  1. Hi, I know I am a low number jumper, But I have been flying a safire2 170 and it lands great for me only at a 1.1wl though. And very responsive as well.
  2. I was taught by my instructor to always fly towards land
  3. Hey , I always had a audible on even when I was doing my aff, My instructor always told me that if I heard it during free fall I've stuffed up and probably have to redo that level as well cause i've lost altitude awareness. Up till now I've only heard itwhen the canopy is just opening.
  4. In New Zealand all A licence jumpers and students must have a AAD as of jan 2006 and it,s looking like the rule is going to come into effect for all sport jumpers in 2007.
  5. Okay heres my story then, 20 minute flight too 12,000 ft in a 185 5 people me and 2 tandems and one lets rip at about 6000ft we are above a glacier in the middle of winter so bloody cold so we fly around the mountain with the door open. The poor tandems must have thought we were going to jump then cause theyclung to the harnes so tight and the look on there faces was so funny when the door opened like they were going to fall out right hehehehe. Hence no more farts the restof the way up.
  6. I've just done mt first 2 jumps on my safire2 170 yesterday and pro packed both of them with no rolling of the nose and both opened great on heading within about 500ft. Awsome turns as well.
  7. Icarus recomened using psyco packing for most of there canopies
  8. Thats cool think I might have to print some of these off give the guys at the dz a laugh. Cool comic
  9. I voted depends, In if ive jumped that dz before and how well I know the area around me and what kinda clouds they are as well. Have done a couple of jumps through cloud but we were doing checks all the way up to see how thick the layer was and what the base was at at the drop zone.
  10. Hey we all have trouble whith some part of our training at some point, Mine was with backloops, first one was a front flip secound was a barrel roll and third well didnt go any where just stayed flat finally got it on my fourth attempt with practice, One thing that really helpped with me was to relax more and think about it all during the dive not just go through the motions. BTW good stand up landings up till now and I made a real hash of my first yesterday, smoked in with a low turn luckely dug it out. Its all about a never ending learning process.
  11. Man I knew the guy that told me to get a 150 in my first rig was way off the mark, Glad I listened to my instructor and others round the dz
  12. I was taught by my instuctor to always do up your chest strap first, His reasoning was if you forget your chest strap youve got more chace of falling out of you harness.
  13. Breathing worked for me as well, But the idea is to have fun out there once you start doing that everything else just falls into place. Fun dives are always cooljust get out there get stable and have a blast.
  14. I was taught with the method of using two handles and if you were told that either handle done both jobs wouldnt you be setting yourself up for a big accident if when you brought your first rig and had a mal early on a freaked you could go back to the student days and pull the red pud low and just think everythings going to happen, and then opps to late.
