  1. Ed: Extremely well represented and VERY professionally done! When it comes to skydiving this really puts wingsuits on top. My big brother DROVE an F-16 and now a 737; he drives...we fly! I love showing this stuff to family and friends! However.....the next media commentator or wuffo thats calls any of us a "flying squirrel"...........
  2. Looks like good times! Miss you guys Its pouring down rain in Phoenix & Eloy! Can't even ride the new Buell that Santa brought! Kids arrive tommorrow via Southwest though; Taking the kids out to Eloy for the New Years Eve and me and Anne's traditional New Years Eve Wingsuit flight out of the DC-3.
  3. OMFG....what a video! Great job! I gotta figure out how to burn it onto DVD to play at the Bent Prop! 2009 goal - Learning to Backfly!
  4. Wow: Lots of ink shed on this one. Around three years ago I had Sandy Reid of R/I completely open up the bottom corners of my Talon FS and I went to a 9 FT bridle. I did this after reading about this modification in Scott Campos's book; Wingsuits in Motion. At the time we just completely opened up the bottom corners....not much discussions like now about how much. Packed lines up for hundreds of wingsuit jumps in this configuration. Jumped this set up belly fly too. No opening or sequencing issues at all. With the bottom corners completely opened up I have to stuff the bottom flap fabric underneath the left and right side flaps as I close up the container....kind of a nuisance but I got used to it. Had this done to my second Talon FS. Both rigs have Spectre 170's packed lines up with 9FT bridles and 33" pilot chutes. One rig is on a Blade and the other on a SM1. No opening issues on either set up. Wife jumps a Standard Javelin set up, lines packed down, with no container modification, standard length bridle and 27" pilot chute hooked up to a Tony Intro. No opening issues with this set up. ....Just our observations and experience. Happy Holidays to All and to All a Good Flight !
  5. Fat Head dot com has a feature that you can send in a photo and have it scaled into one of those adhesive stick ups......stick on the fuselage like one of those pin up girls painted on the WWII B-17 Bombers.
  6. Spot? You are the wizard of electronic media and Captain Video of Wingsuits! ......think you can photoshop this?
  7. I think the 172 needs a Kung-Fu Panda paint job! Congrats! Scotty!
  8. Wingsuits don't kill people; people kill people....
  9. I may be arriving early tomorrow afternoon; crashing in the truck at the DZ for business in LA Tuesday and Wedneday. Anybody need a packer for the afternoon?
  10. My wife got a Tony Intro as her first suit and loves it. It cost $600 and she gets a $400 trade in credit when she is ready for something bigger which she probably won't ever need. She got a new suit that was made to her measurements and colors; not trying to fit into a used wingsuit made for somebody else. The polycotton body and parapac wings are very durable against abrasion and wear; washes well too. Older wingsuits in Balloon Zero P snag and puncture easy on aircraft seats or a rough landing. The suit comes on and off her r rig fast so she can go belly or freefly and then come back to wingsuits. With only 10 wingsuit jumps she is flying her Tony Intro in upper 50's for vertical descent speed and rapidly approaching the 2 minute mark from 13,500. I have seen this suit back flown and aerobatic flown before. I have seen this suit fly well in flocks but not the flocks that get real big, slow, and floaty. If you ever need any kind of repair or modification you can UPS it to Tony Suits in Florida and get fast customer response. The Z-Flock and Flock University Crew have a whole bunch of Intro's you can try and go fly. Look them up!
  11. I just use a few of those small key chain carabiners you get a Lowe's or Home Depot. I tie the bungee with a good bowline not; works good.
  12. I am only going to hang out with Scotty Go Fast......he knows where to go find a "Smashing" Good Time at the Elsinore bars. The Birds will be back to rumble....then off to the Hookah Bar
  13. or; we might make a detour with Justin over to Vegas before heading down to Eloy. Yeah, I would not mind doing that either
  14. My plans are to drive from Phoenix to Elsinore on Thursday Nov 6 and drive back home Thursday the 13th to Phoenix for the upcoming Eloy event. I'v got three empty seats and a cargo rack on my Explorer; going back and forth. Anne and I have an extra bedroom and an inflatable bed that someone can crash on. This might help someone who is going to fly into Elsinore ( Ontario Airport is your closest bet, LAX sucks) but maybe fly out of Phoenix to get back home. Anyway, Anne and I just wanted to make the offer. Blues; John
  15. Nice Pic! Hey...does anybody in the flock know how things shook out in the USA Today photo contest with Scotty's wingsuit picture?
  16. Any way this might appear again on History Channel? Any way to buy an episode copy? I was on the DZ on Friday night, no cable, no satellite.
