  1. Paul it's CRW accuracy landing connected with any person named Dan. It will be judged by our master of accuracy Matthew.
  2. Mine always happens at the bottom end of the skydive, just before deployment.
  3. Will try it. Happened again this week just on tandem deployment.
  4. Yep. Me too. Sounded good though. Oh well.
  5. Billivon - Stills are fair quality but smaller (grabbed them out of Vegas). Better than nothing though. If they just want to put them on FB work fine. Updating the Firmware is a good idea. Hadn't thought of that. Stupid question - How?
  6. If you use Vegas It will ask you if you want to format for USA/Japan or Europe...but then I'm stealing DSE's thunder.
  7. While I like the Go-Pro's as a product they now seem to be popping up everywhere. Saw a guy with 50 jumps with one mounted with sheet metal screws. He had no idea about the concept of break away systems. Also it had no cut away for the helmet. He did promise though that he wouldn't let the camera be a distraction. Noticed another where the Go-Pro was coming off the back of the helmet facing forward. Thought to myself "Way to move the snag hazard to the worst possible spot!
  8. I've had the same thing happen. Shoot continuously during freefall and have gotten down, checked pics only to find that the bottom end of freefall is missing. Has only happened twice in the last year. Have no clue why. I have to pull a few frame grabs from the cx100 for the bottom end to give the customer. While twice in a year isn't a huge deal, I hate the possibility of equipment failure on someone's only first jump!
  9. I hate the fisheye effect. I wouldn't want my video distorted. "What's wrong with your video? It looks weird." As for giving you a margin of error not keeping the student in the center of the shot and not using a ring sight, if you jump for pay you have to be able to keep the student in the center...period. Also gotta use a sight. No one pays you to guess.
  10. The 195 will be there this coming weekend 26th/27th.
  11. Oh, never mind. Guess that's what the other few hundred dollars gets you.
  12. You say you can burn straight from timeline without rendering? Not sure how to do that. I make the timeline then have to press "Make Movie" to render, then send to DVD studio.
  13. I think until it is possible without glasses, if ever, it will be a fad. Who wants to put on glasses every time you watch something. Was wondering what is needed to do 3D video though, some college kids at DZ may be willing to pay extra for the gimmick, but then again, sometimes it's hard enough just to get them to pay for the video in the first place. Would be extra cool to play with trying though!
  14. As it turns out it's 64$ to upgrade the key. Version 9 works just fine for me. Thanks though.
  15. Any idea how to get that free upgrade? I'm in that window but can't find how to get upgrade.
  16. Sony Vegas is a great program. I just finished "Movie Studio Training" from VASST. Very helpful tool to get the most out of the program. I highly recommend it to anyone who has the program. While the program is very intuitive, the training video shows a lot of short cut key strokes and shows how to get the most out of the program.
  17. So you charge extra for BD. Interesting. Thanks for the advice.
  18. So what is the best thing to do for customers? A) Burn it as SD B) Keep it as HD on DVD 5 C) Burn it as HD on Blue-Ray D) As the customer if they have a Blue-Ray player and go for C/D depending. Tried to figure a lot of this out watching the video editing section you did on Norman Kent's Video but I guess it was made just before the new technology was as common place. Lots of things in it to think about though. Thanks.
  19. So I noticed the Vegas can burn to Blue-Ray discs. I was wondering if the image would be better on it than standard DVD. Since a tandem video is so short it would fit on a DVD no sweat in 1080 but didn't know if Blue-Ray offered any more advantage.
  20. Guess I need an external drive to leave out there since I carry my laptop back and forth. Honey something else I need to buy! "Great!"
  21. Good point. Thanks for the advice. I'll pull it to the hard drive.
  22. When you import the file does it pull it onto the hard drive? Also, for most videos not interested in a re-edit. Edit, output to DVD, show customer, dump file if happy.
  23. Been using Vegas for a few weeks now and love it. It's much easier than what I was using. I like using the Memory Stick because you don't have to wait for the file to capture it pulls right onto the project board. Just haven't used it all the way through the editing process yet - camera just came today.
  24. Just got a cx-100. Seems like the easiest/fastest way to import a video file to Vegas is to take the memory stick out and put it in the computer and import file (I have a Sony Viao). Is this truly the best way. Will there be any degradation of video quality when shooting HD with this method? Thanks in advance.
