  1. That was going to be my suggetion as well. I did a tandem there back in about '99. If memory serves me correctly, there was a kid on the plane younger than sixteen jumping. Also, I have heard from friends that jumped there recently that their facilities are extremely nice (as well as the people). --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  2. Congratulations! --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  3. I have a buddy that owns a few planes. He has agreed that if I can do it "legally" (as in he cant get in trouble with the FAA or anyone) he will allow me to jump from his plane. How do I go about doing that? --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  4. my 100th jump http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBkSmKosvMk --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  5. I finally got my own rig last week. Before that I was flying student gear(Manta 288 or Navigator 260 at best). I was not afraid of flying those canopies; it was simply not fun. Now that I've got my own rig with a smaller more responsive canopy(Spectre 210), I love flying my canopy (the nine or so jumps I've made on it). One one jump, I got out at 14K and threw out at 10K to really be able to play under my new canopy. It was amazing! I had enough time to try pretty much everything I could think of under canopy. I think I may do that a couple times a month from now on. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  6. I wanted to do an eight way tube for my 100th. We ended up doing a hool-a-hoop jump instead. However, we did attempt the eight way tube later that day. It's a lot of fun and pretty interesting, especially setting it up in the door. You definitely need a big door to attempt one Just an idea... --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  7. The new canopy is amazing. I have to get used to landing it in no wind. Its a pretty big difference from the Nav 260 or Manta 288 I ve been flying. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  8. Here is the video for my 100th jump. Just a simple hool-a-hoop jump. I originally wanted to launch an eight way tube out of the plane, but we didn't have enough people. However, we did attempt the eight way tube later in the day. Someone lost a grip right out of the door and it didnt work out. Thanks to Larry(editing), Red (backwards through the hoop), Leanne(face plant landing), Joe (hool-a-hoop), Rob (inside video), and JC (outside video). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBkSmKosvMk --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  9. I had to PLF for about my first thirty jumps. I definitely got better at it with practice. For the next twenty or so jumps I became very proficient at sliding them in on my butt. Come to think of it, I dont know why it took my so long to get the hang of landing. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  10. I have made jumps in the rain with nothing protecting my neck. Hurts like a bastard and I looked like a lobster. They still aren't "pointy" I am pretty sure it's just a common joke among skydivers....The only people I know that have believed it were non-jumpers. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  11. I say we jumped through ice opening weekend because the videos showed little bits of ice on the lens and my goggles had little bits of ice on them. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  12. Don't feel bad. One of my buddies has about one hundred jumps, and as long as the door is open, he's got a death grip on something. It doesnt matter where he is on the plane; he is holding on to a seat belt most times. He cant sit at the door because he refuses to open it and wont close it after the hop and pops exit. We like to mess with him about it. I still catch myself grasping a seat belt every now and again when someone else is opening the door. I decided I was going to leave from the camera step on a jump this past Sunday. That had me nervous the whole way up. I even told the group I was going to be lurking that I had changed my mind and I would just dive after them. They gave me so much grief that I ended up taking the camera step. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  13. Opening weekend when we (my dz) changed locations, we were jumping through ice. It was not the most pleasant experience, but it was a hell of a lot better than jumping in the rain. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  14. that is too funny!!!! --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  15. I made my 99th jump in a light rain Saturday afternoon. It sucked!!! We were all flying with our hands under our chins trying to protect our faces and necks. At least I was wearing my jumpsuit; some people jumped in shorts and a tshirt. We all had welts on whatever parts of body were exposed. I suppose it was from hitting the pointy end of the rain drops I dont think I will be doing that again.. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  16. sweet --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  17. I had a pin check at about 11K which I always do and we were jumping out of a Super Otter. We were linked and I was inside. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  18. My buddy I was doing the shredder with was gripping my right side. Also, my reserve deployment was not immediate after the shredder brokeup. The guy lurking had come from above and admitted pushing off from above but did not think he snagged anything. He is very experienced skydiver and a great guy. Since neither of us could figure out exactly what happened he was nice enough to split the repack cost with me. P.S. just got the call MY rig has arrived and should be ready by the weekend, which will also be when I make my 100th jump. I am going to ending having to bring massive amounts of beer! --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  19. A shredder (w/2 people) is basically a closed accordian and both people then go into a track with their legs and one free arm. This sends you spinning faster and faster until you cant hold on anymore. I was wearing a dolphin container. It's a rental. My rig should be in this week (finally). --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  20. First load Saturday morning a buddy of mine and I did a simple shredder. There was also someone lurking. The shredder went fine and it broke apart around eleven thousand. At ten thousand feet, all of a sudden, I felt like I got tackled. It threw me a little off balance and I saw lines and realized I had a parachute deploying. A split second later I look up to check for a good canopy and figure out what the hell happened. At this point I realize I am under reserve and my main is still on my back. My reserve handle was still where is was supposed to be, and I had a really long ride down to think about what had happened. I am still not positibve what happened, but the AAD didnt fire and I had a pin check on the ground and on the plane. I somehow knocked myself in the face on opening and left a swollen bruise on my cheek. Thankfully, someone looking for their freebag later that day found mine (rental). --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  21. I am glad I am not the only one who felt like this!! The plane ride up on AFF level five was by far the worst. I remember thinking so myself, "Do I really want to do this??" I knew I wouldn't back out, but if I had felt like that on the ground I am not sure I would've gotten on the plane. Then I look over at my buddy, who was also doing AFF 5, and he looked like he was going to throw up or cry. That was comforting. I still catch myself holding onto the plane sometimes when the door is open....fear of falling out I suppose. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  22. THAT WAS GOING TO BE MY ANSWER!!! Put my left shoe and put it down my shirt. It'd give me something to do for the rest of my life, and it would give the investigator something to do for the rest of his.... --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  23. Just get a credit card ang get yourself eyeball deep in debt. I know a few people that have gone that route. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  24. I am heading there Sunday for the first time. Three buddies and me are splitting two hours. We have also gotten a coach. I am really excited. I am really hoping to learn how to slide and work on my fall rate. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
  25. I never had to repeat any levels, but some I was pretty sure I had failed. One thing that helped me was doing more than one jump in a day. The second and third jump of the day always went much better than the first. --------------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/rave4funn