  17. Good Job, Debbie The Tony Intro's are a great first suit; my wife Anne made 5 flights this weekend on her new Intro and really enjoys the suit. So you can fly with Anne and I sometime soon we hope in Arizona, Utah, or elsewhere. Welcome!
  18. OMG....what a rant Let me go to my medicine cabinet and see if I can help........let see; we have adderall, and adderall XR, concerta, straterra, lexipro, paxil, zoloft, lamictal, risperdol.....and my favorite wellbutrin; the antidepressent/anti anxiety without the sexual side effects. Send a PM with your ship to address, I'll send some pills. Pop the pills, with a whiskey chaser, go rub one out and you will feel much better and less cranky! Hope your leg is healing well
  19. Interesting..... Such an excellent self distraction from work; time for a "study break"... Looked at my Altimater Neptune 2 box; says version 2.6.1 on the box label. I have not downloaded any of the latest maintenance utilities; TOO LAZY to hook up the computer IR port. No Paralog either; I just copy the data into my logbook at the end of the day. I did notice a few weeks ago a "broke" jump; but did not think anything of it until DSE's comments to your post. I fly a Blade and SM1 so I will keep an eye out for this. I fly my Neptune on my hand out in the airstream for good data and have an Optima in my helmet for an audible. Other than that I have had great success with my Neptune 2. I'm going to be "on alert" for a "broke jump" so if I see it I can think back to what happened on the jump that might have caused it. Not sure if the comment from the Altimaster rep is a "well qualified statement". I would like to hear a detailed and technical explanation into why its "not meant for wingsuits". Just because somebody at the factory says something doesn't make it a hard fact. How much does she know about the product; technically? I'm curious for the explanation. If Neptune 2 wasn't meant for wingsuits then why do I get consistent speed readings for 12k, 9k, 6k, 3K, an average, and good times past 2 and 1/2 minutes. Other wingsuiters have posted 3 minutes or even more from high altitude. Works for them.....I don't buy her comment "wasn't meant for wingsuits". If it wasn't meant for wingsuits the logic folllows that I would never get any consistent data at all. But I guess it is possible for a wingsuit flight to "trick" whatever makes a Neptune work. I had great success with a ProTrack when I was flying a Firebird but kept "peggin out" the ProTrack at 99seconds; so I gave the ProTrack to my wife. I shall now pop an Adderall and get back to work!
  20. Scotty; I want.....no....I DEMAND an 11 x 14 lustre finish, signed by you; suitable for framing. Just let me know how much. John
  21. My SOP is track off at 4,500 and deploy at 3,000 to allow time if there are serious canopy issues. So I voted for 3,000 At times I have broken off and deployed higher due to a bad spot and flown home under canopy. Other times I have taken it down to 2,000 to 2,500 in larger flocks. "Hard Deck" audible alarms set at 1,500 FT; time for the handles.
  22. Hey Wingsuiters! Saturday September 20th through Sunday September 21st is the Skydive Arizona Customer Appreciation Boogie. NO REGISTRATION FEE. Jump tickets are only $18.00 According to organizer Amy Chemelecki jumpers also get one jump free on the house just for registering. Amy has also organized a Mardi Gras theme party for Saturday night with boat drinks, hurricane drinks, Cajun Food, and a Masquerade Party. Any party Amy organizes is awesome. Elsinore and Eloy formation attempts are coming soon. Lets keep sharp! And so starts the list: 1. John Bast 2. Shawn McLaughlin 3. Frank Burch
  23. To all: - Turned and burned to LA Monday morning after getting home late Sunday night; sorry I could not stay later - What a great boogie! This wingsuiters actually outnumbered the bellyflyers and freeflyers....never seen that happen before! And they even bought us beer to recognize us as having built formations larger than thier own. Wow! - Great opportunity to learn and grow in flying with larger flocks. Too bad many of us have to travel these distances to get large flock experience; but the momentum is growing. - So when "the event" is over and through in November lets not loose steam and continue to build our local flocks. Blues..... John
  24. Hey Everyone: Everbody make sure to give speshul thanks to Spot; he has been working non-stop....the entire boogie; spending all his down time between jumps in the birdhouse downloading video from Scott, Jeff, and Matt, photographs, and doing his video magic. Oh don't forget to thank Linda for the nice ground stills that make us look so cool!
  25. Birds: I arrive Manchester, N.H. on Southwest Airlines at 7:00 p.m. New to this DZ, not sure of the area, thought it was safe just to go ahead and rent a car. Car only cost $66.00 but the fees are $40.00! Go figure. Anyway got my room at the motel 6 so if anybody wants to split the car for ease of getting back to motel 6 to crash let me know; save our money for the jump tix!
