  1. The idea of neverending universes if dwelled upon, can literally boggle the mind. Therefore, the concept has to be accepted by faith, even amongst atheists.
  2. I don't know how long yoy've been in this world, but theives are a dime a dozen, and totally opportunistic. You might want check your other stuff. Lock it up!
  3. As my Dad would put it," The U.N. couldn't whip its way out of a wet paper bag.
  4. Clinton became president for one main reason. It was a childhood dream, and he finally got to sit in the Big Boy's chair. He got to play President. He had no clue about the seriousness or sobriety that the job entailed, or if he did, he didn't care. Even today, when opportunity presents itself, he's pushing his way to the front to get into the limelight.
  5. So, we do have a believer amongst the secularists in the UK. Bravo!
  6. I remember in 9th grade earth science being introduced to the concept of universe after universe. I said to myself,"Somewhere out there it all has to stop. It can't just go on forever." The concept of neverending universes can blow the mind, so I just accept it as true. I'm not going to spend my life trying to disprove it, just because my finite mind can't grasp an infinite number of universes.
  7. Sir, are you telling me that because certain things in this world, which can't be accessed by the five senses, or be anylized by research, do not exist. Do you believe in the simple concept of Karma? Are you going to tell me that someone who commits a horrible crime, and gets away with it in the eyes of the law, Is not going to pay an unseen price in this life, or the next?
  8. I fist used the analogy about a key and a saftey deposit box. That was nitpicked. I used one about a roadtrip. It was misinterpreted, and had to be reexplained. Maybe the reason my anologies are too simple is because the way to eternal life is too simple. It seems that the intellectuals want all of the boxes checked yes, especially in something that they are skeptical about. On the other hand, when a certain end is desired, a whole lot of suppositions are overlooked as minor details, and not really worth bothering with, just to reach the goal. I go back to the example I've used a couple of times. Throwing timelines around like a few million years, here or there, is really nothing.
  9. Hollywood has been trying to defame the person of Christ for years. I don't need to go into details. You know the movies. It is amazing that noone wanted to financially back Mel Gibson on his depiction of the crucifiction of Christ, yet, when someone wants to depict him as a whoremonger, Hollywood's all over it. There's something wrong with that picture.
  10. The point that I'm trying to make here is[ and I really don't like to continue using tags] that the unbelievers want all of the questions answered before they ever take the first step. Thankfully, Thomas Edison didn't have that attitude when he decided to invent the light bulb. Also, in my life experience, the journey has been as much fun as getting to the destination. Are we there, yet, are we there , yet?
  11. I am not a biblical scholar, and do not have all of the answers. I could think of many anologies, probably most of them too simplistic,,but I'll give it a shot. Going on a road trip, a person cannot possibly know that there are no detours, potholes, rockslides, or breakdowns. If he were waiting for that to happen, he would be sitting forever in the driveway, hoping that the road was clear. Middleschoolish, I know. We'd like to tell the Muslims, but they want to cut our heads off.
  12. I'm trying to keep from becoming an alcoholic, so it's only two amber bock and a margarita.
  13. It is an anology. The person who handed you the key knew that the box was full of money, or whatever the treasure was. Concerning Christ, it is the gift of eternal life. It is free for the taking.
  14. I am going to use an analogy, which is my own. I used it with teenagers alot. I taught Sunday school for about 5yrs. Someone walks up to you on the street, and hands you a key. They tell you that it is a key to a saftey deposit box which contains a fortune. One of three things happens. You think the person is bsing you, and you refuse the key straight out. You take the key, put it in your pocket, go home, forget about it, the wife does the laundry, and the key is lost. Or, you take the key, go to the bank, open the box, and find out that it was true. Christ is offered to all of mankind. Those who take the key, and open the box, are the ones who are rewarded. The rest have to pay the penalty for rejecting the treasure, which is eternal separation from God and Christ.
  15. first off, let's discuss the word religious, religiously, in a religious manner. Getting up every morning at 6am whether you need to or not is religious. Being superstitious in any manner is religious. You know, don't walk under a ladder, don't let a black cat cross your path, etc. Religion, in itself, regardless of it's type, is man's effort to make himself acceptable in the eyes of God. Setting something else up as the end all, is also religion, i.e. science, self, epicurianism. As for my religious background, I was raised Roman Catholic. Talking the 60's. I couldn't have told you one minute after confirmation, what I had done, or what it was supposed to mean. Probably ADD. Sometime in the early 80's- typical hippie lifestyle- I picked up a Bible. I couldn't tell you where I got it. I was probably stoned. Who knows. The words spoke to my spirit, if you know what I mean. Truth is truth. I spent quite a bit of time in church studying the Bible. You go to the dz to learn about skydiving, and church to learn about the Bible. Some people spend their lives as dedicated teachers of the Bible. It's the same with any other philosophy or movment. The answer to the last two questions is wrapped up in the words " Truth is truth." Once it speaks to you, you know it. Are you open to any exploration? Read the Book of Proverbs, written by King Solomon. Considered to be the wisest man who ever lived. If you can't glean truth from there, I don't know what to say. Also, I'd rather believe in God on this side and be wrong, than not believe, and be wrong. Now that's hedging your bet!
  16. I don't really like hammering people with scripture, but I can. If everyone were to be forgiven, Jesus Christ wasted his sacrifice. You must believe that He died for the sins of the whole world, and you personally. If you were thrown overboard in a huge storm, and refused to grab a lifeline that was thrown to you because you didn't want any help from anyone, then you deserve your fate.
  17. Touche! Sorry, man. I looked at the post, and you were quoting someone else, so I didn't know it was directed at me. I'm new at this, so I don't know how to pull down more than one post at a time, so, I'll see you on the next one.
  18. What I'm saying is, one second after you walk through death's door is two seconds too late to enjoy your first spiritual experience.
  19. Are you trying to tell me that there is no proof that the nazis commited horrific experiments on any number of the people, not just the Jews, that were under their submission? If so, you truly have a set of blinders on.
  20. I'm sure you are right. Which brings us back to one of the main points of the discussion. If mankind had truth and love built into their being, we wouldn't need a set of rules that say; Thou shalt not lie, kill, or steal, etc.
  21. * The Bible is the word of god QuoteThat would be - The Bible is the word of God. I'm guessing, group B.
  22. Oh, ye of little faith. The first is in the spiritual realm, which does exist. The other two are in the physical realm. Let's just hope that your first spiritual experience won't be your last!
  23. And also that unknowingly releasing what turns out to be a harmful product onto the market does not reflect on the morality of the researchers who developed it or the effectiveness of the scientific method. ***I don't know what pharmecutical advertising is like there, but here, there seem to be some pretty hard warnings with the advertisments like, If you experience sudden bleeding from the eyeballs this drug may not be for you. Sound like a science experiment that wasn't carried to it's final conclusion.
  24. The problem there, appears to be, that one side of the aisle is in bed with them philisophically, and the other side, financally. What are you going to do?
  25. You've got to admit that if someone wasn't putting a thumb on the scientific community, things would run amuck quickly. There would be experiments that would equal or exceed those of the Nazis.
