  1. Thanks guys. They talk a lot in the first link about using toogle input from the front/bigger canopy on the biplane and side-by-side configurations, but from what i've read around the forums people usually say to leave all the toggles stowed. Whats the deal?
  2. My friend just jumped there maybe a week ago. I plan on going tomorrow. So i guess theyre open haha.
  3. hey everybody. Im just wondering if theyre are any good threads out there discussing a 2-out situation. Ive used the search but have been unsuccessful in finding what im looking for. Ive talked to different people about the procedures but every once in a while sombody will say how they do just slight things different. Im basically just looking for some threads that discuss all of the possbile situations and the correct way to handle them. thanks.
  4. http://www.impactlab.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=7493 I just came across this. Thought it was interesting. edit: Just found the video that goes with this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=sXOgpZFXqTA
  5. he definetly has a camera guy with him because when hes walking sombody is following him with the camera you can see it shaking as he walks.
  6. i guess the only exception really are protecs because they are used for both. However Ive owned protects in the past theyre all right for the price, but they crack super easily so im not going to be buying another one any time soon.
  7. I was thinking somthing like this http://www.backcountry.com/store/GIR0038/Giro-Encore-Helmet.html Although it has soft sides, if the chin strap is secured properly the flaps really shouldnt move or fly up. I mean I really dont see them moving as long as its properly secured, but I dont really know has anybody out there ever jumped with a helmet like this? It won't be a helmet that I'll use for skydiving for years, maybe just 6 months or so until I have the money to buy a nicer one.
  8. Im looking for a helmet, but I also do a lot of snowboarding and I'm looking for a helmet that will work for both. Protects are cheap and break easily from what I've had in the past, and gaths just dont look like they provide the proctection from what I've read in other threads. What do think about the Evo freefly? It seems like a good choice that would work for both. What do you guys think? Thanks.
  9. Honestly, I wouldnt go plasma. Plasma TVs are very very expensive for a technology that won't last that long. I would either go with a DLP or an LCD. I have both in my house and they are both amazing tvs (Samsung 50in and 40in.) They both have amazing pictures in HD. In my personal opinion, I think the lcd looks a tad bit nicer, but not by much. The prices for these tvs are also dropping lately, so you can get a 40" Samsung LCD for about $1500 now. Talk to the people at th store and they can tell you everything you need to know to make the best decision.
  10. I waited in line for over 50 hours and i was 7th out of 150 people. Listed it on ebay 2 hours after i bought it. Should sell for about 3000.
  11. Well you wore out your welcome with random precision, rode on the steel breeze.
  12. haha oh really? was she fat? because that would have made it 10x better.
  13. Have any of you guys ever worked with treasure trooper? Its a website that pays you to do surveys and offers. Im just wondering because I mylelf have made $200 over the past two months and im curious to whether or not anybody else here is registered with them. If anybody is interested i could type up a guide on how to get started with them.
  14. this reminds me of a certain south park movie
  15. Correct me if im wrong, but the majority of skydiving fatalities are landings, etc. equipment failure isnt as common. so assuming that you will die from a double malfunction, you odds would be much greater probably less than 1 in 500,000.
  16. What is the wind restriction for students who don't yet have an A license? i have done a search but i cant find anything.
  17. today i completed my high and low solod jumps, both went good. graduated afp in 9 jumps, and now im onto my 6 coaching jumps. do you guys reccomend starting the coaching jumps right away, or would i be better off doing some more high solos first to just get more used to jumping alone?
  18. so do you guys reccomend buying all used gear as a first rig, or used gear and a new container? if i buy new container, will i eventually need to downsize it, or will the downsized canopies fit in the original container? when you say "down a size" how big is that? is 10 sq ft considered a "size"
  19. how many sizes could i downsize and still fit in the same container? Ill probably start off with a 150-170 canopy depending on what i can find used because my exit weight is about 165. so your saying if i buy a new container ill eventually have to get a new one to fit the smaller canopies? because if not the container is somthing ide prefer to buy new, customize it to fit my body and my needs. ya know?
  20. Im probably going to be buying a rig within the next couple months. Im on my last AFP jump, so its time to start thinking about what I want. For my first rig, I want to get somthing safe, but still affordable. Originally I wanted an Infinity. I did a lot of research on them and they seem like amazing containers. But after thinking about for a while, I decided it would be a better investment for me to get a vector, so that I can incorporate a skyhook. The skyhook is another thing i did a ton of research on, and after reading everything about it I decided its probably an excellent choice to use one. So I switched my container choice over from the infinity to the micron. do you guys think thats a wise decision? overall, It will cost about $400-$500 more for a micron over an infinity, (Infinity starts at $1400, Micron at $1800)and the majory reason Im interested in the micron is almost solely for the Skyhook. Safety is extremely important to me, and also the most important factor for me in buying a rig. So, my question is, do you guys think its worth it to spend the extra $500+ and get a vector over another rig because of the skyhook option? If the skyhook will make it that much safer, im willing to wait the extra time and spend the extra money on it. What would you guys do?
  21. I may look into buying one in the future. do they have a website? whats the best place to have one customized and buy it from? thanks.
  22. once again, i really didnt have a lot of time to inspect anything because i was really worried about the fact that i wasnt going to make it to the lz and i was over a forest. around 4000-3500ft i knew i had no chance of making it back, which really gives me the idea that whatever the problem with my canopy was, it was definetly more than just a simple end cell closure. i was moving super slow even with the toggles all the way up.
  23. everybody in the plane exited right near the airport. then, me and my instructor moved towards the door and prepared to jump. last safety check, all that crap. then the pilot told us to hold on because he had to make a turn because we were as far out as he could go, and literally as soon as he finished the turn we were out the door withing 5 seconds. the last afp student that jumped right after me also didnt make it to the lz. he also landed off coarse and on the wrong side of the runwayt. the respones im getting throughout this thread are similar to what my instuctor said after we landed and talked about it. "impossible" "unlikely". these responses are more or less frustrating me, because i am telling you exactly what happened. im not "making anything up" and im not stretching the truth. im telling you guys EXACTLY what happened because i want to figure out what the cause could be so next time im prepared. it would do me absolutly no good to make any of this up. edit: i forgot to mention that the slider WAS down properly, although it was making a hell of a lot of noise, which i dont know if thats normal because i dont ever remember that happening during tandem. i can tell you guys, what ever exactly happened was more than just a collapsed end cell. me and my instructor had one on my t2, so this time when it happened i already knew what it looked like. i cant exactly be sure what was wrong with my front lines, because i didnt have all the time in the world to firgure it out. i was more worried about the fact that i wasnt going to make it to the lz and all that was under me were woods and roads w/ power lines. could someone explain to me what it looks like when a line snaps, so that i can claify if thats what i saw on mine? edit 2: i also forgot to mention that the wind was blowing south, and i was dropped north-north-west of the lz, so i pretty much had the wind at my back, but also slightly to the side.
