  1. Hey - it looks like you're in good company... seems like we've all been there. It's easy to see all these cool ppl at the DZ talking about their jumps and you getting a bit disheartened coz you had a bad jump... You've been sticking with it - which is a good thing, but relax (sorry to mention it again...) When i did AFF - i got stuck on L5 too. Couldnt sort out my turns... i ended up doing 6 repeat jumps. Eventually sorted it out - it's just one of those things - some ppl get it first time - some don't... I was told that when i turned involuntarily - i started to twist my spine to go against it. It seemed the way i was twisting was turning me more and more in that direction. I just wanted to get in a tunnel - but there wasnt one there, so that might be something for you. I think i could handle the jumping out the aircraft bit and the landing... just the bit in the middle was pants... Don't sweat it - in a few short jumps (like 6-12) you'll have got it sorted and wonder what all the fuss was about. Just enjoy every jump - even if you are scating all over the sky. As BillVon says - listen to the JM - he's the boss - but take something from here though - you're not alone and it just gets better and better Phil --- If you have to ask, you don't understand
  2. Aw - you say the nicest things.... Just look for the ppl who think it's still actuallly summer.. we'll be in shorts and T's, all the locals will be in coats and hats heheheheh. Oh and BIG f***k off grins too, coz we'll be jumping ! Phil --- If you have to ask, you don't understand
  3. Why didnt you mention this at the weekend??? I'm sure i could have found SOMEONE to jump with.... mind you... considerations: - 45 seconds isnt long - You'd need a bit of... erm...pre-coital preparation time before...exit Which would be difficult on a LET load of 17... - Imagine all the camera jumpers on that load - Cold, cold, oh and the cold (if you know what i mean) - And the likelyhood of loss of alti awareness... Phil --- If you have to ask, you don't understand

  6. 6 months in the UK: Are those dates also recognised abroad - specifically France and the US? I heard that they only recognise the first 4 months from the start of the UK repack date. --- If you have to ask, you don't understand

  9. I think the fact that i found skydiving this year is good enuff... but i know it will get better... Particularly remember: Spinning wildly outta control on AFF L5 and L6 First (deliberate) unstable exit - pushed out by JM and getting stable! ( i didint want to do it coz i was afraid of spinning out of control a la my AFF L5) First (and only) downwind landing on the runway - OUCH! taught me to include finals into the WHOLE skydive First low lob @ 3000 ft - when I was dumping above that height anyway. Went unstable and kicked the lines off my legs Second low lob - Back in the saddle to exorcise the demons of the prevoius jump Saturday night DZ life, ditto the ppl and laffs! --- If you have to ask, you don't understand
  10. I have been asked to post this by a technophobic, experienced freeflyer so that he can jump safely with a tube (which he hasnt jumped before) He jumps an Icarus FX99. Would anyone suggest a larger, docile canopy against smaller performance canopies when jumping tubes? Track off height? Deployment method - eg arm / hand positions... The hoop is 75cm across and he is planning on it being about 18 feet long... Please post all / other relevant information to enhance safety and enjoyment on the jump. Phil --- If you have to ask, you don't understand
  11. I did a 'charrideee' static line in 1990 - but there was not infomation or encouragement to take up the sport... Then in March of this year, i was skiing and after a particularly excellent day, got chatting with this bird (sorry Sarah) And she said "I'm a skydiver" and i thought "oooooh, that sounds interesting - send me sum info" Booked on an AFF in Spain in July this year, and like Mr 3FlieR, have been to the DZ every weekend since... whooooooooooohooooooooo!! --- If you have to ask, you don't understand

  21. yeah, i'm shite too I did a 3 way @ tihe weekend and we dirt-dived something like 12 points, and said if that goes ok, we'll start over (i think that's how you yankie doodle dandies say it). Then we exited the aricraft and (i think i backslid all over the sky) eventually got 2 point, before a track and my final nominated landing. I only have 60-odd jumps, but had a great track, jumped with guys i never met before, who will jump with me again and had a great landing. There's always something to take from a skydive. I too am guilty of expecting too much from a jump, enjoy every one... --- If you have to ask, you don't understand
  22. Hmmmmmmmm..... i think that's kinda what i was getting at --- If you have to ask, you don't understand
  23. Well, i was hoping to get the story from the horses mouth too... you should have seen DZ control - the stop watches were out and everything... --- If you have to ask, you don't understand
  24. I know it sounds wrong - but hear me out... I was thinking on my way to work this AM... (i know i shouldnt, but at least it was skydiving related, not work related) Ages ago... I had one of my consols. video'd and i was dead stable, falling down the tube... Since then i have a jump suit with booties and i always seem not to get enough forward movement... My theory is that because the booties (which may be a little loose) create more drag, i let my knees bend too much and they end up behind my arse. This means i will need to compensate MORE with booties by straightening my legs, than without. I think i'm letting the air push my legs behind me and even when i feel that i am pushing my legs out, it's still not enough... Thoughts? --- If you have to ask, you don't understand
  25. well u kept THAT quiet... where was the 'invite'? I would have had a Tango with ya --- If you have to ask, you don't understand
