i always was told the liberals and the conservatives held oppiste views back in the day from how they view stuff now...so wouldn't the liberals have wanted slavery to continue, and it was the conservatives that put an end to it?

in an all volunteer military, we are choosing to go overseas...you dont want to go to war, then dont sign up for the military. You make it sound as though somone held a gun to my head and said "sign the f'n documents and go to war" it's important to note too, that the USMC has been exceeding the recruiting goals from month to month, and actually expanding it's size.....man the Pres. must have a lot of weapons himself to force all of us to unwillingly fight his war

i'd also like to add that it's a real great boost in morale to see crates of new french weapons in iraq....thanks a lot to our "allies"

Here's the thing: Iraq's invasion of Kuwait had zero to do with the invasion. We were the ones that would not let the weapons inspectors do their job. We were the ones who took it upon ourselves to enforce no-fly zones that weren't authorized by the UN. i keep seeing replys about the UN not authorizing the US into the war or anything else...but nobody seems to care that the UN is by far one of the most corrupt agencies i can think of....many nations use the UN through bribes to get what they want....the french, germans, and russian leaders were given money to say they were against the invasion, even though the UN resolution in Iraq said that it was up to saddam to prove to the UN that he had no WMD's by such n such date, which he failed to do. I also think it's funny how people agree that saddam was a bad man, but want the US out of his former country and now are saying that what's happening in Darfur is horrible and the US and UN should do something about their country....I agree that mistakes were made in hadeling the iraq war, but being the monday morning quarterback is always easy. Give me a break. How long were we in japan and germany after WWII? how long were we in Korea...o yea, the US is still there. Everyone expects a 3 day war and then it's all over. Rebuilding a country takes time and money. Hell, the french only decided to enter the revolution after there was hope that we'd win, and even then they weren't around to help us rebuild....and their culture was similar to ours....it's a whole differnent ball game dealing with a culture that is vastly different from the "west's" and advances are being made through lessons learned from mistakes. If the US and other countries back out of iraq now, it will only lead to future problems.

i can, i get about 70-80 mpg...but i dont drive a car...i got a crotchrocket (noted mpg's are when you drive it nicely, not like a racer, as then i only get about 60)

didn't have the money to afford an hd lense right away, so transfered my old wide angle lense to the hd camera to shoot some video. now i'm just waiting on the hd lense to ship. so long story short, i was too poor to buy all the hd stuff at once

so, having bought a new hc 5 and jumped it a few times, i have had some problems with the zoom i use a liquid .3 lense, and having autofocus on (which i didn't use with my other cameras) i have had a few instances where it focus' wrong....and then i have set it on the ground (using spot focus) and had a few jumps where it was outta focus...just wondering what other jumpers do with the same/similiar setup as i plan on using this as my primary tandem/aff helmet for videos. pm or reply would be helpful.

didn't read too much on it, but from the pic it looks really small to record to hdmini dvd, which made me think it was just memory stick...although tech. is coming along, i dont think even this cam would be sufficient for skydiving....but that's just a newbie's note on hd cameras...interested on what dse says about it, being the camera god he is

how about saving some money and landing close to the tandem or aff just kidding...i normally either ride it a lil low or spiral under canopy to ensure enough time to take the cam outta my d-box to be able to zoom in case the tandem lands a bit away from me...then do some extra editing.

just going to add that i LOVE my new setup. no problems with riser slaps or anything like that, and also the weight wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be...after a couple jumps i didn't even notice it. Now i just have to mount my still setup on top and go for a few tests jumps with that.

i just got a hc-5 with a liquid .3 and dont have any problems with it...my only guess would be with how you zommed it, but i doubt that'd cause much of a problem

i jump the same camera, and love it. as said, you dont NEED wide angle lense, but they help. It depends on what you want to use the camera for as to what type of lense you want (i.e. a 0.3 vs a 0.5). Do a search, and you'll find tons of information on it. Good luck, and have fun filming!

yea, i have one of those lenses on order right now...waiting for it, but i'll use a stock wide angle i have (i konw it lowers video quality) but whatever...i'm keeping my old setup for a lil while until i get used to the weight (was jumping a 109 sidemounted...) and then i'll mount my stills, then i'll have my new camera helmet

So, after hearing others say they've sidemounted their high def camera's, i figured what the hell, i'll give it a try. I got my new ff3 today, and will jump it this weekend, and i'll let you all know (if anyone gives a shit) how it works out for me. I only know of a few people that jump them, and about a month ago when i asked for opinions, it seemed as though people only top mounted high def video....so after this weekend i'll throw my 2 cents in on side mounting them, as well as take some pics.

thanks for the info, do you have anyone i can contact from any of the dz's....when i moved from virginia to texas i was able to contact a dzo in texas prior to getting there, which helped me out a bit in gettin a job

So, i'm about to be moving for the 4th time in a year (love the military ) and i'm gonna be heading out to Camp Lejeune, NC....for the next 3-4 years....so i'm just looking for a DZ near there (i have heard raeford is really good)...even better would be a dz that needs a little help with videos or instructor stuff, as i hope to get my affi and/or tandem this summer and have been doing tandem vids for quite awhile. But yea, if anyone is in NC, let me know about the dropzones i have to choose from

sorry it's taken me awhile to reply. This wouldn't be my first wedding, but it is my first wedding that isn't someone related to me that i've taped. I have 2 different cams which would work good for getting angles, and i have 3 mics....i've practiced a lil bit in editing, was just wondering a ball park figure for an amature wedding videographer....and thanks to those that gave me their input I didn't even think of the mom's and the relatives and all that crap...haha DSE, that slideshow program sounds interesting, maybe a lil something i can throw into thier video....can you pm me some more information on it? so, having done video work for skydiving for about a year, one of my good friends asked me to video his wedding....nothing spetacular, but video work none the less. I have 2 cameras, one high def, the other normal video, so i can get 2 diff angles of everything and will proly spend hours editing...he said to name a price and he'd be good with it. I was wondering (DSE...i figure you might have some experience) how much i should charge for a semi-amature wedding video. They will have professional photographers, this is just something he thought would be cool. Being his friend i figured i'd give him a deal, but i literally have no idea what even an amature would get paid. any advice or msgs would be appreciated

one thing that pissed me off the most as a Marine was not that i had to work this good friday, but the fact that the f'ckin civilians that were teaching a class were getting paid extra by the f'ckin hour....so they dragged the class on as long as they could (8 f'n hours for a 2 hour course)....and the fact i had family drive for over 16 hours to visit me and i had to have them waste an entire day so these greedy sob's could get paid a little extra dough......i hope they bought some good shit, because i want to whoop each of their slimy asses if i see them on the streets

having done a few demo jumps myself, and being in the military, it's one thing i love about this country....the reactions you get from alll people. Yes, they may not like the country as it stands now, but you better be damned sure that they love their country. And having seen my fair share of demo jumps, i am always awed by the site. Nothing pleases me as a Marine than to see others honoring their country, as it's what i live for. Semper Fi

i did very little rw work after i got my liscense...mainly did freeflying. When i wanted to start camera, i realized i SUCKED at belly, and had to work a lot on that...once i got that down, i noticed my belly skills have improved greatly since flying camera. Maybe not turning points, but at least staying with formations, etc. I also realized that some exits i was able to freefly while working camera with tandems, so it helped me there as well. However, for the last 6 months i did very little ff jumps, mainly was a tandem whore, and when i tried freeflyin again i realized a lot of my "skills" were rusty to say the least. And that's my ramble
