  5. Being a real estate consultant here in Brazil, I was just curious. Properties and clients are, ofcourse, always welcome though. The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  6. Just wondering if there are any DZ.commers involved in real estate sales or investment in the U.S. or abroad. The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  7. Illegal in Hawaii too and some other places. NY you need a license. Reason: outdated beliefs that are generally unjustified. People are afraid they will be released into the wild where they will rapidly multiply and destroy local wildlife. Most ferrets can't survive more than a few days in the wild though. Some places/countries allow them as long as they are castrated and chipped. The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  8. I have 2, 1 male/1 female, and the male is the smellier. None smell that strong though. My house has mostly wood floors with very little carpet which helps. The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  9. Ferrets are officialy the 3rd most popular pet species in the U.S., even though they are banned in some states and require a license in others. Just wondering how many DZ.commers have one. 10. I love beer. I will try any beer wherever I am if I haven't tried it already. The US does make some excellent beers, both top and bottom fermented, but they are not the popular ones. The only thing good about Bud, IMO, is that less adventurous people know what they are drinking whatever country they are in. This goes for other big brands such as Heineken as well. 11. I think he was refering to the canopy model. The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  12. Had to google SVT to find out what you were talking about. Glad all is well. SVT = supraventricular tachycardia (accelerated heart beat due to medical condition) The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  13. I presume that the effect of the drag will depend on the canopy you are flying. A slow flying student canopy will probably react less than Luigi Cani's pilow case. Either way, I have no plans on attempting such a stunt. The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  14. Seeing BigBears post reminded me of 2 occasions where I have seen a cutaway being caught in mid-air by fellow jumpers. This was done by flying close enough to hook it on the guys foot and then having it trail behind until just before landing. I have had the opportunity to do this but decided against it, even though I was pretty certain I could have done it. Is this common practice when possible? Has anybody fucked up trying to do this? Just curious The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  15. I too believe that a local election of a local representative should remain local. In addition, I would not vote for somebody purely for their stance on 1 issue. Other factors have to be carefully evaluated. just my $.02 The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  16. I don't know if its because there are just about no CRW jumpers at my DZ, but I seem to be the only one who likes to do a H&P at 12K. Whenever I inform people that I'll be doing one, I get all kinds weird looks and comments. I find these jumps give me plenty of time to mess around and practice a bit of canopy control. Am I the only one that does this? The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.

  18. The helmet should make for some interesting drag levels and sit-fly positions. Dont let it rip your head off The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  19. A fellow skydiver here in Brazil is going to NYC in November. He wont have time to jump over there but plans on buying some equipment (goggles, alti, ditter, etc.) as its cheaper over there. Is there anywhere in downtown NY that sells skydiving gear, and if not, whats closest The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.

  22. My DZ here has the software too, but its Brazil's primary DZ. Other smaller ones often don't have computers. They just write your name on a piece of paper unless, ofcoarse, it's blatent you've never seen a parachute in your life. 23. ...ask to see the license of unknown individuals when they attempt to manifest. I was just reading a post in the S&T forum which made me wonder. I've been to a couple of DZs in Brazil where I bought my jump ticket, no questions asked. I imagine there are other DZs that do the same. (If you know of one, there is no need to give names) The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.
  24. I wore Vans until recently when I switched to Mizuno Wave Creation 7. The Mizuno's are more comfortable, lighter, a lot springier, and allow my feet to 'breath' unlike the Vans which tend to get my feet too hot. 25. Ofcourse I perform flight control checks. My main concern is what will happen if the canopy is turning due to collased end-cells while i'm trying to get twisted lines untwisted. Pulling the toggles will inflate the cells, and I've only had line twists once before (presumabely due to bad body position during opening), but I imagine the combination of collapsed end-cells with twists could easily lead to a reserve ride if the canopy turns in the wrong direction. How likely this is, I dont know. Edited to add: Before anybody says anything... I dont unstow brakes before clearing twists.
