  1. dude what jumpsuit do you wear...I need a large one back in the 70s i jumped a ballon suit.Every one wears tight suits now but at 280 in gear i need a slow my ass down fall rate jump suit lol
  2. check around dealer prices can vary by a lot look at skykat they have good prices on the pd reserves
  3. well im trading my 1999 raven IV for a pd -281 from all ive read on here its a better canopy and pd informed me that they tested the canopy way past 300 lbs and higher deployment speeds.Ids there an advantage in getting a white reserve i was thinking of getting it in blue.
  4. I too have just got back in to the sport and my javelin has nice b-12s
  5. I had 19 that was in 1978 and had a line over on a paracommander since i been back in the sport havent even seen a reserve,
  6. I think thats a good idea besides if you dont get it it'll just end up on ebay with a non skydiver making money from some one elses mistake.Jump it then sell it back to him when he can jump again.
  7. yes they are dacron lines and i have a new jumpsuit coming.its a super raven btw. Thanks Bill
  8. actually its listed as 300 lbs max and its 288 sq. feet .Actually im dieting hard now and hoping to get off 20lbs that will put me at 240 ibs in clothes but my gear weighs about 31 pounds.Do they test the reserves at higher weights than the max recommended
  9. Got a question on reserve size im about 291 right now out the door.I have a raven IV reserve that is listed as 300 pounds max wt.I've made about 6 jumps on a raven iv but never had a terminal opening, this was while i was a student. The tso c-23d all show 254 pounds max weight.I had no problem landing the canopy at this weight just wondering if im at risk of blowing up the reserve if i have to open it at terminal.Would a raven max or other canopy be safer I see smart has a 250 out they say max is at 300.lbs my raven is 288.Also main canopy is a falcon 300 in a javelin j-7 with cypress and rsl.thanks
  10. well both of them are really inexspensive insurance the cypress cost about 10.00 a month over its life.
  11. I'm a big jumper also ,if you look theres used rigs out there you may have to buy one and change a chute lol.I bought a javelin j-7 with b-12 snaps i weight 260 at 6 ft when i started back to jumping after leaving the sport in 1981 .I found a used javelin with a falcon 300 and a raven III reserve.I sold the raven III and bought a raven IV reserve added a used cypress and have about 2300.00 in my rig the main and container had 50 jumps.Good luck. I hope to down size in a few months and may have a pd 300 or a falcon 300 for sale as i've been dieting and exerciseing hard.
  12. Was wondering if a pd 300 will fit in a javelin j-7.I have a falcon 300 in it now and there is some room .Maybe one of you knows the answer to this one. Thanks
  13. it was like a hundered years ago lol.In june of 1979 0n jump # 26 was my second releative work attemped and my partner cooked by me at mach speed but he did grab an arm on the way past .This flipped me over a couple times I regained stability and waved off, tracked ,reached for my front mounted ripchord when lo and behold it was gone lol.I could feel it hitting the back of my helmet but i tried to get it twice then went to the front mount reserve.Thats a lot of fun watching everyhing right in your face lol.Once on the ground i ask my 1st jumpmaster what I should have done and he told me I should of followed the housing to the cable and that would have lead to the ripchord.Humm would have been nice to know that in advance.Anyway I stuck to the plan reach twice go reserve.I actually made 2 jumps the following week
  14. Thanks for the help guys.I'll try rolling the nose and see what happens I'm going to wear a soft neck brace just to be safe lol.
  15. I see where your coming from lol
  16. Bought it because the price was low i wont get hurt on it 190 jumps on it for 200.00 On e-bay lol.If it opens and flares well ill keep her if not ill sell her.
  17. Hey all was wondering who has jumped the pd series of canopys.I have a falcon now but have just bought a pd 300 hoping that I'll get better openings The falcon can be brutal.I change the rubber band on every jump and the openings are usually ok but still crisp.I broke my neck in dec and had my c-7 vertabra replaced with hipbone.I will be able to resume jumping in a month or so and was wondering how the pd will open and how the flare will be on the bottom end.If any one has had a neck injury and knows any tricks let me know thanks.
  18. ok I faced the same problem when I got back in to the sport 3 years ago.The option you all are forgetting is lose weight.I weight about 315 pounds and started back on an old halo rig.I immediatly started to diet and exercise and shed 62 pounds in 3 months.Than bought a javelin j-7 with a falcon 300 main and a raven IV reserve.I broke my neck in an auto accident in dec and wont be able to jump till end of june or july.I have to lose 20 lbs from the inactivity of the neck. This is my diet for losing 20-30 lbs per month I drink 2 herbalife shakes a day then I eat a lean cusine for dinner with all the snapple i want to drink. You can eat as many veggies during the day as you want just dont stick them in dressing lol.Make sure you are taking good vitamins. You will find its much easier getting in out of the plane and a lot easier to do rw.You will also have a ton of energy.if you get really hungry have a good supply of single serving microwave popcorn available. If you stick to the diet you will dump close to 30lb the first month. If you want to talk about it or need some help give me an email .Good luck and blue skiesQuote
  19. I'm a big jumper also why dont you buy a used main like a pd_300 or a falcon 300 and get some more jumps. You will have to buy a large container and reserve.I would recommend that you buy a good container and reserve new. Then you could get a used main for another 100 jumps or so.I just bought a pd _300 with 200 jumps for 210.00 on ebay.I've been jumping a falcon 300 that ive jumped at out the door weight of 310.It can give you a zippy ride.Make sure you get a big reserve strong makes some big ones as does Raven. If you want to talk with another big skydiver you can email me at anytime at [email protected]
  20. thanks for the info.Yes I'm interesteded I e-mailed you.
  21. Hey was wondering if anyone here ever jumped a briefcase container?I"M BUILDING A SECOND RIG AND HAVE THE CHANCE TO BUY one with extra freebags and cutaway handles single point.I think this company is out of business. Was also wondering of any noteable problems that this rig may have been prone to or service bulletins I need to be aware of.
  22. Thanks for all the advice gang.I'm gonna demo jump a pd -300 and also have a pocket sewn on my slider for my falcon and see which on opens the best.
  23. how hard is it to land for a novice.
  24. Hey gang,Well I'm setting here with a broken neck from an auto accident and will have to find a canopy that opens predictable and soft.I'm currently jumping a falcon 300 got about 30 jumps on it and weigh 252.The falcon opens hard occasionally no matter how careful it packed i pro pack it as these openings are better.let me know .Dan P.S Homer call me.
