on its service better than using no cypress at all.
  3. Is it possible to do some of the jumps and not all? I have to work after the weekend, but the cessna ways sounds fun.
  4. Did you take those pictures of the double swoop? I was packing right next to the swoop pond when they did it. Very impressive.
  5. I will probbly be jumping with one of the organizers like Drew, Oren, or Boxman
  6. I should break a thousand this weekend if the winds are ok. Anyone want to join me for the jump and a beer?
  7. Mike has'nt been too Florida in a while. I wish he would come back here to stir things up a little. People here are beginning to forget how good his plane is. The dropzones could use a little price war too.
  8. I'm a psychiatry resident in the College of Medicine and would love to join. We had a really good club where I went to undergrad.
  9. That's all. Don't count on the insurance though.
  10. Stacy You live in a place that has the best diving in America. I go down there at least once a month to dive. You should really get back in the water. West Palm is close to the Gulf Stream so the variety of live is great. Good visability too.
  11. I have noticed that two fatalities recently have been with a sabre II. The accident in Georgia was presumably due to a low turn but there were no witnesses. It was said that winds were somewhat high that day. Also, a Z hills a fatality recently happened where a gust of wind caused line twist to a sabre II. The canopy is relately new and only time will tell but I am wondering if it is possible that the canopy does not handle turbulence as well as it's predecessor. This is not an attack on PD but only a question. Ed
  12. Sounds like interesting research, but you can already find alot of information related to dopamine, depression, substance abuse and risk taking behavior. I'm a psychiatry resident at a university close to several major dropzones and unfortunately see that skydiving has a disproportionate amount of participants with mental disorders. I would still like to see your results.l
  13. Sounds good. I hear the muff brothers are having a safety meeting sometime between 4-5 pm. Wait , they do that all the time.
  14. I think you have done a great service by bringing this topic up for discussion. It took alot of balls. I received quite a bit of citicism for a similar opinion I posted on Blinc after Erin's death.
  15. I like your idea of reporting on skydiving plane crashes. I was in a crash of a twin bo at Tennessee Skydiving Center in Tullahoma Tennessee 1997. I don't think you have that one on your website. It was a pretty serious crash resulting from poor maintenance. No fatalities but several injuries.
  16. After being in this sport for some time now, I believe that the skydiving community cannot regulate itself. As a survivor of one skydiving plane crash and witnessing four fatalities, I have seen how investigations have been done. Unfortunately, there is an element of irresponsibility in this sport. I have struggled with remaining in the sport since losing a good friend, but at least I am aware of the risks. Some of the newer jumpers, however, are not truly aware of what they are getting into and put there trust in those who will abuse it. We will continue to lose people needlessly until the FAA or other agency takes over.
