I would like to practice in Pennsylvania if I pass the exam. Most people in PA take the PA and NJ exams because New Jersey is so close. I choose “save the world”.

I need to pay for my skydiving gear. I also like helping people. My friends use to say I argue so much I should become a lawyer.

I wish I was joking about the bar exam. The last three days were pure hell. That's correct, PA and NJ.

The truth is that baby lawyers are worthless. Utterly. They've been to law school, but in terms of real world practice, a paralegal with five years of experience is more valuable. ---------------------------------------------------- Hey now, I just took bar exams in two states. My last one finished 4 hours ago. Note: I state this as a joke. I am ROTFL

But really tho...this place is amazing.....I never wanna leave....I got my A within the first 3 jumps and since then I've done 12 total in 2 days....15 mins of tunnel time earlier tonight...balloon jump tommorrow..finally got a jump out of a skyvan...awesome.... ----------------------------------------------------- That's excellent.

The goggles they use for AFF students with glasses might bend your frames. Your instructors will need to manipulate the goggles to make sure that they are on correctly. They have to be on correctly so that they are safe to skydive. I have small frames and my glasses were still bent (not broken) at three dropzones. I would wear my extra pair of glasses for AFF lessons. Maybe this will not happen in your case. A suggestion is to get a cheap pair of glasses to wear while going through AFF. You should still get the nice glasses you need but wear your cheap ones while jumping. After you finish your course you can look at other options for jumping with glasses.

Heal fast. I got whiplash on jump 11 on a hard opening. I could not wait to go back up.

If you check your stuff in be careful with connecting flights. I fly BA a lot and sometimes your checked luggage will not make a connecting flight. That could force you to rent equipment if you plan to skydive the day you arrive. BA is pretty good about delivering your stuff directly to you by the end of the day. It used you be a joke when every time I would arrive in Paris in the morning my luggage would be delivered to my friend’s apartment in the evening because it missed the Heathrow connection. Air France is worse. A few months ago I flew from JFK to Nice through Charles de Gaulle. My checked in luggage missed the connecting flight in Paris in the morning. There are loads of flights between Paris and Nice every day. For some reason I did not get my luggage until late in the afternoon on the next day. Fortunately, I checked in my clothes and carried on my SCUBA gear.

After AFF 4 I told my instructors that I was not an “Are you ready to skydive?” “Hell Ya!!!” kind of person. That’s just me though. I preferred a calm, “Are you ready?” After answering yes they would say, “Let’s go” and we would give the ‘good luck/have a good skydive’ shake. Now, I am usually first out. At the two minute warning I do my final “check of threes” gear check and have my gear checked from behind. I will check the spot with the coach and give a count for the coach. If I am jumping on my own I do my pre-skydive gear checks and have my gear checked by the guy behind me. After the spot has been confirmed by an experienced jumper I look below, set up, and go. That is my experience.

I have a Galaxy Extreme altimeter. Does anyone else have trouble turning the dial? If so, what have you done about it? I went to Square 3 today and we had trouble turning the dial on the display model too. Square 3 thinks it is difficult to turn the dial to zero because it is waterproof. If that is the way it is I will have to deal with it. I am just trying to find out if anyone found a solution to this. Thanks

I am a student pilot working on my Private Pilot’s License. Most flight schools offer discovery flights. For like $50 you they will take you up on a flight to see if this is for you. It will cost about $5000 for your Private Pilot’s License but you can pay as you go. A flight lesson is cheaper than an AFF lesson. Pilots have Emergency Procedures (EPs) just like skydivers. The EPs a pilot must do are more complex than in skydiving. I have been taught each aircraft is different and my flight instructor tells me I should not fly an aircraft unless I know that aircraft’s Pilot’s Operating Handbook (POH) or Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) which should be in the plane. This document will tell you how to deal with an emergency and other important information. Like in skydiving your perceived emergency could be a minor malfunction or pilot error (you forgot to switch fuel tanks and other correctable issues). I advise taking a discovery flight. You might find flying an airplane just as fun as skydiving. I do. If you have your private pilot’s license you can carry passengers but not for hire. After you get your license perhaps the pilot of your jump plane can let you take the controls for a little while under his supervision if the right seat has not been removed. I am not sure if this is allowed if there are paying skydivers on board. You can also ask to read that plane’s POH or AFM. If there was an emergency you will be a lot more effective. At one dropzone I jump at the pilots let me preflight the plane with them, go over their EPs with me, point out reference points while in flight that are important to a pilot. They also discuss issues particular to that plane. Pilots like to talk about flying like skydivers like to talk about jumping

Aerodyne says my rig will be ready by the end of January or the beginning of February. When I get my main canopy I am shipping it immediately to Spain for the 24 white stars. Mr. Hewitt says it will take one to two weeks to design the canopy once it arrives in Spain. It is tough waiting. I am sure it will be worth the wait. When I am ready to downsize I now know to order months in advance. I am definitely going to post pictures, video, etc.

I wear glasses. When I was going through AFF I used the plastic goggles that are designed to fit over glasses. To make sure my goggles were on right instructors would have to press, tug and pull the goggles causing my glasses to bend. Because of this I started wearing my old extra pair of glasses when I took a lesson. I do not mind if these glasses are bent a little. I have a helmet now that fits over my glasses. I was all set to order the Oxygn A3 because I heard you can wear glasses with it. I read on dropzone.com an experienced skydiver telling a newbie to try on a helmet before buying it. One day I was waiting to jump at Crosskeys in New Jersey and I walked over to the Square 3 store and tried on different helmets. I was surprised that only the FreeZr fit over my glasses. If you decide to jump with a helmet after your student training is between you and your instructors. This is just my experience.

I am a student pilot. Definitely check out www.beapilot.com for information on flight schools. You can get a free six month subscription to the American Owners and Pilots Association’s (AOPA) magazine “Flight Training”. They are at www.aopa.org There are some good articles in the magazine on the maneuvers you will be taught. You can pay as you go so you do not have to pay a lot of money right up front. Can students come? I am cleared for solo jumps at Crosskeys but I want to do some coached jumps to work on my A license proficiency card. If so, count me in. Today I was the first out the door in a King Air and it was just me, myself and I. I planned my own dive and dived my plan. I tracked and did 180s repeatedly. I decided to do this on my own and with the advice of an instructor jumping with another student. This is because I think tracking is cool (and most importantly a valuable skill) and because I want to be able to nail my turns for my A license check dive. I am going to start working on Categories G and H of the Integrated Student Program in the SIM. Your instructors will introduce to this after you get done AFF. Good luck!

I do not know where you live or your jurisdiction. However, if someone put something into your drink without your consent then you should go to a police station near the location of the incident. Please do not worry what the police will think. They should do their job. Even when you think there is no way they can catch this person there is a possibility. If they are alerted to this behavior at this location or to someone in particular they can do something about it. If this person believes they got away with it this time they will keep on doing it and they could cause serious injury to someone. Whatever you decide I am sorry you were a victim to this.
