  1. How often I jump (level of adrenaline in my blood) has a huge effect on my ability to sleep. I made 2 jumps last week and those were for currency, so my body's reverting to the state where I can go to bed at 630pm and get up for work 12 hours later. After a weekend of jumping, I don't bother to go to bed before 12a b/c I'll be staring at the ceiling after my hungry cat wakes me up 4am.
  2. The walmart near my apartment is $2.78/gal, about the same on base. Some places here in central Florida are charging $3/gal for the cheap stuff.

    Ill tandem?

I felt pretty ill after my first jump (tandem), mostly from the canopy ride (TM had a few line-twists to kick out, then did several spins). He was pretty lucky not to get puked on. My stomach was inside-out for a while, but my lunch stayed with me, and I was back the next week for AFF. I was amused yesterday talking to a friend who got ill on his first tandem, with a D-lic helping a friend get his rating.
  4. Just think about how many jumps a month an extra $1,000 will buy you, post AFF and with your own rig
  5. I finally took measurements and decided on a color-scheme for my new Wings rig (mostly R-blue with some D-grey and silver), then filled out the form and emailed it to Ankie . Now for the wait .
  6. That's it!! I've been trying to figure out how to take my cat skydiving. Rig her up to a tandem-drogue .

    Side slides

How do you do this intentionally, leading with your lower body in particular? Dipping my left knee and left elbow is my preferred method for left SS. Watching my AFF-3 vid, one instructor's holding on to me and the other looks like he's side-sliding in an arc, leading with his legs to stay in front of me. Leg awareness was my biggest weakness in AFF (got legs out signal a lot) so he may have just been doing big turns.
  8. Wouldn't a reverse repack open pretty harsh ? Not sure if that'd mean insta-canopy, wicked-long snivel while the thing turns itself from inside-out to rightside-out, or possibly a canopy under jumper malfuntion. Might have to chop that one .

    rig on ebay?

    Is he holding his pilot-chute?
  10. I have a Spectre-210 and Tempo-210 in my J4. It's a brick, but it fits!!
  11. Anybody skip over an A-license and go right for a B (as far as USPA's concerned)? I'm thinking about waiting to send USPA $20, until AFTER I meet the B-lic requirements. Pushing 30 jumps and still have several tasks for my A, but getting my card stamped is do-able in another 3 or 4 jumps. It just seems like I'd be sending them another $20 by the time I got my A-lic card for my B .
  12. "Grab grass . . ." , ROFLMAO!! I do feel pretty foolish about having starting that thread. Per my request, it's been deleted entirely. I suppose some things that are understood are better left undiscussed .
  13. I'm seeing someone 3 years younger than I, which I think is perfect. My ex-gf is 2 yrs older than I and one of the biggest issues we ran into is I don't want kids, at least not yet. A woman tends to desire motherhood more urgently at 30 than at 25.
  14. My cat, Shadow. The lady who used to live under me left her behind so she decided to move in with me. One of these days, I'll be rigging up a harness to take Shadow on a tandem skydive.
  15. I LOVE flying dreams. They used to scare the hell out of me. Since I started jumping, they're very pleasant, very welcome dreams. I used to wake up in terror right before hitting the ground, in a sweat with my heart racing. Now the freefall dreams are very pleasant, even tho I quickly realize the absence of a rig. Now about 1000 feet up, in a very Matrix-like fashion, my fall rate slows WAAAAY down, like airbrakes. I go to a stand 20-30 feet from the ground, and land softly on my feet, in my home DZ landing area. I look up to the sky and see my buddies do the same, all without rigs.
  16. Varies by time of month, but I like it. Almost enough to wish I had tastebuds on my penis .
  17. The 230 has a great many jumps on it. It's probably the least rented rig on the rack, more faded and ragged-out than the Falcon-265 I was jumping in AFF. The Navigator-240 I rented at a different DZ set me down just a little faster than the Falcon and a lot slower than the PD-230. My Spectre has about 100 jumps on it.
  18. Definitely!! I went and took Scott Miller's class 6 jumps post-AFF. I didn't get particularly care for the vibe out at DeLand, but I do plan to return for more Scott Miller instruction
  19. I'm curious about the Spectre-210's flight/landing characteristics and flare-power as compared to those of the old school PD-230 9-cell. My instructors recommended a 190 for me, but I decided on a 210 (WL = .9). After Scott Miller's class, I have lots of new stuff to play with and decided I wasn't in such a hurry to downsize. I'm debating how soon I should start jumping 210 (not renting=more jumps
  20. True, I do open pretty high. Then again my DZ runs loads either to 15k or 18k. That was an 18k load and tho 90 on the ground, my fingers were getting numb by the time I pulled after a good 75-80 sec of freefall
  21. Will do. I might seriously do a nude jump in the winter (if not sooner), but it'll be at my home DZ in Florida. Even in Florida, still be pretty chilly.
  22. I think I'll be traveling to Ohio this January for a naked jump .
  23. If you love to jump, it's hardly a waste. You should be able to finish AFF between now and November.
