  1. If this person has done a shit load of jumps in a short period of time then they'll probably be better than someone who has done the same number in a long period of time. Throw in natural talent and then its likely you'll have someone who is pretty good at what they do. Currency is important. What makes you think that their jumps were not quality jumps? Be honest, you just don't like this person right?
  2. I know, its just that there's a village 0.5 miles west of our DZ that we aren't allowed to fly over at either 1300 or 13000 feet. I don't know if its the sound of the aircraft or the thought of people falling above them that they have a problem with.
  3. Its possible that there are some strict noise abatement procedures that he needs to adhere to and so he cant go more than a certain distance in a certain direction, but then a cross wind jump run would seem more logical. I think youd have more luck if you asked your pilot about it instead of reading the speculation of strangers.
  4. I was on a load with Ben Bostrom (Superbikes) who was doing a tandem at Perris in January.
  5. Ha, im not that stupid. The graph shows an initial acceleration to about 150 as I exited head down. I transitioned slowly into a tracking position and the graph shows my speed decrease steadily until 5000 feet where it registered as 40mph. My ditter went off at 5000 so I stopped the track at this altitude and the graph shows an acceleration to about 110 at which point I deployed.
  6. Ive just got myself Jump track software so today I thought Id try tracking to see how slow I could get my vertical speed. The graph is a fairly smooth curve with the highs and lows in the places i'd expect from how the jump went. Heres the suspect part, at its lowest, the graph shows my speed at 40mph. Is it possible to fall that slowly in a track with just a freefly suit on?
  7. Im interested in seeing if my experiences with the company are the exception or the rule.
  8. He lived on the DZ at chatteris. Nowhere inparticular just in any caravan or room that was left open. Hed catch his own food most of the time but in winter we'd help him out. He was fairly wild I guess. It was always funny to see the punters reactions as he dragged a rat in from the airfield and started crunching on it infront of them. I think he had favourite people but they werent safe from attack. One microlight guy here spent 2 days recovering in hospital following an encounter with Bounce. He was fixed and I dont think there are plans to replace him. He was a little bastard but he'll be missed around the place.
  9. PD has an article on it here http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/packvol.pdf
  10. I think that in order to fly skydivers in the UK, you require 100 hours and a PPL, unless you hold a skydiving A licence in which case its (unbelievably) only 75 hours. I think youd be very lucky to find anyone who would hire you with such low experience though. In my opinion they've got it right in America. I don't know if its the decision of the DZOs there or the insurance companies but 500 hours is a much better number.
  11. I have an Odyssey in black white and grey that i'll be looking to sell in february. It has a spectre 150 in it at the moment but it had a silhouette 170 in to begin with which I still have. (matching colours: blk-blk-sil-wht-wht-wht-sil-blk-blk). Im 5'11 and 170lb and its just a tad long on me but not too bad. the harness size is C20 which javelin says is for jumpers who are 6'3. Most of the manufacturers websites have sizing charts but maybe it would be a good idea to try on some rigs around your DZ to see which harness size feels best on you.
  12. Youre advertising harley davidson in your profile, might want to edit that out mate.
  13. Im not sure if youre serious, but if you are, think about the fact that every canopy opens in/above the burble of its wearer.
  14. He has his points of interest, that much is obvious however, I dont think his explanations explain his arguement fully. He obviously likes to debate on this forum and seems willing to ignore the facts in order to do so. What I find to be a little "eccentric" about all of this though, is that its the same thread every time...with many of the same posters argueing with him. Dont get me wrong, I find it amusing not annoying. I guess my post was taken in a bad tone because of the context. I should have just kept my keyboard untyped on. Sorry.
  15. That was not meant in an offensive way. I guess I should have added an after "loon"
  16. Mate, you're a total loon. Whats with this obsession of yours? There has to be more to it than meets the eye because your arguement just doesnt make sense. You have some form of OCD right?
  17. Im just wondering if its open tommorow (monday). Im thinking about heading over there as it looks like the weathers going to make it the last opportunity to jump for a few days. Not that I expect them to be firing it up on a winter monday, but out of interest do they have their Nomad yet?
  18. Shit man, it must suck to be you. For me, its things like waiting in a queue, watching shit tv and driving long distances that are boring. Sometimes spending all day flying a plane can get pretty boring but I cant imagine getting bored doing 30 seconds worth of bungee jumping.
  19. Its not something I would arrange to do but if a bunch of people were going and asked me along, and I couldnt think of a good enough excuse not to go, then Id go to. I was meant to do it one time when I was working in Vegas..our DZ had a deal with AJ Hackett at Circus circus, so all staff could jump free. Anyway, I waited around so they could try to squeeze me in at the end of the day but people just kept coming in and in the end they shut before I could jump. I swam in their pool for a while then went home dissapointed and also a bit relieved.
  20. I do believe that the American pronunciation is infact the correct one...its England and other places that have added the I to the original word. Anyway, Ive heard some people call Tytaynyum, Titaynyum.
