  1. Sorry.. I was mumbling out something that could have been the cause, cause I'm not sure how this happened. It just seems to odd to me... Quote This is tension knots. It could have been caused by a severley twisted brake line as described by AggieDave. /reply] Actually, I went over my brakelines before I packed my rig some days before this weekend and checked for any twists. And I found some and cleared them. 2. No, I couldn't see what was causing the spin when it happened. The canopy inflated normally but just before if was fully pressurized, it started to spin violently to the left. I pulled down my right rear riser without effect, pulled it one more time with both hands without effect and saw that I was already at 2000f and went silver. The funny thing was that I took the time to take off my swoopcords on my camerasuit before pulling the cutaway handle. 3. ....a case! No to the serious part, any thoughts on how this happened? I'm solely to blame since this is a packing error on my behalf. I always stow my brakes right after landing to avoid twists on my control lines. I might have entagled the C-line while doing this, but I just can't belive that I could f**k it up like this! edit: Skyhook rocks! =) "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  4. Then maybe it was the pilots who didn't know how to fly it fast. But it took 20min to altitude. When thinking of it..IN Deland they have a Pac. It didn't take any longer then the TO i think. I don't remeber right know. It must have been some of socks that I've been smoking I could send you some 3week old socks "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  5. We had the pac twice one year. Personally it was OK. As for a DZO Id guess its the best compromise. However, it takes some minutes more then an TO or similar. 6. Here in Norway prices on complete systems have dropped nearly $2000(-ish) the last two years. A LOT of skydivers here are now getting brand new rigs since the dollar is so low. That's good for us, but not for US skydivers "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no

  10. I saw the same show, but the way I got it, was that he had invented a parachute-coat. His thoughts were that you could wear it every day, and if you somehow fell off a high point somewhere, or decided to do some fixed object jumping, you could simply spread you coat. It actually worked from approx 15ft when he tested it, but as we all saw, the Eiffel tower was just a little bit to high for his device. He also had only been given a permit to throw a man sized doll wearing the coat from the eiffel tower, but in the last minute decided to do it him self. Darwin rules! Please correct me if I'm wrong here =) "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  11. Not that I've got any answer to you, but don't get upset when you see all the windmills around the D, It's somewhat windy...hehe But still, nice DZ and nice people. I even got a lift back to the DZ by some cowboys(?) from a nearby ranch I ws there during hte 2005 NorCal FF boogie. enjoy! 12. I spoke with SONY and asked them what camera that provides LANC compatibility on new model. There's only one new model out there right now, the DCR HC96. Maybe it isn't a real problem and I'm just worrying too much. But I'm concerned about not having cameye/hypeye or similar functions to a camera. For me it's an essential tool to keep my focus on the exit, rather than to worry if my camera is recording or not.. There are still many used cameras out there, but within 3-4 years ther're all gone I assume. Does anyone know if there will be something similar that may give us the same functionality as a cameye/hypeye? 17. I heard that PD once made a black canopy with black stiches, black lines, just ALL black. They quickly discovered that qualitychecking the canopy was a pain in the ass I've got no answer to your question.
  18. Has it been done during ff? is it possible to get a mobile measuring device small enough to get graphics on a brain in freefall? It would have been interresteing to compare the data, if possible to measure, to other activities and see if there is some nourological reason that some people mangage skydiving and others not. 19. How many jumps does it have? If it's new (under 100 jumps) I personally never let it stay more than 1 month packed. I repack it every month. My brand new samurai was packed for 1,5 month, and when I took it out it was all sticky and kept almost the form of the bag =( If your'e in doubt..repack it and inspect the rubber bands and linestows. It takes 20 min... Personally I think it's worth it. =) "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no

  22. LOL! He caught the essence in skydivers! To the "girls digg skydiver statement": We actually had a skydiver groupie(just one chic) at the small town where our dz is but she haven't been seen for the last 5 years, and no, she's not with a skydiver according to my intel. 23. There has been a lot of discussion on skydiver no-skydiver relationships. It depends on the persons I'd guess. I just broke up with my girlfriend because we were totally different on many sides. She was worried about our relationship since I'm all into the sport and I'm training to get on the national team. The consequence is that I hardly use money on anything else then skydiving. It became an issue and I decided that it was hopeless and that the relationship wouldn't last more then next season. But other then our differences, she's a great girl and let me be the one I am and I still care for her and like her. My tip would be to find a girl/dude that respect your hobby and let's you keep doing it, but you'll need something else in common for it to work. 24. if you work on your flare, then you won't do PLF except for those times when you really screw up and you need to do a plf. see if you get yourself a copy of the parachute and it's pilot by Brian Germain and attend to one of his courses. It's not the bible, but it helps a bunch. 25. I love his cutaway...calmly laying himself on the back as he cuts away continueing the flip non stop. might be luck, but still nice.
