  1. Nope different party. This was just a small viking get together. All in good fun though...You could probably ask Lisa Aune about that. She walked in to it by mistake to tell them to keep it down. Oooops!
  2. well, I guess we shouldnt forget attribute 6 which is you should be extremely motivated...that helps too...
  3. Dude...dont post that party footage anywhere, but I would like to see it...that is just to incriminating. My summer is fully booked for the most part. Send me an email and we can sort stuff out.
  4. Super nice!!! Thanks for the post in the other forum. But, we ended up just surfcasting at night....caught a bunch of sharks....only about 2 feet long, and a few blues and some redfish....really good time. It sucks that I am living in one of the best fishing spots in the world and I havent even been fishing down here...
  5. Mike Swanson has been jumping those things all summer in Sebastian...sweet canopy...opens superslow...very nice. Although, I dont see him getting any more distance out of it than anyone else here with a Velocity or other x-braced.
  6. Skol & Bonski to you...sorry if I mispelled those beautiful words... Yep, I may have been to a party there before, but I left before people got naked and started beating the crap out of each other with empty Vodka bottles and knives. Man, you vikings can party like no one I know. Send me and email, punky!!! How are things in Norway anyways???
  7. Yeah, sometimes it can feel like a job, but then I think back to when I had a real job wearing a suit and tie, kissing ass to customers and bosses that didnt know their ass from their elbow and then I get a grip on myself and a big grin on my face. I have the best office in the world!!! So many people would kill to have my job, I finally got to where I wanted to be...I feel really stupid sometimes about bitching about it. Out of all the things in the world, what would I rather be doing for a job??? This. I agree people get burned out and its unfortunate for the student, the sport and the instructor...everything is good in excess moderation I guess.
  8. Along with everyone else's advice...I will give you this. In order to make it you need at least one or more of these values: 1) Be extremely motivated-enough to live in a tent and eat pasta everyday for a year or more. 2) Be extremely talented-if you arent, get coaching to get your skills up to par. 3) Be independantly wealthy-be ready to deplete that to support yourself for a while. 4) Date or marry someone who is wealthy or can at least pay the bills and is EXTREMELY understanding and supportive. (I am not going to give tips on how to get that attribute) 5) Be Lucky-Be in the right place at the right time and grab those opportunities once they present themselves. I did my first AFF jump July 1st 2000. I started getting paid to coach about the same time a year later, got my AFF rating January 2002. I have worked in gear stores/manifest, etc. I have been a fulltime skydiver for almost 2 years now. I think that I have posessed all the qualities above to get me where I am today. I still have a long way to go too. Good luck!!!
  9. I think that Pink is pretty hot...or is that someone that only someone us punk kids know of??? Just kidding. I just got back into the office, went fishing off of cape fear this weekend...very nice.
  10. Students cutting away from a perfectly good canopy is a bit more common than one might think. For instance, this past summer there was a girl doing a Level 1 AFF. She flailed a bit at pulltime (pretty much kept waiving off until the instructors had enough of it) so they pulled her out. So as she is going through the deployment...she finally reaches back to find her handle (which is gone)...so she does what she was trained to do. If you cant find your main handle go for the reserve, which at the time was a SOS...so while she is under a perfectly good canopy...chop! I have seen it 4 times in the past 2 years...that I can think of. None of my students of course.
  11. Every DZ that I have worked at doesnt make students pay for things like that...they are students after all...its part of doing business...but I guess that maybe another thread.
  12. Yep, I love those bonehead halfshells...Jay Molensky jumps with the spikeless one...tough looking buckets.
  13. You dont live with Sebazz1 do you??? Does it have something to do with this??? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=476884#476884 Just kidding...that sucks, and yep, its a bit odd.
  14. Thats why I dont do much shopping. I can only take it in very small doses.
  15. In the same vein...I cant stand it when people dont "pull over" while they are shopping in a grocery store and block the whole lane. Its just common courtesy and sense. "Get the f outta the way! I gotta get to the beer aisle before they stop selling!" Freakin people, man...they are so into reading the calories and unit price of diced tomatoes that they cant take into consideration of others and move. Bastards!
  16. My only concern would be how heavy it is and more importantly...can you see your handles??? Even with some of the "made for skydiving" helmets, it can be tough to look down to see your handles. It seems as though that helmet may pose a tougher time to see them if you need to. Just a thought. Also...is that visor going to go flying??? I am sure that it would stay down while you are on a bike, but it may rip off if you have 120 mph wind pulling up on it while you are on your belly.
  17. Got a good article from Jan the other day...its a good reminder of the benefits of positive mental imagery. Except for the fact that I usually only see pink elephants when I am drinking!!!!
  18. You may want to give a call down to Deland. They have a converted tandem rig that they put on the big boys...but 280??? You are going to have to get some big boy instructors to go with them. I know that I wouldnt be able to keep up with him no matter how much weight I put on. You could get Vladi and Scott Miller does some AFF on occasion.
  19. There are plenty of outs as long as you can find them. It can be difficult to find them if you have your head up your but...Just make sure you know where you are getting out and which way jumprun is (the common sense stuff). I have landed out in all directions N.S.E.W. No problems...even with tiny canopies...Make your decisions early.
  20. Of all the DZs that I have been to...SNE is the BEST!!! Great people, great vibes, beautiful area, bitchin swooping pond and its great to take a dip in!!! Bitchin super otter. bonfires, bands, cookouts, and dont forget LALALAND!!!! Man, I miss that place. I went through AFF there and worked there for the past 2 summers. PM me with any specific questions!!! Enjoy!!!
  21. I will be up to visit sometime in july...swoop contest or 100 way...havent decided just yet. I will let you know.
